On Tuesday, July 4th, the Republic of New Afrika will hold its independence celebration at the City Hall.
The Mayor Elect recognizes state authority and the general government, however self determination is a more constitutional and Divine right. Like his dad, we can expect him to be a petitioner on behalf of the city at the statehouse.
God bless Chokwe! He will do a fine job and will be a great leader and inspiration for Jackson. Everyone need to just chill out and give him a chance. Let's see what his policies produce before ripping into him with your hateful retoric.
Damn. I hate moving.
Somebody's got to buy an "A" before we can solve this puzzle.
@Justice for Trayvon
What about him wanting to make jackson the most radical city in the nation and having ties to the malcolm X movement? How would you feel if we elected a mayor who had ties to KKK? Im no right winger, but you can't be that hypocritical.
Everyone need to just chill out and give him a chance.
Nobody on his team, himself included, gave Yarber a chance and worked everyday to undermine Yarber at every turn. So please spare us your stupid rhetoric about providing chances.
Mayor Second Coming said clearly and often on the stump that there would be no learning curve with his administration so the buck for all of Jackson's problems lands squarely on his desk July 4th.
He also said REPEATEDLY during the campaign that he's going to leverage the (declining) special roads sales tax collection into a ready-to-use $500,000,000 for infrastructure repair and replacement.
Going to be enjoyable watching him eat that boast.
11:04,
are you saying "chill out, chill out, chill out by any means necessary"?
Pompous much? Eight events befits a presidential or maybe a gubernatorial inauguration. I'm just disappointed a parade wasn't thrown in for good measure.
Jackson DOES need a radical change. Which radical way will this administration go? We will see.
"Jackson DOES need a radical change."
Yeah, like GENTRIFICATION and CAPITAL (MONEY)! There are too many poor and low-income folks living in the city that are unwilling to invest in themselves, their own communities, and the City of Jackson. Chokwe Antar Lumumba won't change a thing in Jackson. Like Yarber, he's just another Black leader making promises he cannot keep. Put your money where your mouth is Lumumba!
"Global South" is a PC euphemism for "Third World." While many might agree that Jackson and Mississippi are indeed Third World entities, it's not exactly something I would brag about.
I would like to hold a Unity celebration around the massive pothole that has been on the street in front of my house for the past year.
So in other words, He's having a "que" on the cities dime? No celebration at Parnham Bridges park on the new Other side of 55, the proverbial tracks.
"Community Unity"
Say, that rhymes!
Same coterie of Cooperation Jackson sycophants and MXGM Kushniks will accompany him to all the events. He won't bother with white Jackson because white Jackson voted squarely against him in the primary. No amount of spin and happy talk makes that repudiation any less so. Lumumba ran a racially divisive campaign in a city that is only 15-18% white and won the divisive victory he sought.
All this talk of "Unity this" and "Unity that",
Can't wait to see how many whites he hires to work for the city! !
Again, I ask a simple question and for some random reason it fails to pass KF's rigid test. So I'll try again with no links, no name:
Who is paying for all of this?
Since you are hung up on how many whites are hired, you might want to see how many the current administration hired or appointed.
@2:09pm
Jamie Fowler Boyll Park is on the east side of I55. Also Antar lives on the east side of I55 so give it a rest.
Doesn't matter what 'Uncle Tony" did.
"Baby Chok" be in chaagge now...................
Meanwhile: Kingfish puts on his pimp hat and pretends to be a (temporary) member of the flock. These periodic claims of being racially sensitive with open-arms are more than apparent.
What Kingfish ought to be doing is asking why no white groups, individuals or 'white areas' are included in this 'all inclusive' coming out series of parties for the coronation.
Nothing is even predicted about who the 'surprise speakers' at these events will be, but I can betcho ass we can watch for it and it will show up in the media.
Based on his rhetoric, this will be the worst major Jackson has ever had, mark my word. He is already starting out wrong by spending money on an inauguration the city doesn't have. Free food for all? Sad...
Funds are privately raised.
The big question now is what does "RADICAL" mean to this administration. They are busy throwing out the word but not the definition. We all know it means different things to different people.
"I would like to hold a Unity celebration around the massive pothole that has been on the street in front of my house for the past year."

You're thinking SMALL!
