Just more race-baiting crap on social media. It is common for a restaurant's new ownership to change the menu. I wasn't aware ribs, tacos, quesadillas and chicken tenders were "black food." Silly me. The Facebook fools chimed in to support his grand conspiracy:
What’s crazy, this will bring more black foke down there now..we seem to migrate towards places that don’t respect us nor our black money… That tells me all l need to know!!! Impossible to exclude us. We drink and eat everything. Their drinks and menu never included all that anyway. Let me know what’s on the new menu because we need vegetables and water anyway!! What it appears is new management simplified the menu and made it less bar-food oriented. However, some people seem to think eating tacos and ribs are a civil right worthy of a march.

The business owners simply don’t get it. If you want to keep the culture out, institute a dress code. No hats, no hoodies, no see thru clothing, no exposed mid section, no skin tight leggings or booty shorts, no reeking of pot. Simple as that. I go to this bowling alley, and it is really nice, but the culture invades it. Unaccompanied kids running around, loud hollering, festering in the walkways, invading personal space. It’s annoying as hell. The owners of restaurants and entertainment places don’t understand that rules are popular, and they will make more money if they piss off the culture than pissing off the people with real money and an ounce of public decency.

The last time I was in the Pearl was two years ago. It was early on a Saturday night in the fall. There were only three customers - three black people sitting at the bar. It was very quiet. We took the corner table and ordered food and drinks. The bartender, who was black, then came over and started playing music on the speaker right next to us. It was too loud for us to talk so we picked up our drinks and moved to the bowling alley restaurant where the waitress was happy to see us; the restaurant itself seemed a little chaotic. But we felt as though that bartender did not want us there and I have not been back. Music would have been great. Loud music, not so much.
If you look for, and expect to find, racism everywhere, you will see it where it’s not. I’m sure that’s what Darion wants, though. I’m guessing Darion will try the new restaurant, be very boisterous, leave little to no tip, and pay only after trying to bully the waiter into comping his meal. Stay away, Darion.
You can't please everybody but some people take it personally if you don't please them. It's good that the Jackson area has enough options to serve most people. Pay no attention to the chronic complainers they will always find a reason to complain.

Hate to be that guy, but I'm enjoying watching from the sidelines while I have access to affordable municipal services that operate successfully on their own accord and enjoy non-racist food choices that appease normal people of all types. Rise up, jackson.

Both menus sound pretty-damn-wonderful, if you ask me. But there ARE fewer items, now, which sound downmarket and insulting. The lack of downmarket/insulting items, I presume, is what Mr. Byas finds discriminatory.
Since when, is a failure to pander to a group's stereotypical preferences, considered Discrimination?
Oh, well, I remember when Lafayette's Festival International (Francophone in theme, with many French-speaking nations represented - most bands and performers being nonwhite - and very good), got watered-down, and its focus got fuzzy, because the usual complainers complained that it was not about THEM or THEIR preferences in music. (even though many of the performers "looked like them", and even though the whole premise of the event is about broadening one's musical tastes - you know: the 'International' part).
Festival International is largely privately-funded (oil/petrochemical companies, including a couple of ours), and attracts an international crowd. But the whole thing had to be dragged-down in tone, by a group of locals, who had to hear THEIR usual, stereotypical (decidedly non-Francophone) music.
I suppose it's the same thing, with the bowling alley's menu.
