The latest school ratings were kind to public school districts in the Jackson Metro Area. As usual, Clinton led the way while Jackson brought up the rear. However, JPS is performing better than when it faced a state takeover several years ago. Meanwhile, the charter schools had one theme: failure.

If I lived in pearl I would be pissed paying all those taxes for only a b school! Pearl has its on school district and taxes are higher because of it
Fondren do you send your kids to JPS? It’s a c rated school
Clinton's schools have always been very good, MC and the brick streets are beautiful, and home prices are extremely reasonable. The problem, of course, is proximity to west Jackson crime. (Plus the fact that many white families look at a school that's 55% black and don't care how good it is.)
But truly, if you are a lower income parent in Jackson who cares one iota about your kids, given the affordability-to-quality ratio of Clinton, you have zero excuse not to move a few miles down highway 80.
These scores have to be fake news. Charter schools were proclaimed by Republicans as the answer to all public education problems.
So is it safe to say that the experiment of taking public school funds and giving them to privately run charter schools has been a failure and should be ended?
If I read the data correctly from one of this links your pub'd yesterday, Clinton High itself was a B.
Another problem for Clinton is being stuck in soft-on-crime slap-the-wrist Hinds County.
But the clock is ticking
