WLBT reported Kenneth Stokes is at it again:
Hinds County Supervisor Kenny Stokes says he's about 90% sure he will run for his old Ward 3 Jackson City Council seat. The seat was vacated by his wife, Larita Cooper Stokes, last week after she was elected a Hinds County Judge.
Stokes tells us he believes Ward 3 residents need him to fight for them for water bills and sewer and street problems they're facing.
Stokes gave up his seat in 2012, when he was elected Hinds County Supervisor for District 5. Larita Cooper Stokes won that seat in a special election.
If he wins, he has to leave the Hinds County Board of Supervisors. Peggy, Darrell, and Tony will appoint his replacement. The replacement will hold that seat until November. Hmm.... 4-1 majority. Run, Kenneth, run!!!

What a joke. The Stokes Twins have never done anything to improve Ward 3. I've owned a house in that ward for almost 30 years..........the Stokes are an infestation not an improvement. The only thing Kenny has ever fought for is his place in line at the all you can eat buffet!
Stokes tired of being irrelevant on Hinds Board of Supervisors.
I guess Kenny realized being a little fish in a big pond isn't as much fun as being a big fish in a little pond! A catfish that is, a yellow-belly, scum-sucking, bottom dweller!
Kenny lost his "power" when McWhirter won, and Kenny and Robert Graham became a two-man losing team where Kenny cooud no longer dominate and impose his will on the county. He now wants to go back to the City Council where he can try to regain that influence. In other words, he can't get his way on the Bd of Supes any more, so he wants to run back to the City Council and see if he can get it there.
Mr. McQuirter took the power away from Stokes--it was 3-2 before that...and now even Graham had to realign his allegiances in order to 'get' anything...
Stokes craves influence and power--and he has ZERO in hinds county..no one can slip him a little scratch for a no-bid contract anymore...BUT he can go back to Jackson and keep "Stokes" in ward 3....
it remains to be seen how long judge stokes will sit on the bench...
And by "fight for them for water bills and sewer and street problems they're facing", he means find out where the city is already scheduled to make some improvements, and then showing up in that area ahead of time and acting as if he is going to talk to someone and get the issue taken care of. This ass clown has made a living off of the poor, uneducated, and downtrodden. Why should now be any different?
The revolving door on these local offices is really getting old. Elected officials who create vacancies mid-term for any reason other than serious illness or death should have to cover the cost of the special elections required to replace them.
What is so depressing is there are enough dim bulbs to put him back on the Council. Anyone know what a Council member is paid and what he's making now as a Supervisor?
These figures may be a bit dated:
County Supervisors: $45,700
City Council Member: $25,000
Quite a pay cut!
"Anyone know what a Council member is paid and what he's making now as a Supervisor?"
I don't know the numbers, but in Kennuf's case the answers are 1) too much and 2) too much.
9:04 Exceptions to every good rule. Stokes can resign, under any circumstances, anytime. The greatest thorn ever for Hinds County.
Any chance we can get graham the legend to follow him to the city?
What's the odds that George Smith get appointed to the Dist. 5 vacancy?
11:37 hopefully zero to none. Isn't Smith in the Terry area?
If Stokes gets back on the Council, here's hoping that West Point graduate A. Foote is able to keep The Raging Mouth from disrupting the proceedings
What Stokes and many other elected officials don't understand is that the "Seat" is not their's it belongs to the voters.
Plus the voters of Hinds County elected him to do a job. He owes it to them to finish out his term. Same with LaRita...
Officials that choose to step down because they see a "better opportunity" elsewhere cause the voters undue stress and cause the city/county to spend MORE money to hold a special election.
Folks that seem to be concerned about stoke's midterm resignation aren't realizing some in Hds. Co. don't want his stupid ass in government. People in his district live in Jackson, not in the rural areas, and if they want the stokes twins, they can have the stokes twins. He cost the electors a lot more with his moronic bullshit, than an election will cost.
Kennuth doesn't need to worry about the possible pay cut any more, now that wife is getting a pay raise from $25k to $135k.
Think about that folks - hatlady is going to start taking $135k home from our county treasury.
I was hoping that the comment at 2:25 about the 135K was an early April Fool joke. Unfortunately, here's a reference from a CL story:
In Hinds County, judges are paid $1,000 less than Circuit and Chancery Court judges, whose salary will increase to $136,000 by January 2016.
Jackson needs Kenneth Stokes
I believe I could tolerate Kenny back on the Council if he would wear one of his wife's hats to every meeting.
"Bloke" Stokes is a joke! But, seriously folks, the fact that the voters in the Stokes' ward continue to elect these people to public office speaks volumes about the mentality of these voters.

I don't know why you would feel that way, 9:15. For me, the gargantuan shoulder pads in Keffuf's suits (contrasted with the size of his cranium) are every bit as entertaining as LaRita's hats.
If Kennuf wore a big Church Hat, it would interfere, visually, with the unique shoulder-to-head size ratio that most of us find so mesmerizing.
