This area does not have nearly the resources necessary to address the mental illness and drug problems infesting Jackson. The problems are most concentrated in the inner city area which is just fine with the surrounding communities and the rest of the state. Jackson does not have the money and everybody else will simply ignore the problem or dump their druggies in Jackson like old tires.
Too hot for clothes?
Some people truly need mental health help - and as a civil society we should provide such as it betters our community. Unfortunately, a lot of people just don't acknowledge the problem.
Some people need substance abuse help - and as a civil society we should provide such as it betters out community. Unfortunately, a lot of people think the solution is to make drugs legal and easier to get.
Some people just need prison - and as a civil society we should provide such as it betters our community. Unfortunately, a lot of people don't believe in incarceration.
Unfortunately, a large part of our society have made this problem worse.
Funding mental illness and treatment centers will not get the spotlight until the powers that be decide it should.
Right now, the popular causes are mostly limited to DEI and LGBTQ+.
The leaders who "care" only care about any cause when that concern is directly correlated to increased money, power or votes for them personally.
And the JPD response time is..............
The main problem is the "men" of that community are satisfied with watching it all happen while doing nothing more than provide running commentary. Back when that area was nice she would have been beaten and carted off within minutes.
Mental health issues are at an all time high everywhere. I was in Portland, Oregon two weeks ago and it's the same situation there. Only they have more broken down RV's lined up on the side of the streets that the homeless are living in.
I feel sorry for this woman, obviously has problems. I feel worse for these men, obviously don’t know compassion…
@12:20
Those RVs are actually owned by slumlords charging the druggies to live in them.
Quit blaming it on mental health. These are for the most part druggies. They want to be druggies. And, are going to continue to be druggies as long as people continue to enable them by blaming it on garbage excuses like mental health.
12:16 - ....non-existent. Thank GOD for Capitol Police.
My question is why didn't they stop her
12:16 "Carted off"? Carted off to where? Maybe carted off to inner city Jackson. Where else?
She was banging on the door of a place that should have the answer.
@12:16 A hospital most likely. In a functioning city people like that are removed from the scene quickly and evaluated before going to jail or a psych ward.
@12:16 is correct. The "men" in this video act like this was for their entertainment. They didn't call the police. They didn't try to stop her. Fine young men. They must have been on their lunch break from work.
Incarcerate their asses. Having a "mental episode" does not excuse them from their crimes. Its high time society tells the families of these mental cases to stuff it.
If a person having a "mental episode" killed someone do we object to them being charged with murder now?
“A civilized society is one which tolerates eccentricity to the point of doubtful sanity”- Robert Frost
Anyone who has read much Twentieth Century History, will know that totalitarian regimes love to use mental institutions as punishment centers/"reeducation" centers/extermination centers. "Inconvenient" people were/are sent to these, as a way of "neutralizing" them. Our own nation's descent into totalitarianism, will be greatly enhanced by a return to easy committal of persons to mental institutions.
It is entirely possible that the current 'Homeless Druggie Crisis', is being FOSTERED by the same fine folks who've brought-into-being, the entire panoply of unlikely developments we've witnessed since 2020. The short-term goal, is a backlash - an outcry for a return to easy institutionalization of persons deemed 'Mentally Ill'.
The End Goal for each of these post-2020 "unlikely developments", is clearly the downfall of Western Civilization. And, generally, to ensure the silent cooperation of those with power, each "development" (such as the recent "health crisis") seems to come with some sort of FINANCIAL INCENTIVES SYSTEM. (think about the bumper crop of billionaires, created by the recent Vaccine Initiative) Mental institutions can be highly profitable for key players, and you can bet that powerful functionaries have been courted, and promised "preferred participation" as investors.
Apparently, all it takes, to render a person's brain permanently incapable of proper functioning (ensuring permanent dependence upon psychotropic drugs), is one "course" of the right psychotropic drug. I have to wonder if the unfortunate woman in today's story, was, at one time or another, given one of those brain-altering drugs.
2:39 Exactly! There is AMPLE evidence out there to prove that not tolerating this type of behavior - by various means - will lessen OR stop it! On the other hand, what we allow, we get more of.
We no longer have (or utilize) the common sense of our grandparents. They lived in a CIVILIZED society, and it was a great one in which to live. It's a society that could be brought back, but only using the methods they would have employed....which is highly unlikely in a "society" that condones putting parents in jail or removing kids for spanking their OWN kids!
"Incarcerate their asses. Having a "mental episode" does not excuse them from their crimes". What is the charge you are referring to that would lead to their incarceration?
Needs a little 'pastoral counseling'.
Note to the whiners: Everybody who gets stoned does not need mental health intervention. She'll be fine tomorrow at Dollah Gentral.
I'm all for 1800s-style asylums. Make Whitfield Great Again!
"Those RVs are actually owned by slumlords charging the druggies to live in them."
You Fondrenites bitch if the homeless are ignored and now you bitch if they're provided rental RVs in which to live. You won't be satisfied until they're camped out on the front lawn of the Governor's mansion.
