“The first to plead his case seems just, until another comes and examines him.” Proverbs 18:17 As midterm elections get closer, debates between candidates become more important, and what passes as news coverage today will sway even more voters to the right or to the left.
Earlier this month a Monmouth poll asked voters about the importance of 12 issue areas the federal government should address. The top five areas rated either extremely or very important include inflation (82%), crime (72%), elections and voting (70%), jobs and unemployment (68%), and immigration (67%).
When President Biden was inaugurated and Democrats controlled both chambers of Congress, inflation was 1.4% in the 12 months ending in January 2021. Today inflation stands at 8.2%. Apparently, the U.S. inflation rate is not transitory. Led by exponential price hikes in the gas and oil industry, commodity prices lurched to record highs. Coincidentally, gas prices skyrocketed under President Obama.
Crime rates are normally measured locally, but the 2020 summer riots in major cities across America ignited rising concerns for all Americans. Daily random acts of violence have kept concerns about rising crime rates high at number two in the poll. “Defund the police” was a popular Democratic mantra during the riots, but Democratic candidates in this year’s election have distanced themselves from the movement.
The issue of elections and voting came in at number three in the poll at 70%. Considering that the Hillary Clinton camp contested the 2016 election and the Trump camp contested the 2020 election, Americans across the board have questioned the integrity of national elections enough to make them an issue.
The decline of America’s economy over the past two years has raised concerns about “jobs and unemployment.” During the Trump years America enjoyed good job numbers and record low unemployment rates in nearly every minority category. Remember when James Carville reminded candidate Bill Clinton, “It’s the economy, stupid!” Needless to say, Democrats are not running on the economy this year.
Immigration comes in at number five in the poll with 67% of those polled saying it’s extremely or very important. This may surprise voters who have heard relatively little news about our southern border. The Biden administration and nearly 100% of elected Democrats in Washington have insisted the border is secure. The establishment news media have essentially taken that ball of talking points and run with it. The biggest media-wide news story on immigration was Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ sending about 50 immigrants who had crossed the border illegally to Martha’s Vineyard. The story didn’t last long. Residents of the ‘sanctuary city’ ousted the immigrants in fewer than 48 hours.
Candidates in the midterm elections are sparring and trading barbs with their opponents to win their cases with the voters. Party loyalists on both sides are mostly staying true to their parties. Candidates continue to lie about what their opponents stand for. Voters will support those they like and oppose those who are mean or evil.
Many
years ago journalists focused on facts and issues rather than
personalities. From 1962 to 1981 CBS Nightly News Anchor Walter Cronkite
was known as the most trusted man in America. After giving his evening
audience the news of the day, he ended saying, “And, that’s the way it
is….” And, it was.

Hillary Clinton contested the election by trying to blame Comey's October announcement for her own campaign's voter reach-out issues. She didn't lose the 2016 election because of Comey - she lost because the Democratic Party ignored and/or took for granted large swaths of voting blocs, especially in the Midwest. Trump did not "contest" the 2020 election - after he had been repeatedly presented with irrefutable evidence that he lost, he and his advisors promoted numerous, illegal strategies to undermine the integrity of the election process itself. Did both candidates blame their failure to win on external forces that did not actually make or break their losses? Yes? But to say that both candidates "contested" the results is a false equivalency. Trump and his acolytes actively tried to undo the democratic process of American elections. Any person of any political stripe should recognize the difference.
@5:00 PM
There is far more evidence that the 2020 election was fraudulent than evidence that it was legitimate. The problem is that traitorous “journalists” refuse to report any of the damning evidence, and instead mock the messengers who attempt to present it. These are the same journalists who are lying that Jackson’s water crisis was caused by Republican white supremacy, instead of democrat incompetence. These are the same journalists who suppressed the evidence found on Hunter Biden’s laptop that proved Joe Biden was peddling influence through his son. Suppression of that story alone begs the question of legitimately of the press in the USA. Remember, not a single court permitted the evidence of election fraud to be heard. The judges instead ruled that their courtrooms weren’t the place to contest the legitimacy of the election. Meanwhile, there is new evidence uncovered of the election every single day.
