Posted below are the press releases issued by several law enforcement agencies. Two people died when a bus overturned in Desoto County. A suspect led Rankin deputies on a chase and tried to beat down the boys in blue but wound up instead with the jailhouse blues. JPD seeks help in identifying some burglary suspects.
Mississippi Highway Patrol
Today at approximately 12:35pm, a south bound tour bus with 46 occupants crashed on I-269 in Desoto County, MS. The bus was traveling from Huntsville, AL, to Tunica, MS. As result of this crash there were 44 injuries and two fatalities. The injured were taken to a several different hospitals in the area with a wide variety of injuries. Weather conditions were a contributing factor in the crash which is currently being investigated by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
Rankin County Sheriff
On November 7th, 2018 a Rankin County Sheriff’s Interdiction Deputy was on routine patrol on Interstate 20. At approximately 11:00 p.m. the deputy attempted to stop a Ford F150 Pickup for improper equipment. When the deputy ran the tag it came back as a stolen vehicle. The suspect failed to stop for the deputy’s emergency lights and siren and continued west on Interstate 20. The vehicle took exit 68 and went south on Highway 43. When the vehicle neared the Crossroads Community, the suspect struck a deputy’s vehicle. Deputies were able to deploy “spike strips” ahead of the vehicle on Hwy. 43 which the vehicle did run over. After running over the strips, the suspect attempted to make a U Turn almost striking deputies who were on foot. The vehicle came to a stop at Crossroad Church where the suspect exited the vehicle and ran away on foot. Deputies chased the suspect and when they caught him he began to physically fight the deputies. The deputies subdued the suspect and transported him to the Rankin County Jail.
The suspect was identified as Jason Lee DENNIS. DENNIS is charged with Improper Equipment, Felony Fleeing, Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest and Receiving Stolen Property.

Jackson Police are investigating a shooting after a male suffered a gunshot injury to the shoulder. It happened just after 2:00 pm.
Officers responded to the area of Terry Road near Interstate 20 where they found a 39-year-old male. The victim told officers that he was driving on Terry Road when a shot was fired from an unknown dark colored vehicle.
The victim was transported with a non life-threatening injury. The suspect’s identity and type of vehicle remain unknown.

Officer, I was just driving along Terry Road en route to do some volunteer work at my church when this dark vehicle pulled up next to me and an unknown person shot me. I have no idea why or who the shooter is.
And Tommy Head loses his mind if someone reports a suspicious person with a backpack and a hoodie on....
What is 'improper equipment'? He do look rather 'subdued' to me. Methinks he got him an ass-whuppin.
