Well, let's not forget about all the assault charges filed against Karen prior to marrying Stuart. Kingfish, you were the one to make that information public. What was it, 8 in Hinds, several in Madison Cty and also in Rankin. Some people are great liars. No excuse for the child issues though.

No, the timing shows a probable reason for the stupidity behind the wheel and the history between these two. Drunk and fighting about the charges. No matter what the speed, it was all wrong and two innocent people suffered from a very stupid decision by two selfish individuals to get behind the wheel of a moving vehicle after drinking, and then probably fighting while driving. They should have taken the fight to the house.

Of course Stuart was beating the crap out of her in the car that night on Old Canton Road. That's why she lost complete control of her car. However, she did it to herself for being with him and driving when she knew his history of violence toward her and her child. I wonder if Karen still thinks Stuart's money was worth it now. He is as responsible for the deaths of the two young doctors as she is.

DAs don't prosecute misdemeanors, which are the charges referenced. County Attorneys and City Court Prosecutors have those duties.

Maybe the Prosecutor should pull together all the people who have or have had assault charges against Karen and all the people who have had assault charges against Stuart and see who is more believable to be an abuser.

This is a failed attempt to put the blame of the wreck on Stuart. She was the driver and she was drunk and she killed two innocent people. Stuart and Karen should never have married and only did because Karen was pregnant. That is well known. It had no chance of survival in the first place and look how it is going to end. Her in jail, him with head injuries, two people dead and 2 children all the victims.

Here's the deal. Comments about ex'es are going to get zapped. Comments making unsubtantiated accusations get zapped. I've checked into Karen's history and guess how many assault charges exist against her? One from 7 or so years ago. That's it. If it doesn't have anything to do with the case or is potentially libelous, its getting zapped.

As for trying to favor her case with this post, that is simply laughable. I just got the last police report last week. JPD takes three weeks to fill out one report and that is assuming you got the right ones all in one batch. Could some of these charges against Stuart be trumped up or blown out of proportion? Yes, its possible and that is why I pointed out he was never convicted. However, I think its also relevant to point out the history here and that apparently something happened the week of the wreck. I'm going to tell you guys about the facts of the case as they come out. That means there will be ones damning of Karen and possibly Stuart and sometimes it might be favorable. I don't think this affects how people think about the case one way or the other but they deserve to know the whole story.

And the one in Ridgeland is retired to the file from what I heard. Not dismissed.

ACTUALLY she has an arrest in 2004 for assault IN JACKSON. I just didn't include it in the post above.
The case was dimissed when the complainant didn't show BUT the fact remains, there was a charge and arrest for it.

Good work KF! Exactly right, things were brooding between this couple. Both Irby's were time bombs ready to go off and, as most couples, they may not have wanted to make it a public display. Who knows what happened once they got into their car, any little thing may have triggered rage with all that was going on during that week.

Well I think they should both be in jail. This house arrest is for the birds.....she is all over Jackson and Madison. I hope they both get what they deserve!

I am very worried about Karen's female child from a previous marriage. If her mom goes to jail, she needs protection. Her daddy needs to get her out of there.

8:41 I was thinking the same thing about the article this afternoon. The fluff article in the CL made many people who knew the truth about the Irbys' relationship and marriage angry. Their so called friends who knew better are the ones who got the truth out, and it didn't take long either.

All the slams going Stuart and Karen's way are completely deserved. But don't assume that Charles is just like his brother because he also donated to McMillin. Charles is a completely different guy -- calm temprament, non-volatile wife, etc. He's stood by his brother in all of this, and will continue to, because that's what brothers do. But I don't believe for a minute that if anyone on the Irby side is trying to game the system, Charles is involved.

The criminal trial starts on Monday for Karen Irby. can you give us an overview of what will be public? Do you expect everything that happens will be reported? I saw some reference to TV coverage of some of the coverage. I guess, I am asking if evrything will be reported as it occurs. Is that your expectation?

"A hearing in the Karen Irby Case has been called for 10:00 Friday Morning. The trial is scheduled to start on Tuesday."

I thought the trial started on Monday, March 29 not Tuesday.

Something definitely is up. WAPT reported the hearing on their nightly news at 6:00PM, too, and said they would be following the developments.

Alright, lets take a guess on the plea if there is one. I say she takes 10-10 served/suspended to run concurrently. I don't think this is very respectful of KILLING two doctors. Don't think that justice is served by this. At best, its 20 served concurrently on both. It will definitely show the moxie of the DA whatever agreement, if happening, is presented. Personally know of someone at 21 that is serving 30 on a plea deal for DUI killing family of 5. Search it out, it happened in Ridgeland, on his 21st birthday. Like this, sad story, he's only 4-5 years into his sentence.

Stuart and the Sheriff are good friends. How do you think he got the badge he carried around? He didn't try to hide that he had it.

10/10 served/suspended is not near enough for causing such a violent death to two young adults. No way in heck serving 10 years is enough for what she did. If the DA goes along with this sentence, there's going to be some really, really angry people. She should get at least 20/20.
