Some scumbags, excuse me, environmental protestors tried to ruin a Van Gogh painting. The Telegraph (U.K.) reported:
Two Just Stop Oil activists have thrown cans of Heinz tomato soup over Vincent Van Gogh's "Sunflowers” painting in the National Gallery.
They entered the London venue and tipped the liquid over the artwork, thought to be worth several hundred million pounds, at around 11am on Friday before gluing themselves to the wall underneath the painting.
The activists, who were wearing Just Stop Oil T-shirts, were named by the group as Phoebe Plummer, 21, and Anna Holland, 20.
Van Gogh's painting is covered by glass, so was not damaged, but there is "minor damage to the frame", the National Gallery said.
Both protesters were arrested for criminal damage and aggravated trespass.Article.
Actually, in this case, the Van Gogh is worth more than the lives of these two malcontents. The savages deserve a good flogging but will probably get the standard non-punishment all too common today.

Next thing we might start to see will be self-immolation...setting yourself on fire. Sigh.
What did they squeeze into their hand & rub on their back????
Up until now, I was a pro-oil, pro-gas vehicle, pro-drilling redneck. But now that I've seen a Van Gogh covered in tomato soup I feel I must seriously reevaluate my position.

They squeezed super glue on their hand a fastened themselves to the wall.

They glued their hands to the wall. Stand aside, Greta Thunberg!
My understanding is glue. They then planned to glue themselves to the wall.
Strange how you posted this while ignoring the American tourist who destroyed a Roman statue in Vatican City last week. Willful ignorance, or selective?

I think self sacrifice is a much more noble cause if you wish to protest something.
Its glue that they are applying to themselves and the wall.
I hope they let them stayed glued there.
Such attention starved idiots.

Sounds good....pass the popcorn.
Why do they think pink and purple hair looks good?
Liberalism is a mental disorder!!!
This is what happens when no one asks you out for a date....
I think they should just leave them glued to the wall.
I think they want to stay at that wall since they glued themselves to it. I would think they should be able to do exactly that. Let them stay glued to the wall.
If anything, the acidic sugarwater that is "Tomato Soup", probably gave the glass a good, deep cleaning. Catsup (like most commercial tomato products) is great for stripping glue, when you're ripping-up an old vinyl floor, to expose the concrete slab, below. And it can strip the baked-on grime from pots and pans. But if the frame had a gesso substrate, I can see how it would incur damage.
On the subject of oil - and alternatives to its use - has anyone been reading about the Vanadium battery technology, paid-for by USA Taxpayers, then GIVEN to China? US companies are having trouble getting licenses for using that technology.
I never knew that Van Gogh was an oil baron. Black gold, Texas tea.
soup meets glass

This solved everything.
So stupid. Their hair dye, tennis shoes, vinyl on their shirts, are all made from components of oil.
Those kids are going to get in Dutch for doing this.
Now that they have received their initial 15 minutes of fame - off to the Tower of London and off with their heads!
Looks like the Brits are having a time with their youths.
While over here we are killing ours off by gun violence.
Where is the "I'd hit that" guy?
Don’t you know… it takes oil to make the van “gogh”