This is the Deification Ceremony/Living Apotheosis, for the new Supreme Ruler of Jackson-Kush. This demands a scale of ceremonies to include the sacrifice of virgins and such-as. The Sacrificial Well at Chichen Itza offers an appropriate precedent for the use of the (no-doubt cavernous) hole in front of your house.
ok, it's official. Justice for Trayvon is a parody account. Well done!
"Funds are privately raised".
Prove it! When one holds the city checkbook, who is going to know how much 'city money' is being spent? I'll tell you who. Nobody.
Kingfish made a good point - but while we are all about diversity NOW - makes you wonder how many of the WHITE Mayors in the surrounding suburbs have blacks working in THEIR administration? There is Madison, Ridgeland, Pearl, Brandon, Richland, Clinton, and Flora.
Kingfish do you mind seeing how many blacks work for the surrounding Mayors?
Because if they do have plenty of blacks working in administrative positions, then I think it is only fair to hold Antar accountable for having diversity in his administration as well.
I can tell you Brandon has a black guy that is over public works or some capacity thereof and I believe he came from the Jackson area if I am not mistaken. I've dealt with him only once but he was a super nice dude and didn't seem to have the Lumummba administration mentality.
If he can find banks or bond buyers will to invest in infrastructures, then go for it. What responsible person or entity could be fooled by these "investment" opportunities?
Nobody is holding Antar accountable for nothing. Please get a clue. We've just elected the Obama of Jackson and Antar's utter lack of experience, like Obama, will produce the same dismal results.
@ June 20, 2017 at 8:35 AM
Slow it down Archie Bunker. I bet your doctor's are white, lawyer is white, accountant is white. But your yard guy is a Mexican and you eat at E&L BBQ - because you automatically assume black people are not smart!?
Obama dismal!? You probably drink up the Trump Snake Oil too!?
What a freakin' idiot!? SMH
Madison's Planning and Zoning Department Director is a black female, daughter in law of noted Jackson racist Eric Stringfellow.
Tell us 9:05 what Obama actually accomplished. It is an extremely short list so it shouldn't take you too long to compile.
Trump may yet supplant him but right now Obama is easily the worst POTUS in the history of the Union.
Many of the same people who decry the media and "liberals" for pre-judging and criticizing Trump before his administration has a chance to start work are the same bozos who have already passed judgment on Antar before he has taken the oath of office. His job will be hard enough without people who WANT to see him and all black leaders fail throwing stones BEFORE he can enact policy.
Went to the Sales Tax Commission last week. I'll post the video later this week. The Mayor-Elect attended. Went very well. He was very professional and things ran much more smoothly.
It also helped that IMS wasn't around to screw things up.
Lord save us from people like 9:45 whose scope of history encompasses their own memory. My God! Did we survive Obama? We couldn't. He destroyed the country. Didn't he? Now Antar. We're doomed! Aren't we?
He has to play nice KF since he boasted he'll turn water into wine.
TO: 9:45----I am a republican and you have got that so wrong---George Bush is the worse President we ever had----Obama inherited all of his mistakes and didn't have the ability to put things right again. My business has not made a profit since 2008 but I'm not going to give up. Things will get better before they hit the fan again. GET READY !!!
It's getting kind of late to plant and manage a community based garden, but if Kennuf can source some tomato plants and have his constituents plant them in the pot holes of Ward 3, Antar can claim bringing multiple "Hole Foods" to Jackson.
Leave it to the neanderthalic small thinkers like @9:05AM to reflexively misdirect a questioning of competence and demonstrable results to a matter of race. LMAO
My business has not made a profit since 2008 but I'm not going to give up.
Might be time to find a new source of income since you aren't suited to running a for-profit business. If you haven't made a profit since 2008 that is 100% ON YOU buddy.
P.S. There are any number of do-nothing non-profits in Jacktown who could use your expertise in futility management. You could even consider heading up a co-op.
lol at the new angle on Hole Foods.
One word we never heard one of the previous five Jackson mayors utter and the one you will not hear the 'to be coronated' one utter, is inclusive.
7:53 For over 100 hundred years prior to the five previous mayors "inclusive" meant encompassing all white folks. So what?
Many understand that those who are BEST QUALIFIED generally fill the role in the workplace.
9:05, however, will get one shot on the operating table with his expectations.
