Update: Lewis is captured.
Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones issued the following statement and mug shots.
A Hinds County grand jury indicted Lewis in April for receiving stolen property, failure to stop for police officer, and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. Spring was arrested for burglary and possessing a controlled substance. He also faces charges for a previous jailbreak and a parole violation.

I told y’all Tyree wasn’t competent enough for this job. But hey, who am I and what do I know.
They could lay land mines around the fence perimeter and stop almost all but the first one or two escape attempts. Loss of life and legs would be an excellent deterrent to attempted escape. Also the guards would know an escape had been attempted right away, with excellent notification provided by te land mine going off. Just listen for the "BOOM" and you will know someone failed to escape.
Don't worry, Credell's on the job.
Does catch and release hasten 25M construction funding for new lockup?
Calm down they are going to Celebrate Memorial Day & Honor our Fallen! They will be back in the morning! Call Bennie because he secured the Building Contract on the construction of the Fine Jail.
again?!?!!?!? When is the federal government going to take over the raymond jail?
This is what you get when you have 5-6 people showing up for the shift at the Hinds County Jail. There is NO way 5-6 people can manage a shift at the jail. Tyree is too busy getting in front of a tv camera.
When they literally just walk out, is that really considered a jail break?
It's not a money issue, and it's not a structure issue. It's incompetent leadership at the top. Period. As long as the focus is on the law enforcement side of the house to the exclusion of the jail, this will keep occurring.
They’ll pop up… always do!!
K-9s are ready to go….
I hope nobody has to die this time before one (or both) of them kills himself.
Have they ever given any thought about having guards in the night time? Prisoners seem to just wander around after dark.
I live near Raymond and just found out an hour ago. And to think, they are clearing and grubbing for a new jail so the status quo can deepen their pockets even further. It’s Time to leave Hinds
@11:23 AM 🤣🤣🤣🤣 “excellent notification” of a breach/escape would be provided by the land mine explosion. Prob wake errybody TF up.
@12:37 Federal judge took it over unless I’ve got that conflated with water, sewer, and the like. Prob need to put Mr. Heflin over the jail.
Do they have a legit excuse for ZERO alerts going out to the law-abiding n Raymond? Or would that be a dead giveaway and too embarrassing that it took 24 hours to realize the head count was short?
Tyree will explain this latest jail break as he does in his usual pressers.
He will speak in a monotone pattern and use "big words" that he thinks might impress his constituency.
Idiots would have gotten off with a hand slap.
What are the odds of these guys being caught and brought back?
4:18, at least he doesn't end every sentence with "right?".
You can be sure that some of the bulls (deputies) were taking turns sleeping and no one watch watching the security video.
The HMFIC Tyree stated that he needs more money to fix things. What a jackwagon.
Why do prisoners and ex prisoners tattoo their faces? It screams “I am an ex prisoner” as if it is something to be proud of. It is not like the Navy veterans I grew up seeing the same thing with.
I think Tyree and the mayor are joined at the hip because it is always "more money" needed.
If Tyree wants to improve the jail security the prohibit personal cell phones of on-duty personnel. Instead of texting and surfing the web maybe they would just do their job.

6:42 - the answer is “ Simon City Royals”
I’m at Deweys Seafood in Destin Florida I THINK I just saw the two escapees enjoying a seafood platter! I allegedly heard them say that they had to leave the jail because they couldn’t sleep, the jailer was snoring too loud.
Deputy Baretta sez: "Don't do the crime if you can't do the time"
Well, the sheriff says that more money is needed to improve on the performance of “his” duties. I suggest, as a previous poster has already mentioned, that the water, and sewer, czar be consulted. I'm sure he could come up with a plan to connect property taxes with future correctional financial needs.
They were found missing during an "official headcount." Are there also "unofficial" headcounts?
Stop showing those Mission Impossible type movies.
to 6:42......you wouldn't know the simon city royals from the bay city rollers.
I love that the agreed upon fact is that the jail was built poorly and it is not secure.
But there is zero follow-up regarding accountability for the sweetheart contracts that were doled out to imbeciles for campaign paybacks. nepotism etc.
So we all agree this jail is shit.
But we have no plans to prevent the same mess from unfolding again. That is the most Mississippi thing ever.
