We have reached deeeeeeeep into the JJ archives for this old post about Marshand Crisler. Enjoy.
WLBT story and video, includes copies of original news stories
Well, well, well. WLBT investigated Ward 6 councilman and mayoral candidate Marshand Crisler's claim about being shot in 1993. Jackson Jambalaya first questioned the circumstances surrounding his shooting. WLBT did a decent job in covering the story and was able to get Crisler to admit he was the unidentified deputy mentioned in news stories regarding the incident in 1993:
"Crisler says authorities arrested Anthony Dixon and charged him with aggravated assault.
Hinds County Sheriff Malcolm McMillin never released the name of the deputy who was shot.
The incident was one of three cases that were under investigation after reports of evidence-tampering.
Former Hinds County Sheriff Officer Scott Turner, who pled guilty to charges in a separate case, testified about the April 2nd shooting. He said "I stated the evidence was found in the defendant's right, front pocket. The defendant in that case did not possess crack cocaine. All he did was shoot my partner in the chest."
Crisler confirmed that he and Turner were, in fact, partners.
Crisler told WLBT news authorities later recovered 14 kilos of cocaine in a highway stop that they believe were headed for Metro Manor Apartments."
Actually Mr. Crisler, not so fast, because there are still a few questions that need to be answered.
1. You state Mr. Dixon was charged with aggravated assault. The April 1993 Clarion-Ledger story said he was charged with a drug charge and attempted murder. Which is it? You managed to leave out the fact the drug charged was dropped because the evidence was fabricated. Which leads to the second question.
2. What exactly did happen to the attempted murder or aggravated assault charge against Mr. Dixon? Was he prosecuted? Did he serve any time? If not, then why not?
3. Reliable sources have told me the raid was conducted on the wrong apartment. What Crisler stated was drugs were headed to the complex, not that particular apartment. Make no mistake, the guy who shot Crisler was probably a scumbag and a p.o.s., however, Crisler is the one who decided to use his shooting for political gain. So the question must be asked: is the address in the warrant the same as the house that was raided?
4. Was Crisler present or did he have any knowledge of his partner, Scott Turner, planting drugs on Mr. Dixon?
Crisler can use his shooting to his advantage all he wants (never mind how tacky and cheap such a trick is). However the fact remains he does not get his story straight on what the shooter was charged with, the fact no drugs were found, and that his partner admitted planting drugs on the shooter.

I am loath to do anything remotely resembling defending Crisler but everyone on this blog knows there is no such thing as an "attempted murder" statute in MS - such offenses are prosecuted as aggravated assault. He was probably just speaking in the vernacular when he mis-identified the charge.
On the other hand - I thought he got shot in the _leg_. Getting shot in the chest is usually a lot more serious.
What is your point?
A non-vote for Dick is a vote for Erectile Dysfunction.
8:47 seems to have intimate knowledge of Crisler that I really didn't want to know.
