The Poor People's Campaign issued the following statement.
The people of Jackson have been the real heroes of this water crisis. We
have been resilient and resourceful despite the state withholding
resources while our infrastructure crumbled for decades. We even
previously committed to paying higher taxes to help fix this problem.
We’ve done more than our share. Now the state and the federal government must do theirs!
Please join us for another Mississippi Moral Monday March on October 10,
2022. We will gather at the Smith Robertson Museum starting at 5:00 PM
CT and begin marching at 5:30 PM CT. We will end with a rally at the
intersection of Capitol St. and Congress St at 6:00 PM.
At the rally we will hear from leaders of the Poor People’s Campaign,
members of the Mississippi Rapid Response Coalition, and those directly
impacted by the water crisis. We hope you will join us on
MONDAY, OCTOBER 10TH AT 5:30 PM CT in calling for the state and federal
government to act and provide infrastructure funds to the city.
Please spread the word! We hope to see you there!
All the best,
Rukia Lumumba
Executive Director

Can I drop off my trash at this event?
Funny how she sister conveniently leaves out criticism of the City doing its part in this mess.
Rather than organizing a march, perhaps she could give an internet tutorial on how to post a job on Indeed.
Rukia, Jackson received plenty of funding. They squandered it. Or they didn't collect it. They mismanaged it. You weren't treated worse than other areas. You were actually treated better, but it's still not enough for you. It's never enough.
The state already did theirs and fixed the water plant!
Do they not understand that the state government just spent a couple of million dollars getting the water where you can drink it now and Roger Wicker just got 22 million directly for Jackson. It's has and never will be about the water for them, it's about power and socialism.
Though the dogs bark in the desert, the caravan moves on.
Did you get a water bill, Sister Rukia? And was it based on actual usage?
I would to have five foot signs listing dates of failures of the City of Jackson to respond to the water plant. Have people with these signs along the road of the March. Then have them moved so that the “speakers” and/or media see that they are prominently displayed.
(Date) Fire at water plant.
(Date) Jackson told by Dept of Health to order replacement part
(Date) 89 days later Jackson orders $50k part.
Water treatment plant: total costs $1.5M
Pumps repaired X.
General maintenance X
Lighting and Safety systems repairs.
(Date) EPA required Jackson to hire new employees for plant
(Date) CoJ new “qualified” positions advertised: 0
(Date) CoJ minimum staff needed 10. Staffing level: 2
Just another woke shakedown of the state. No amount of money is ever going to be enough for that group.
"The Man" is bad, but "The Man's" money is good.
11:02 You are exactly right & internal audit needs to be done on the Mayors sister. Nepotism is against state & federal laws. How much money did she receive
Might want to bring your own weapons, drinking water and trash bags(AND a way to haul them off). Other than that everything else you need will be provided.
Maybe I’ll get a rally to meet them at Capitol. We’ll be the ones in chairs with bottled water with shirts that say Free the Taxpayers !
To the comment I didn't approve, who are you talking about? I'm looking in docket but don't really know who to look for.
Maybe I’ll get a rally to meet them at Capitol. We’ll be the ones in chairs with bottled water with shirts that say Free the Taxpayers !
Attach signs reading: "Strong, Fabulous and Free" to all broken bridges, leaking sewers, cratered streets, rotted libraries, ruined real estate, and the feckless incompetent mayor F-Up.
Gaslighting Jackson's sheeple, one event at a time.
Go to the Poor People's Campaign website and read up on them. Check out their rallying cry...it looks familiar because it is. Now go read this: Iosif Stalin, Order No. 227. July 28, 1942
Draw your own conclusions. They're after the kulaks, wreckers, and counter revolutionaries in my opinion.
