The Capitol Police issued the following statement.
At approximately 8:30 a.m. on July 20th, Capitol Police responded to Sheppard Brothers Park regarding a deceased subject.
Upon arrival, officers located the subject with an alleged gunshot wound to the head.
No arrest has been made and anyone with any information is asked to contact Capitol Police at 601-359-3125. No further comment will be made at this time.

An "alleged" gunshot wound?? Are you serious? Are wounds now innocent until proven guilty, too? For real, though, if you're writing press releases, you should know the difference between "alleged" and "apparent." At least "succumbed" didn't make an appearance in this one.
Lots of things can be "alleged" and "apparent" until it's proven one has "succumbed".
Was the victim an alleged person?

The tracker is no longer available via the main menu where it was, previously, easily found.
Most murders are notoriously spontaneous and therefore hard to prevent (but not impossible). Pay attention instead to the other crime categories that reflect good policing.

The tracker is hidden. You have to go to Jackson Crime and click on "Jackson Homicide" that is camoflaged to look like a sub-header instead of a link.
We'd be able to do that if Jackson published UCR/NIBRS data

'Good policing' would be surprise roadblocks with searches executed in ripe parts of town to confiscate stolen and otherwise illegally possessed hand guns.
10:07, quite a few of the murders in Jackson could be prevented if the person who murdered someone was put in jail for the murders they had already committed.
