Governor Barbour edged out Governor Christie in the latest JJ poll: Who should be the 2012 GOP nominee for President? I voted for Christie although I think in terms of ability to lead they are probably dead-even. Romney came in third. By the way, a little bird told me some of the recent hits on Haley in the conservative press and Politico are coming out of the Romney camp. No, the little bird does NOT come form the Barbour nest. Hope Mitt is ready for the big leagues because the Governor is not exactly someone with whom I would pick a fight.
Tim Pawlenty | 19 (4%) |
Mitt Romney | 79 (17%) |
Sarah Palin | 33 (7%) |
Mitch Daniels | 19 (4%) |
Haley Barbour | 98 (22%) |
Chris Christie | 86 (19%) |
Jeb Bush | 21 (4%) |
Bobby Jindal | 30 (6%) |
Mike Huckabee | 27 (6%) |
Newt | 25 (5%) |
Rudy Guiliani | 6 (1%) |

Do you think that Haley will run? He has been mighty visible lately with his being the Governor Boss, you know?
Christie talks tough to Unions, but his views on gun control make him look like a bad idea to large chunks of the country.
He's not dumb and taking on the NRA in the Republican party would be suicide and he's not suicidal. Not as conservative on some things as I'd like but he's no Bush.
i hate to say that even though there are much better candidates out there (barbour, jindal, christie, romney and huckabee) i am afraid palin is the front runner with her momentum. The republican party needs to give alot of thought to who our next president will be. I say that cuz i dont think the democrats can rebound from their obamafied mistakes. And hopefully palin will run as Independent.
There is a primary system for a reason. Don't worry about Palin until she wins a primary.
It appears Gov. B likes to do what he does best in the party and thats to bring more people in with money who can do something not just ya ya. As for as running, nah don't think so but the attention is nice.
What's to keep Palin from running as an Independent if it looks to her that she'll be shut out of the primary system?
It's not like she didn't support Tea Party candidates over Republican picks.
1/6 8:18 - when was the last time an independent won the presidential seat? she wouldnt run unless she could win...
note: Perot was the only MAN whose been close that i know of and thats just because he was the business mind of all time then, palin doesnt compare
8:18
And Perot got zero electoral votes.
boss hog for president - bwaaahaaa
haaaaa haaaaaaaaa
Sarah needs to sit down and shut up. Even I'm not a fan anymore, lost me when she quit an elected position. Just did. And can we admit yet she's an unpolished idiot? I mean she's sharp, but an idiot. (If that makes sense.)
Any serious Independent candidate is just gonna piss me off, splitting the votes.
Not to mention, all the blacks are registered to vote now thanks to '08, so Obama's still got it in the bag. (Haley would have to free more than the Scott sisters to compete with that pull)
11:01 and others
You assume this is an ideological political effort for Palin and that making money and celebrity isn't a factor.
And, I'm with Stiletto on this...Palin's an idiot...a major loose cannon. She'll believe she can win despite past history or the bothersome facts of electoral votes.
Stiletto, I think freeing the Scott sisters ended up being botched...the parole condition of giving up a kidney hardly plays well. Ends up being another way to make the Guv look bad. In fact, it's down right creepy.
