Sheriff attacks rumors

WLBT reported Hinds County Sheriff Tyrone Lewis had a few things to say about some rumors:

"Hinds County Sheriff Tyrone Lewis took to the radio airwaves Wednesday and squashed a rumor.

On his 53rd birthday, Lewis used his first weekly WMPR radio show to deny claims that he was under house arrest for domestic violence.

He said the rumors have been swirling for two months. The sheriff said the accusations prompted him to investigate.

Lewis said he learned he is being confused with two other men who share his name.

A Tyrone Lewis lives in Jackson, and another one lives in Madison. Both of those men have domestic violence arrests, according to the sheriff.

"So I want to set the record straight. If that had been me, we wouldn't be sitting here. We'd probably be on CNN news or the Oprah Winfrey show and anybody else. But I take it seriously when it comes to those violent rumors," Lewis said.

The sheriff will host "The Sheriff's Report" -- a live radio call-in show -- each Wednesday from 6:30 to 7 p.m
." Story with video

The rumors have spread like wildfire in the black community. JJ received over half a dozen tips and a dozen comments that were not posted because they were rumors. The rumor went along these lines: The Sheriff was arrested on domestic violence charges by JPD and booked up in Madison County. Then after a week or so of the rumors floating around, a tv anchor's name was thrown into the mix as well. Every single newspaper and tv station in town received numerous "tips" about his arrest.

Folks, none of it was true. None of it. I filed a public records request for all arrests this year of Tyrone Lewis by JPD. There are none. They did provide me with an arrest report for a Tyrone Lewis for domestic violence on January 19, 2012. However, that particular Tyrone Lewis was born in 1991. A little bit young to be Sheriff. He was not booked into the Madison County jail. The jail dockets are clean. If he was on house arrest, he would be wearing an ankle bracelet. There is none. There is no order from a judge placing him on house arrest. Use your heads. If this was true, it would already be news. There are a few people at JPD who would probably leak the arrest report if it indeed happened. It would be nearly impossible to keep such a thing quiet in Madison County. Every source, every agency, every person contacted has said the same thing: Its not true. The Sheriff went out on an evening drug bust June 26. He participated in the bbq cookoff at the downtown Independence Day Celebration June 27. He wore shorts. There was no bracelet. He participated in Operation T-BON two weekends ago. If this is house arrest, lock me up.

Now what one source (Not at HCSO) told me was a certain Hinds County Supervisor mistook his ankle holster for an ankle bracelet and started shooting his mouth off about house arrest. This particular supervisor is known for shooting his mouth off about all kinds of things as well as understanding reality. Its sad this took place but that is how such things are done in the black community. Anonymous flyers that smear the enemy of the day. False allegations on talk radio: "I heard.....", "Did you know....", etc with little challenge by the talk show hosts. Many times its the host himself spreading the garbage. If you're the target, its almost impossible to fight no matter how much proof exists showing the lies are not true. Ask Jerry Lousteau in Canton. A police chief allegedly places flyers on cars saying he refers to black people in not so flattering terms. Think he can fight that one? Ask Marshand Crisler. Jonathan Lee. All victims of this crap. Its almost impossible to do anything about it if you are unfortunate enough to be the target. For the record, the Sheriff was not arrested and was not placed on house arrest. Sad I have to actually say that but I said it. Good day.

Where are all the foul mouth, big dog, anti Hinds County smart asses?

Not sure what that ^^^^ question has to do with anything. I saw him on the news and actually felt badly for him. Nobody should be forced to endure libel or slander. If the accusations were other than accidental, shame on the ones who made them.

Now back to 'hatin on' Hinds....

The FACT that Tyrone Lewis, the Hinds County Sheriff, is not a supporter of the 2nd Amendment is neither rumour nor slander.

All the conservative whites in NE Jackson are encouraged to bend over and practice assuming the position.

5:52 is just another gun nut. Gun nuts are fun. Have this delusion about the government sending in black helicopters to seize same. I love gun nuts. That is why we Democrats will continue to kick your stupid asses forever.

Except statewide in Mississippi or in the MS House or Senate. Numbskull.

Maybe his son can throw him a party at the JPD training center to celebrate his being so pure. House arrest would be much better than the potential death sentence one gets if held in Raymond for two years before court appearance or being held in another county jail while one third of the jail is "remodeled". But seriously..... Thank God this is not true because the citizens of Hinds county are no doubt anxiously awaiting his next billboard. Happy Yo Sheriff Day!

Hey idiot at 7:29. Do you actually think we DC Democrats planning long range policy care about you and your hick ass opinions? Get a grip!

You bible thumping rubes are actually hysterically stupid.

Dumbass @ 5:52: This is about the accusations that the high sherrif is under house arrest for domestic violence (rumor and slander), not about his position on the second ammendment. You assumed the position on this one all by yourself. Try to keep up.

July 6, 2013 at 3:55 AM should start a blog ASAP and satisfy their need to be a control freak.

10:54; I have a burning need to shine a spotlight on dumb asses, not to control them. I love for them to do what they do.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
