MRA Players & Parents Attacked at Tourney

Some people  just can't handle losing.

The story is some Madison-Ridgeland Academy students participated in the Shootout of the South 7-on-7 football tournament at Pulaski Academy in Pulaski, Arkansas.  MRA was 7-1 going into the match with undefeated Bryant High School out of southwest Little Rock.

There is supposed to be no tackling but tackle Bryant did when MRA started spanking that Arkansas ass.  Bryant players started tackling MRA players - hard.   The MRA parents understandably objected. The Bryant female supporter with the umbrella attacked an MRA parent and a full-scale brawl ensued.  One MRA parent suffered a broken jaw.

Pulaski employed only one referree and one security guard at the tournament.

Typical Arkansas behavior.

I wonder ... how many Arkansas parents were wearing plastic pig helmets ?

Anonymous said...

It’s typical behavior alright but being in or from Arkansas didn’t have anything to do with it.

You see that type behavior in all states and cities.

If you go to the ghetto, expect to encounter ghetto behavior.

One ref and one security guard is just plain negligent. If you must be inclusive, include adequate security.

So, Germantown is pancakes to MRA. You might expected a bunch of high school kids to fight. The real scum are the parents who can’t control themselves. Only at MRA will you see this kind of arrogance and childish behavior. I’ve got my whole life mortgage to the hilt, you better not touch my little Johnny.

bad judgements on both sides , MRA's quest for the holy grail leads to ruin yet once again....bad call coach !

@7:13 pm So, youth and parents have no expectation of decency and safety because why? Shouldn't matter what race, mixed, rich or poor. It's sports. If the event unfolded as described, then what should do? I hope someone filed charges or will sue. the only event I would go to knowing there would be a fight and I could be harmed is a fight.

MRA wasn’t at fault. It has zero to do with the school

6:47 for the win!

This will become more commonplace as sports teams are merged all into one conference under the banner of DEI.

Can't wait for the JPS vs Prep game on JPS soil.

I grew up in Greenville, Ms. Which has a bridge to Arkansas. Even at the immature age of 15 or 16, we knew not to fool with those people.,

I don't have enough patience to try to sort that video out. Talk about crunk!

Lemme tell you my hearing won't ever be the same tho!

Also- No wonder why this type of extracurricular competiton is banned by MSHAA.

This wasn't about Arkansas.
This wasn't about only one referee or security guard.
This wasn't about a parent objecting.
This wasn't about MRA.

Kingfish never allows me to mention common denominators, so I'll just leave it to your imagination.

So mouthy MRA sports parents FAFO?

Knew it was coming.

Anonymous said...

ahhh yes the beautiful people of madison county .

rather than have their coach call the team off the field and leave, the parents have to mix it up with a bunch of ghetto blasters and get their ass whipped.

i bet that dude with the pink shirt wished he was back in the grove getting drunk.

Then why does Ridgeland High School have a 7 v. 7 tournament each summer?

“Only at MRA will you see this kind of arrogance and childish behavior.” What an absolute ignorant comment.

Parents with a child starting in the K program and staying through 12th grade can expect to spend the better part of $200k for private school tuition per child at MRA (IF the tuition stayed the same as today).

So, it is hard as hell to understand W_F these coaches are thinking. They’re supposed to be teachers as well and have an IQ high enough to understand why parents are investing this kind of $$$ into private school for their children.

Anonymous said...

The video is irrelevant. Shows nothing but a bunch of grown folks and one side picked the biggest guy, who was backing up, and took him down. MRA parents simply educated fools. If they aren’t educated, their parents are paying tuition while the mom and dad ride around with decals. MRA parents are yuppies and wouldn’t know how to defend their children without a phone call to the attorney. Problem is, the attorney thinks the same way. This won’t get posted, but oh well.

These summer 7 on 7 drills are seldom organized like regular sanctioned football games scheduled in the fall. School officials must be ever-vigilant and insist on adequate security for both the participants and spectators especially when going out of state or into foreign territory. Also some of these "spectators" take the competition in a picnic atmosphere complete with plenty of liquid refreshments and get physically involved with other fans who are in close proximity. Live and Learn MRA!

No shots fired. Slackers.

Fascinating behavior said...

MRA parents started running that mouth, but quickly realized homie don't play that. Parents don't try to coach or officiate from the sidelines, let the coaches and game offices do that.

Anonymous said...

Come on now, MRA will recruit half that Arkansas team. They’ll be Patriots within 6 months.

"Can't wait for the JPS vs Prep game on JPS soil."

Way back when I was in high school and playing football, most of the Jackson teams were creampuffs.

Maybe they still are, but the fans are dangerous.

Helicopter parents for sure. Big crowd for a 7v7 scrimmage. Should have been at the mall, Coach would have appreciated it.

Anonymous said...

I’m sure the big white guy is innocent. I’ll go out on a limb and say he has probably never used his size to be an ass or to intimidate anybody.

Anonymous said...

Kudos to Pulaski crowd for showing restraint. In some places there would have been gun shots.

Anonymous said...

Most of the time a video that comes out of Pulaski Co. AR is a Arkansas State Trooper chasing a stolen Challenger on Intestate 30 coming though down downtown Little Rock.

Anonymous said...

This surely will be a boost for next years enrollment.