Take note of "Keep It Public". The socialist agenda of those who support this mayor and his sister would extend direct elected control over ALL governmental services no matter the consequences. This may work in communities with vast resources but it can result in disaster for a city in economic decline like Jackson whose public works departments cannot stay ahead of rotting infrastructure and increasing demand. Some services are better provided by a private company. The people of Jackson should not care if a private company makes a reasonable profit for providing them with essential services which the city fails to do. Slogans and marches will not stop the exodus of tax paying citizens and businesses from this city if essential services continue to be mismanaged. Damn the slogans, do what works!
"We’ve done more than our share. Now the state and the federal government must do theirs! "
I call BS. These people contributed to the problems. They haven't fixed anything.
Maybe citizens if they are sick of this should VOTE OUT the LUMUMBAs.....
No mention of that, eh?
These people make me sick.
Yes. The poor people!!! Nevermind the NE Jackson tax payers. These people need to go back to the front porch and sip there 40s
"Federal money" = bribing the sheeple with their own money.
News Director: "Make sure you have a tight shot of the speakers, so that it looks like there's a crowd."
Fleece the land and any other sucker you can hoodoo.
Reminder that people like Saul Alinsky taught people like Rukia Lumumba to behave this way. They aren’t protesting real racism or real injustice. They are using a self-inflicted crisis as justification for the existence of their movement.
How is this”charity” not running afoul of the prohibitions on political activities?
These people (Lumumbas and crews) couldn't correctly identify a root problem to save their, well, water system, garbage collection, road bridge maintenance, etc. You know, those basic type services that are supposed to be provided and maintained by a municipality. Bridges and roads take a little longer to crumble, but rest assured if the course doesn't change there, it will be down the road. Blame will be shifted then as well, of course.
I went to the page and read their beliefs, they want to switch from a "war economy" to a "peace economy" I literally do not understand how anyone with ties to shit like this becomes mayor of a metropolitan city.
12:22, that was savage.
It is sort of funny that the people who demanded a country of their own cannot even keep the water running in a single city.
“We’ve done more than our share. Now the state and the federal government must do theirs!”
Yes, the mayor needs to keep his hair lines clean and that costs money!!
Free the land, clean the water, dump your boo boo into the pearl river
A bunch of loafers and parasites.
What is the share the state and feds should pay for a city to keep the water running, the streets paved, and the trash picked up? Other cities seem to be able to cover that cost themselves but they are not a radical city.
" Free the land from whom" ?
The LSD impaired protesters of the 1960s, made more sense than
these idiots.
I wonder if the sister is the unidentified female complainant in the NAACP administrative complaint filed with EPA?
So, the state pays a water bill and it pays for repairs to the facility that provides the water.
Seems to me it should be one or the other, not both.
These people demonize whites in NE Jackson and the burbs… thank god for NE Jackson bc these idiots think all is free. They grew up on an entitled mentality. Sad but true
Look what government dependence has created.
They are doing their best to free the land from anyone with a lick of sense and two nickels to rub together. That's all it's going to be if they stay in power much longer -- land so devalued, it's free, covered with garbage soaked in non-potable flood water.
Band of Grifters. In a few short years they will have disappeared like Gypsies in the night. But their bags will be rattling with the sounds of things that once belonged to others.
It seems like many, many democrats from Jackson slept through their HS Government class as they don’t seem to understand how municipalities work. They seem to think that the state is responsible for the city. I guess they don’t realize how incompetent they look as they NEED help from the state/feds and yet every other water associations in the state runs effectively without state/federal intervention.
October 9, 2022 at 8:35 AM, self-awareness is foundational to true intelligence. If a person isn't aware of their strengths, and weaknesses, well. Do I need to go on?
Following this rule, you will find that true intelligence is in short supply. Of course, the marxist liberals may just change this definition, like they have so many others.
With them believing the changing of definitions actually changes reality, it only reinforces the validity of the rule.
Idiocracy, the movie, was prophetic.
Just as some expect the Federal Government to take care of them, the City expects the State government to take care of the City. Tracking? Catch the ink? And the beat goes on. I mean this in the kindest way. The educated taking care of the uneducated.
Was this a fundraiser? Isn't this a charity? Not registered with the Secretary of State, which is a requirement.
