MDAC Commish Andy Gipson issued the following statement.
This week, the Mississippi Agriculture and
Livestock Theft Bureau (MALTB) recovered stolen agricultural equipment, with an estimated value of $210,000, in Hinds County.
On April 30, 2024, the Mississippi Agriculture and Livestock Theft Bureau was asked to assist in the investigation
of a stolen Cat 299D3 skid steer stolen out of Copiah County.
The
initial report was taken by the Copiah County Sheriff’s Office. The
equipment was being used to clear beetle infested timber along highways
and utility right aways. During the course of this investigation,
investigators uncovered information that led them to an area in rural
Hinds County.
MALTB investigators, along with the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office investigations, Hinds County Patrol Division and Hinds County Emergency Operations Center, were able to locate and recover the stolen equipment. Though unrelated to the initial report, a 16-foot enclosed trailer that was reported stolen in Hinds County last month was also recovered at the scene.
The
skid steer with mulching head is valued at approximately $196,000,
and the trailer is valued at approximately $14,000. MALTB Director Dean
Barnard said, “This investigation and the recovery of $210,000 in
combined ag equipment was
a law enforcement team effort. This is an open and ongoing criminal
investigation.”
Director Barnard would like to commend all his MALTB investigators, the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office, Hinds County Patrol Division and Hinds County Emergency Operations Center for their continued effort in the recovery of stolen equipment.

Someone must have steered them to that location.
Just some good ole' boys borrowed them for a while and got some work done.
"an area in rural Hinds County"
Not exactly helpful.
Want to bet Cat can track their equipment.
he is being held accountable for his own actions and decisions
roe V Wade will cost him the election and his freedom !!!
deal with it hillbillies
and drump repeating lies does not change a thing :)
Sheriff Andy always gets the criminals!
...say again? Who is the (alleged) thief?
@5:30 PM has a bad case of TDS
Congratulations. That equipment owner got more help out of HCSO than all of the other residents of the county. They must have been informed that the media would be there.
@5:30, your rant is a result of too much fumes of some sort or a chemical or emotional imbalance. Your comment does mot apply to this post or either I missed something. Either way, put the crack pipe away…please.
@5:15 you are correct and anyone that has equipment that does not have a tracker installed really needs to think about getting one for each piece of equipment. I know because I had to learn the hard way. Thieves have been around since the beginning of mankind but after awhile you just want to take the law into your own hands. If you’re in Hinds county you have no assistance from anyone.
May 4, 2024 at 5:30 PM, who, exactly, in the article, are you referring to? What would be more interesting to me is for you to name the mountain, in Mississippi, that these hillbillies call home. Have we annexed Tennessee, and I didn't hear about it?
I don’t know what TDS is, but it does appear that 5:30 is a tad off topic.
I'm still tryin' to connect the dots between ag-equipment theft, abortion, Trump and a mountain-top in Tennessee.
Wonder how they are coming with recovering all the stuff that was stolen from Central Hinds Academy