@9:05. It's not up to journalists to produce evidence of election fraud. It's the responsibility of Trump and his sycophants to produce admissible evidence of such fraud. Over 50 lawsuits filed by Trump, every single one of them dismissed by the courts, and no production of any admissible evidence whatsoever. Double and triple hearsay, and outright lies just don't cut it in the real world. But keep drinking Trump's Kool-Aid if you enjoy it so much.
@ 7:54pm & 5:00pm:
Have you written about fifty concession speeches for democrat losses rolling steadily at you and your pathetic "but Jan 6" drama like an army of God?
The last presidential election was fixed. The news media put in the fix. For four years all we heard was Russia. Since then we have learned that Hillary paid for the Russian hoax and the news media ran with it. Hunter's laptop was passed off as part of the Russian hoax by the media. We let the news media choose our president and we did not even blink when they did it.
Now we know the lap top was Hunters. We know part of what was on it but the news media is still protecting Hunter and Joe. There is also a little thing called a diary. It belonged to Joe's daughter and told a few of the family secrets. The entire FBI, or the Clinton Crime Family, was called out to find the diary.
If the news media would have done their job of giving us the news instead of making up the news, Joe would still be at home in his basement and the country would not be in the shape we find it today.
The news media interfered with the presidential election and we let them. We are to blame for the downward spiral our country has been in.
October 23, 2022 at 7:54 AM, I was told that no court allowed evidence to be presented, is this true? If this isn't true, please tell me the court, and its jurisdiction?
No, I don't drink Trump's Kool-Aid, or anyone else's.
754 still drinks the “we got him this time” kool-aid, watches the Jan 6th dog and pony show with Bennie, and tells his 2 Twitter friends about Donny being in his nightmares.
Everything is going according to the Obama~Clinton~Biden Plan. The far right and election deniers are now in control of the GOP. It’s only a matter of time before it self destructs. January 6th was just the beginning, many more will test the rule of law and end up behind bars.
Democrats have tried to get everything they can think of to get Trump. Soon we will see the FBI arresting Trump for littering and jay walking. Maybe Benny can investigate it also. Hunter is flying around in Air Force 1 and laundering money. No wonder the democrats are going to lose control soon.
His bookkeeper is about to sing, the courts will rule, the judges will impose a sentence , they may be lenient, but guilty is guilty, appeals will just prolong the inevitable! He may perish first but jail is on the horizon .
It’s hard to believe some people still believe the stolen election lies. Not sure how we fix stupid, but something has to give.
It isn't hard to understand why people still think the last election was a fraud, it was. None of the judges would let it be shown in court. As long as that is the story the people will continue to believe the election was as crooked as hell. The judges can't let anything br brought to court as they know it was crooked.
@11:15 - it’s not that hard to understand why people believe it still in spite of no evidence ever being produced. People are dumb. I’m amazed these morons figure out how to breathe correctly.
As Rudy Giuliani famously said: “ we’ve got lots of theories, we just don’t have the evidence.” Unfortunately for the Republicans, theories based on zero evidence aren’t very convincing in court, and hence they were laughed out of every court.
October 24, 2022 at 3:20 PM, what court case was that? You're braying like a jackass on a cool morning, saying they were laughed out of court, which court heard the evidence? Don't go silent when challenged.
@3:49 - all of them, I believe it was over 50 cases lost. It’s quite impressive how they kept trying to win cases with zero evidence to present. So why don’t you show me the evidence that the election was stolen. Don’t go quiet now. Back up your moronic claims with some substance.
There was zero evidence of Russian collusion in the 2016 election. But a massive delegitimization effort was still made against Trump. The difference is how our leftist traitorous media conditioned the ignorant sheeple to accept the democrat party narrative. And they didn’t really bother to investigate anything suspicious from the 2020 election, like all the suitcases and coolers that were being brought in by Democrat ballot counters.
Today two more Republican plead guilty to voter fraud schemes. When will the right quit trying to steal elections? I guess they think the laws don’t apply to them or maybe they all just hate our democracy?
