Cindy Hyde-Smith Stays Put

Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith issued the following statement.

U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) today issued the following statement regarding the possibility of being asked by President-elect Donald Trump to serve as Secretary of Agriculture:

“It’s an honor to be mentioned as a potential nominee for Secretary of Agriculture, but my plans are to remain in the Senate and continue to deliver for the people of Mississippi.  As a former state agriculture commissioner and with my current committee assignments, I remain wholeheartedly committed to the ag community, its growth, and its success.  President Trump will always have my support, and I believe I can be most valuable to him and our country’s farmers and ranchers through my work in the U.S. Senate, particularly as we work toward a new farm bill and address other agricultural and economic issues.  As I have stated previously, I plan to seek re-election in 2026.”

Very nice way to announce you didn't get picked

You weren't asked. Plus you voted for Thune.

Anonymous said...

Mississippi's only conservative US Senator.

5:15- first part true. Second part not relevant.

She wasn't asked, wasn't going to be asked. This is all a Mississippi story, not a DC one. But, she is a loyal Trumpite, worked hard for his election, and will be a valuable ally of his in the Senate.

If she wanted to leave the Senate for a lower level than Secretary, she could probably have it. But most Senators, especially those low in seniority but on Approps and a buddy of POTUS, would rather stay in the Senate than take a two year stint before being fired and out.

Thune is a good man. Here is yet another example of some delusional person who thinks that it is they alone who understands what it means to be a Republican. Please learn a lesson from the Dems about being so dogmatic. It’s a big country out there and there ain’t but two parties.

Thune is a RINO. He is part of the swamp. It is what it is, and that is why she voted for him. Its all personal agenda, not the betterment of America.

Anonymous said...

5:56, Thune is a good man if you believe the status quo that brought America to point of $35T+ in debt (but who's counting?); disastrous foreign wars and various unnecessary, smaller interventions; along with the constitutional catastrophe o.k.a. the "wahr on druugz"; a border invaded by every lowlife from south america and hostile eastern nationals was "good." But some of us disagree.

6:55 and others love to use the term RINO for anyone with a half degree different view than Trump. It’s played. Meanwhile they’ll hail Gaetz the king of grifters as the savior of justice.

Thune and Cornyn are the favorite Republican senators of the Democrats.
I'm quite doubtful that Trump would ask CHS for this or any such position.

Anonymous said...

There has to be room for everybody. People who tell Republicans that they aren’t welcome unless you act and think a certain way will go the way of the Tea Party. Blue dogs and Yellow dogs meet Establishment vs MAGA. RINO is a stupid term.

Anonymous said...

Who put you in charge of party dogma? Settle down. It’s a big world out there.

@ "There has to be room for everybody."

No Karen, there does not.

Where is any evidence that she was on a short list? When it comes to 'farming', she's never been a farmer. Didn't her husband have some chickens or a bean garden or something equally as irrelevant to farming?

Neither Cindy nor the guy who appointed her to the senate have ever gotten mud on their boots and the only time they've seen or smelled cow shit was at the Dixie National riding on the back of a wagon.

On the very slim chance she would have been considered, by Trump, Tate was anxious to appoint Phil as her replacement.

Anonymous said...

Oh, is she still up there? You never hear from her until election time.

I dont think a lot of you RINOs and democrats realize that Donald Trump has a mandate from the people. You cheated again just like in 2020 but his support was so overwhelming that you simply didnt cheat enough to win again. You have been rebuked. The people want Matt Gaetz to release the evidence of corruption and treason. We the people want the traitors prosecuted and executed.

Room for everyone? Trump’s vote count says differently. We voted for an outsider for a reason. I fully expect him to act like it and that includes senate leadership too. I’m done with the establishment and pissed off my senator didn’t vote how her constituents told her to. So yeah, she wasn’t asked and this press release is a joke.

Any RINO who didn't loudly speak up, and went along with Dem agendas is suspect. And "anyone with half a view different than Trump" is really saying "anyone with half a few of the very large Electoral and Popular MAJORITY of Americans" whose values him in office to represent the Constitution to the letter. Time will tell, but RINOS are as delusional as DEMS and will lose, and be exposed for their "anti-American" stance which is chock full of unwanted compromise.

Great! Mississippi needs a strong, forceful, articulate, confident representative in Washington.

Yes, Heinrich. In a democracy it does. You seem to forget your civics lesson. You are free to move to some other state if you don’t like the one you are in. The difference is when the Karens or the Chads take over government and attempt to impose their beliefs through power on the rest of the population. That is when you fight back not when someone hurts your feelings because they don’t think like you. It’s called f-e-d-e-r-a-l-i-s-m.

Hyde-Smith is smart she knows how long those Trump appointments last! You are a Great! Great! person today Cindy, tomorrow depending Trumps mood you are a lousy Senator and person. You are safer in the Senate, it ain’t about your loyalty to Mississippi

Anonymous said...

@10:50 - No, there does not. The current culture war front line of Pop Culture proves the necessity of Gatekeeping.

Anonymous said...

Truth be told Trump can’t poach too many Senators because he needs them for approval of appointments and for passing legislation.

Anonymous said...

I find it humorous that there are some that think Trump, and his supporters, should alter their positions, when it is plain the left doesn't moderate theirs.

Anonymous said...

Hyde Smith has always and will always be a lightweight

Anonymous said...

Oh well. Mississippi's loss if she stays in the Senate.

Anonymous said...

We need to wake up in Mississippi, Cindy and Wicker are nothing more than establishment tools and they and along with their cronies will do everything to disrupt President Trump's agenda! Just look at their previous voting record and quit watching main stream media.

Anonymous said...

Well, we do have Uncle Ben who can mumble and stumble his way through a speech with the best of 'em.

Anonymous said...

Remember: Both Wicker and Bryant Hyde-Smith are in the senate today because they were put there by gubernatorial appointment and for no other reason. Imagine Tater having the opportunity tomorrow to appoint.

Anonymous said...

Another choice from MS would have been Andy Gipson, a.k.a. “The Hat”

Except, anon at 8:46, this is not a democracy. Turn your cap around.

You chide someone else for skipping civics class and there you sit, drinking a rum slurpy and chomping on Cheetos thinking our government is a democracy?

Anonymous said...

Senator Wicker will be Chair of Armed Services Committee. And decision maker over billions of $$. Mississippi will get a large chunk of those $$.

Anonymous said...

@5:46pm - Ah yes, keep them sweet sweet blue state dollars coming to this red shit hole.

Anonymous said...

Cindy = INEPT

Anonymous said...

But, but, how could Trump take away our democracy if we aren't a democracy. Those dems are so confused.

Anonymous said...

Do you think only people who think like you voted for him? Delusional.

Anonymous said...

Outsider? We are all Americans. I fully expect to have the same rights as the people who think they are the only ones who know what's right.

Anonymous said...

Suspect? Dang dude/dudette. Going to start some purges?

Anonymous said...

Please move to the place you imagine exists in your mind.

@11:05 PM Tolorating you cultural marxists is how we got trans grooming our kids. Trump has a mandate to clean house. The people have spoken. No more!

Anonymous said...

@9:39am - As opposed to all the non-trans pastors, coaches, teachers, lawmakers, etc. that have been grooming kids for millennia (that's thousands of years in case you need to Google that). The right-wing media (Fox News, Newsmax, Info Wars, etc.) that have been sued, lost, and made to pay hundreds of millions of dollars based on EVIDENCE PROVEN IN COURT of lying to you, still fills your tiny heads with this propaganda. And y'all eat it up because it keeps people that don't look like you or think like you down. But y'all keep on, Fascism is better than Marxism, I guess?

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
