JPD issued the following statement.
On Sunday, October 11, 2026, at approximately 12:38 am, Precinct Three officers responded to 645 Kirkley Drive in reference to a deceased subject. Upon arrival, they spoke with a witness at the scene who advised them that 32-year-old Tre’len Smith had gotten into an altercation with another black male at the residence. During the altercation, both men pulled weapons and fired upon each other. Both men sustained gunshot wounds. Smith was pronounced deceased on scene; the second man was transported to a local hospital and rushed into surgery to be treated for serious injuries. Smith’s next of kin has been notified. No arrest has been made at this time. This is an active investigation.Kingfish note: An old poem.

@2:10-you are correct + Old Canton from Ridgewood to County is a wide open speed way- I saw a car this week going north passing all traffic using the south bound lane for at least 1/4 mile, running red light and going at least 60+ miles per hour… it is a regular drag strip- no PD ever to be seen !

I have a lovely piece of property in Belhaven. I can’t get anybody to call me, or request an opportunity to visit it and go inside. It has been on the market a prettylong time. Is there something that I am not aware of?
It is not only Jackson where these heinous crimes occur. I live in reunion in Madison city, and we recently had an arrest for failure to stop at a stop sign.

Roadblocks and searches recently worked well in Memphis, in conjunction with feds, which seized 2,100 illegal firearms, made 13,000 arrests, seized fentanyl and other drugs, significantly reducing violent crime. K9s should sniff Crump and Sharpton, as well.
It may be outside Dokka Chief's expertise to organize curfew and roadblocks, but she's getting 150K/yr plus a golden parachute for termination? Ask for Federal help if she can't do her job.
JPD will send more cruisers to run radar and ticket the whites in Eastover and JA area. Same as always. They can’t dust for fingerprints but they sure are quick to write a ticket. They don’t fight crime anymore. They’re only traffic cops now anyway.

Jackson got sued for conducting roadblocks after the then-chief idiot of JPD announced that they were being done for all the reasons that are unconstitutional. Jackson had to settle that lawsuit because nobody governing this city has an IQ over 20. Don't know what the status of that is now but you can google it.