Why is Jackson such a hotbed for drug addicts who have fried their brains? Because of lax enforcement of drug laws in Jackson. A lot of folks you see holding up signs on street corners that appear to be strung out on something are not from Jackson. They have come here because it is a safe haven for drug users.
Is public indecency still a crime that is punishable 3:33?
I personally am not advocating for "incarcerating their asses" nor do I care, but if she is breaking a law, arrest her.
June 27, 2024 at 3:33 PM
Felony Vandalism, Public indecency, Drug posession (I guarentee you could search their belongings and find some).
@12:16PM, so is having her beaten and carted off within minutes your idea of a better outcome?
I don't know what the hell has warped your senses, 12:16 p.m. (the second one), but people in "nice" areas don't beat women (or anyone) and cart them off. If an arrest is needed, it is handled efficiently and compassionately.
Kingfish, I enjoy the news you share on your site. However, how in God's name did you attract all the crazies? Are there really that many around here?
Sorry, 1:13 p.m., churches can do a lot of good, but they are not the answer for mental illness. Try again.
This woman MAY BE quite literally demon-possessed. IF she is, she could be having demonically-enabled strength which would make her VERY dangerous AND VERY difficult to restrain. See Mark 5:1-20 and Acts Acts 19:11-20. The only permanent answer for a demon-possessed person today is for the person to become a TRUE Christian by believing in the TRUE GOSPEL of Jesus Christ.
Any possibility she's just angry with someone at the church?

That demon goes by many names: methamphetamine
, PCP, etc.
The city of Jackson tolerates these vagrants. That’s the problem. I just spent a week in downtown Birmingham and didn’t see a vagrant the entire time. I’m sure they are there, but they didn’t allow them in the downtown district. Jackson needs the get this problem under control.
@3:48pm
Bring back 1800’s asylums!
Around 1910, my great-grandmother and three of her children were incarcerated in such an institution after being gived a new fangled IQ test (they were recently developed and a convenient way to get rid of uneducated folks that didn’t want to work in the factories at 13 years old). The leader of the institution, Dr. Fernald (the institution now bears his name), got letters from a young Adolf Hitler who admired his work in eugenics.
My grandmother ran to another town to live with relatives before she could be gathered up in this great social experiment, and lived a normal productive life. Her mother, sisters, and brother weren’t so lucky.
My great grandmother is buried in very small cemetary on the institurion’s grounds, with a headstone the size of a paverstone with the marking “Pxx”. The “P” was for protestant, the “xx” is a number. I won’t give you the “xx”, because you don’t need to learn her identity. The medical records of this institution have never been released, even to the families.
Institurions like this sprung up all over America in the latter 1800’s and early 1900’s as a way to solve the problems of a disgruntled working poor. This was before, and a principal driver for, the the founding of unions decades later. The details of the the atrocities in these places were revealed late last century, but they weren’t shuttered untill nearly the 1990’s.
You are yearning to bring these back? If I’m in charge, you’ll be the first one in!
You need to learn a whole lot more about the world other than how great anything ever was in this state. Because it never was, and with your ideas, never will be.
And @3:22pm you’ll be the second institutionalized. In fact, the screening on this site for malfunctioning brains yields a great many candidates who are so out of touch with reality…they really should be inside.

Yes. Carrot and stick. They can either go to a shelter or be incarcerated. You don't get to be a wild hellion and make everyone elses life miserable.
8:47 AM & 8:51 AM
"Muh Nah-tzee" is the only argument you have.
June 28, 2024 at 8:47 AM, great story fam, do you have any more fairytales?
8:47 AM just one question. What was the plan on making a living if they did not want to work?
I see several comments "Why Didn't They Stop Her" Have y'all not been watching the news about the prosecution of those that tried to stop someone. Why would I stick my neck out to stop some Dude or Dudette doing something to someone or something where I would get a harsher punishment for trying to stop the crime than the criminal committing the crime. Hate to state the obvious, but you voted for it, now live in the pile that you created. It is a crying shame what is happening. Something needs to be created to help her and those like her, but I'll be moseying down the street minding my own business if I see something like that.
June 28, 2024 at 8:47 AM, do you have anything to support your rant, like links?
I don't know what the answer is, Kingfish. In a perfect scenario, we would have safe, clean, properly staffed places that could help folks like this. Not like the old insane asylums, I mean something like a halfway house with medical folks who could help.
The Republicans have been cutting funding for mental health, law enforcement etc for years in order to justify the ending of the state income tax. The releasing of the mentally ill into our community instead of keeping them at Whitfield is the reason we have the mentally ill homeless population. The wait times to enter drug rehab at Whitfield is ridiculous and even worse is the backlog of drug crime results from the state crime lab (over 1 year in most cases). Why are prisoners waiting for trials in Hinds County - no autopsy reports! Why not complain to the “tough on crime” Republicans who have defunded the prosecution of criminals?
Those who are ignorant of history are destined to repeat it.
