JJ asked last week who you support for the Republican nomination in 2012. As predicted, the Paul people put it up on their message boards and he won, getting more than twice as much as Haley. Romney and Haley came in second and third. Will be interesting to see in six months when I ask this question again what the results will be.
Jeb Bush | 19 (3%) |
Palin | 43 (7%) |
Pawlenty | 15 (2%) |
McCain | 3 (0%) |
Romney | 98 (16%) |
Jindal | 26 (4%) |
Haley | 76 (12%) |
Will vote R but none of these | 50 (8%) |
Huckabee | 37 (6%) |
Newt | 25 (4%) |
Mitch Daniels | 6 (1%) |
Ron Paul | 202 (33%) |

Paul's also been a steady contender in straw polls across the country since 08. He polls better against Obama in Rasmussen Polls than any other Republican candidate. Neither of those rely on message board posts. He may come across as a kooky ole bird. But, his message has been consistent for decades and is the same message the TEA Party is pushing to have heard.
I posted Palin on the message boards across the entire Internets. What happened?
I'd rather not have to choose between Obama and Paul.
I saw on my traffic counter where this poll made several Paul boards, none for the others.
I think I posted support for Palin on JFP. I'm sure you got a lot of traffic from there.
It's not much of a surprise that Paul won, if his supporters were publicizing the poll. But it's a surprise that Romney beat Barbour, who should have the home field advantage.
He's in there for Eight Years, let's get use to it. Haley is a Redneck, Romney an East Coast Rhino & Oh! I almost forgot a MORMAN, Pawlenty, is that the corn dish Pawlenty?, or the unknown Pawlenty? Palin is simply a Screw Ball; Newt and Huck are actually character-tures of themselves, McCain will be dead or at least the living dead like Byrd, and Jindal, yea right, they'll elect a black man to the white house before an Indian.....real goo line up here.
Like I said....he's in there for eight years. Count on it and plan accordingly.
I just returned from the SRLC this weekend and wanted to make some remarks about their poll and this one.
1. Mike Pence and Rick Santorum were the best speakers who are probably going to run. In fact, the buzz late Sat was Mike would have done better in the straw poll if more people waited to vote. Neither were on JJ's poll.
2. Romney paid for 200+ "Evangelicals for Romney" to attend and stack the vote in his favor.
3. Same thing for Ron Paul - he offered 600 discounted tickets to his nuts... sorry fans, and it showed on Sat. when the "kids" showed up in droves.
4. What this should tell us is that both are willing to manipulate the court of public opinion rather than run on their ideas.
5. As Haley said... (which he got from Fred Smith) "The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing."
Otherwise, we have to stay focused on 2010. Without a successful 2010 2012 will be all that much more difficult if Rep's/tea party want to 'take our country back' so to speak.
oops sorry we did...well then they'll elect a Morman to the White House before an Indian...
Paul always does well in these polls and then gets very few votes.
I don't think America is going to vote in a 75-year-old president next time. They may have before, but those days are gone.
I would be shocked if he was nominated. He will not get the votes.
19 people voted for Jeb Bush? I realize its only 3%, but by now, with any other conservative choice at all, shouldn’t everybody be Bushed out?
First, we had Mr. Liar, Liar pants on fire if you vote for me, when the Dems in congress come wanting to raise your taxes, I will tell them to READ MY LIPS! Afterwards, he signs the largest tax increase in history (at the time), one we still feel at the pumps every time we gas up.
Eight years after we throw him out, we elect Silver Spooner Trust Fund Dubya (and who could blame us given the other choice). Ole W goes and gets us in a war with the wrong country and thereby misses an opportunity to swiftly crush the real 911 enemy and be the hero his Daddy was right after winning the first gulf war. While Daddy Bush might have been too dumb to think we weren’t going to hold him accountable for his Read My Lips lie, nobody can deny his military instinct and genius. The sad thing is hardly anybody remembers the reason Daddy Bush gave us for his choosing not to go into Bagdad and take over the country; that WE WERE NOT GOING to GET INVOLVED in ANOTHER VIETNAM!!! But hey, with all of that Air National Guard experience of his, how could Jr (W) not have thought he could do what Daddy Bush thought could not be done?
Now Ole W’s a real tough guy with Saddam but far too weak to stand up to Dems and say No, we aren’t loaning money to people who won’t pay it back because everybody DOES NOT deserve to own a house; regardless of how politically incorrect this might have been. Instead, he sends out his HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson to give interviews bragging about how minority home ownership has increased under the W administration; being far too dumb at the time to realize the wheel was going to run off.
Then, to top these disasters off with the top off of all top off’s, when the financial crash does come, and the world wakes up to the royal screwing we have gotten from the scum in DC and on Wall Street, with his classic deer in the headlights look, ole W backs turning 700 billion over to former Goldman boy Hank Paulson to fix the big F Up. And he fixed things all right; making sure his pals at Goldman got their 20 Billion from AIG (money they would have surely lost without the super rich bail out) . So, the super rich get super richer and you and I owe another 20 billion so the thieves at Goldman don’t pay for their mistakes.
With twelve years of clear evidence available, one would think that the name Bush would never even show up on a Presidential poll, much less receive ANY votes; and even if all of this evidence is not enough, is there anybody out there who believes it would have ever been possible for Barack Obama to become President of the United States of America, if not for G. W. Buch? Barack freaking Obama, a man who has never even successfully ran a lemonade stand, a man who was bouncing his credit card two democratic conventions prior to his running for President, a man whose wife admitted they couldn’t (or really was it WOULDN’T?) pay off their student loans (with two Harvard educated attorney’s in the same household).
Please GOD, help us to never ever have to vote for another Bush!!!
I'm sick of the Bush's as well but honestly, Jeb has the misfortune of coming after those two. the big surprise is people are surprised how liberal both George's governed. If you looked at the elder's history, you should have known where he was going. the younger one gave pretty strong indications where he was going with his compassionate conservatism and bragging about his ability to work with Democrats. I'm all for bipartisanship when its good for the country but he bragged about it when he campaigned in 2000.
Jeb on the other hand was probably the one with the most conservative record and is well-qualified for the job but then again, he is a bush and we are sick of them.
