I have paid to see several artists perform concerts over the years, including three concerts this year, and I have to say that last night was one of my worst experiences. We sat there for three hours waiting for Kevin Gates to start the show. It should’ve started at 8pm, but he didn’t get on the Brandon Amphitheater stage until 10:47pm. No one ever came onstage to explain the reason for the delay; they just kept having people come out and “sing,” and that also sucked. Once Kevin did get onstage, he performed about four songs in seven minutes. He was rushing to get those songs done because I heard there’s a noise ordinance after 11pm and fines the artist would have to pay. After paying money to see him perform, I was disappointed that he was rushing to finish. Finally, I got up and left, like many other people did. It’s a shame how everyone, including me and the person on my second ticket, was disrespected.
Me and the head guy at Live Nation’s Mississippi / Alabama office had a very colorful conversation about Rap concerts at the Brandon Amphitheater after my post about the Lil Wayne show starting late and the opening act no-showing went viral. He took exception to me calling it a “Sh!t show” and suggesting that the unreliability or unpredictability of hip-hop artist was why they hadn’t done hardly any rap shows at the Amphitheater (he argued that T-Pain was rap, I disagreed). Anyway after last nights Kevin Gates Sh!t show, I wonder if we’ve seen our last rap show at the Amphitheater? According to social media post from concert attendees he was after midnight showing up and only performed for about 20 minutes. We brought Kevin to one of my clubs in 2014, did 2,300 people on a Wednesday night and had zero problems so I’m surprised they had these issues with him. Some unconfirmed rumors out there about him being in a wreck but you’d think if that were true they’d have made a point to tell people so they could justify the delay. Sometimes you just have a bad night, and it devolves into a sh!t show, unfortunately it’s happened to plenty events I’ve been a part of over the years because there’s a lot of moving parts to pulling a big event off without any major issues.(Clay Edwards)

Brandon Amphitheater & Kevin Gates i’m gonna either need a refund or a redo bc this is crazy. Kevin Gates, I’m highly disappointed in last night show that was horrible. We waited all that time in the cold. You never apologize not once for being late to your own show or gave us a reason of why in the show you put on for what 20 minutes after we waited 3 1/2 hours that was sorry and pathetic. We should all get refunded. I’m so glad I saw you years ago when you actually performed and did a great job and appreciated and respected your fans.

Imagine being paying money to see someone from a music genre notorious for being late and not putting in effort, then being surprised that they showed up late and didn’t put in effort. It’s like buying a ticket to a Guns N’ Roses show and being surprised that Axl canceled the show because he had hurt feelings or just didn’t feel like it that night.
Imagine considering hip-hop “music.”

We went to the Mercy Me concert at that exact same amphitheater the other night. On time, respectful and a beautiful evening...What a stark contrast in culture that emerges......

Brandon and the amphitheater don’t need this trash. They need to put the brakes on this “quality entertainment” now!
I’ve seen Chicago, James Taylor and a few others at the amphitheater and they always follow a strict schedule and everything goes well.
Stop inviting rap artists to your city. And stop trying to show inclusion in attracting an audience that doesn’t appreciate how nice this venue is. Mr Gates doesn’t respect himself; do you really think he has consideration for his audience?
I bet there was a ton of garbage left behind for the cleaning crew this morning.

You cannot promote this culture and then be shocked when things like this happen. It is vile, vulgar, degenerate, disgusting, God-less, etc.. I will not eat at a restaurant or patronize a bar that plays this music. It’s straight up evil and nasty, and is a big part of what’s wrong with our society and culture. We have no more civilization.

when a rap concert meets a trump rally things often dont go well.
Flo Rida last week at the state fair was atleast an hour late getting started. I was supposed to start at 7pm. A little after 7 an announcer said that Flo Rida's plane was delayed. At 8pm we left and Flo Rida still hadn't started performing yet. Why do people managing the performances have the artist fly in on an evening flight? Evening flights are almost always late. Flo Rida should of came in on a morning/early afternoon flight to prevent this. Wasted $50 on tickets.
What dumbass thought the Brandon Amphitheater would be a good fit to book for a rap act?
I am sad I missed Weird Al and Puddles. I was traveling but heard it was great.
Some artists respect their fans.
