Limestone, bronze, silver, gold, cedar, jewelry, and other materials were used to build Solomon's temple. It was an expression of faith, a compact between the Lord and his people. It was torn down after the people strayed. Herod rebuilt it and it was torn down again. Such are things of this world as they never last. Quoting 1 Peter 2, the late Dr. Frank Pollard preached Christ created a new temple, one made of living stones, stones created by faith. Enjoy the 1998 sermon posted below.
Scripture: 1 Peter 2: 4-5
(NIV) 4 As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house[a] to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