Anonymous said...

5:50am- showing restraint? Really??

Anonymous said...

How is this event being reported in Arkansas? I'd like to know their spin on the fight and who they blame for it.

Anonymous said...

MRA played in the finals against Bryant at a Pulaski tournament? Must have been in the small school division. Pulaski whipped MRA in real football last year.

Cretans come in all sizes, shades, and locations.

It seems to me that there were those on both sides trying to stop the stupidity and some of both sides who exacerbated it.

Those of us who have not suffered convenient memory loss remember that segregated white public high schools had "fights" that broke out during, before and after sports events. There would be a drunk parent in the stands or the school bully or once, I remember a coach with anger management problems. I even remember, one girl pushing another and the coaches jumping in to break it up in a girl's
basketball game.

At a private schools of renown here, each had an incident quietly handled, but this was, of course, before cell phones or hand held cameras.

The bottom line is this is event indicative of nearly nothing other than gossips have been elevated in our society instead of shunned. The responsible adults of MRA and Pulaski will deal with it.

Rotten apples can be found in most every barrel. Those who are mature and responsible and smart, know that and figure they should tend to their owm barrels and orchards and not everyone elses!

at the end, it wasn't 7 on 7, it was 5 on 1. draw your own conclusions

Anonymous said...

@7:48, If you consider kicking a field goal to win with no time on the clock, then yes, Pulaski whipped MRA. MRA also took the 7A state champs to overtime at their house, and Hartfield could probably beat any team in the state, regardless of size. Bryant High School won 53 games in a row before losing last year. MAIS schools don't need to play in a small school division.

Anonymous said...

CORRECTION: Pulaski Academy (PA) is in a nice part of Little Rock, not the ghetto. Also, in Ark. all schools (public and private) play each other and are under the same org, the AHSAA. Public schools are classified by enrollment #s. Private schools are classified by a 4 yr avg of wins and losses in each sport. PA and Little Rock Christian Academy are in 6A (7A is highest) in football because of their records (actually 3A or 4A in enrollment). This is to compensate for the public schools having boundaries & private schools being able to draw from a wider area. You do get a true state champ in every sport.

Anonymous said...

This is not the 90s. The upper MAIS teams can compete. Whether you use the Alabama method and multiply enrollment by 1.4 to classify or the Arkansas method and reclassify based on winning percentage, it needs to happen in Mississippi.

As bad as the MHSAA is, the MAIS is worse.

"Rotten apples can be found in most every barrel. Those who are mature and responsible and smart, know that and figure they should tend to their owm barrels and orchards and not everyone elses!"

Can we agree the percentage of rotten apples in the barrel is important ? Your analogy is weak, liberal attempt to spin this situation away from the facts.

Just another example of why, in a thread earlier this year, 'The Football Sickness' was listed as a reason why people leave Mississippi, as soon as they're old enough to rent a U-Haul.

I will add that our neighbors in New York and Oregon - the ones who grew up in the Midwest - also speak with bitterness, of their Midwestern communities' having revolved around sports. Bad things happen, when idiots are given power, and sports just add another class of idiots with power to abuse. If communities really want to know (and if they even CARE), why their Best-&-Brightest LEAVE...

Anonymous said...

These MRA parents should hold their kids back another year.

Anonymous said...

It's honestly pathetic that adults behave in a manner similar to this. I think MRA doing the right thing trying to get the players in good competition, and that's honestly been what's made them into a better football team, as well as the influx of transfers and students into the school. That being said, there is no reason for a group of adults to get into a full fledged fight in front of your kids, and truly isnt a lesson kids should be exposed to. Recently we have seen students and such acting out, and that's because little eyes watch us in all we do.

Typical MRA result.

all these cheeseballs on this thread coming up with all kinds of excuses for the beautiful people of madison county.

i coached youth sports for years. when refs couldn't control a game id take my team and leave......screw em. this game dont mean anything anyway.

when MRA players started getting ''tackled hard'' the remedy is call your team off the field and split- leave- get in your high end SUVs and go!
if you get hassled attempting to leave , well.....dial 911. it aint like nobody out there got a phone.

It speaks volumes about the coach of the other school. He could have put a stop to the tackling if he wanted to. Pull the kid/kids from the game and send them to the locker room or home. I’m not at all excusing the parents’ behavior on the sidelines. But, the coach could have easily corrected the problem and taught a good life lesson before things got out of hand.

Yawn. The fight was very unfortunate but not shocking. It isn’t indicative of typical AR behavior as some have stated above. I grew up in Central MS until I got in the workforce 27 years ago. I migrated to AR then and still live there. Growing up in the Rankin County Super Bowl, I saw far worse 30+ years ago. But things like this sadly occur commonly all over the country now. Parents and youth athletes are out of control, period. Pulaski Academy is a great school and I guess assumed that participants would be behave better. Hopefully lesson was learned. As for Bryant, that HS has won the 7A state football championship like 4 out of the last 5 years. For those that think MRA could/would whip their a$$es in a real game, I’d love to see that. Wouldn’t happen. Ever. 7 on 7 is something to keep athletes in shape in the offseason. Bryant recruits the best players from 3-4 counties to play there every year. Sorry. MRA fans, enjoy the 7 on 7 win. And, realize it doesn’t equate to anything.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
