A homicide took place at the Jubilee gas station on Highway 80 yesterday in Jackson. WLBT reported:
Jackson police are investigating a shooting that occurred Friday evening at a gas station off Highway 80 that left one dead and two injured.
According to police, an unidentified man was seen on the Jubilee Gas Station surveillance footage fighting three individuals in the parking lot.
An unidentified man was shot multiple times and succumbed to his injuries at the location.
Police also said 29-year-old Zachery Bracey was shot in the left leg and hip and a 19-year-old man was shot in the left leg. Both individuals were transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center and have non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect’s vehicle, a black GMC Sierra, has been located and recovered near Metairie Road and towed to a crime lab.
Police say suspects Dmarriel Cousins and Dvonte Nichols have since been arrested and charged with capital murder. Nichols was also charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Police say Martize Davis and an unknown shooter are still at large and are armed and dangerous.
Needless to say, almost every person named in this story is known to Jackson police:
* Dmarriel Cousins (Charged with capital murder): Arrested in August 2021 for possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute with a firearm, and possession of cocaine with intent to disribute with a firearm. He was never indicted for the charges.
* Dvonte Nichols (Charged with capital murder): Indicted for armed carjacking with his brother in 2015. Case was remanded to file in 2019.
* Zachary Bracey (Shot in leg): Pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in 2015. Circuit Judge Jeff Weill sentenced him to serve 20 years in prison but suspended 12 years of the sentence.
Kingfish note: Heck, lock them all up. Just because.

Well ... for years, many of us have been trying to tell folks to
NEVER to stop in Jackson.
(Especially at gas stations).
I hate lives were lost once again ... but we did try to warn people.
Maybe all of those new judges, prosecutors and public defenders will help 😂😂😂😂😂 NOT!!!
dollar to a donut that the Hon Mr. Nichols who's case was remanded to the file, was remanded during Justice Dickenson's time serving as an additional judge to 'clean up the backlog' of cases in Hinds County.
Of all the people to clean up a criminal backlog, he wasn't the one; but he did a great job. Remanded everything because they were old cases. Solved the problem! And he got paid, without having to add any footnotes.
What number is this murder now in Jackson?
Has Lubumba ever had a year where the homicides weren’t at historic highs? Right, just because?
Hard to believe the damage he’s done in so many areas
Sounds like 3 vs 3 gun fight. Recent news headline, approx: "Being poor doesn't make us criminals." 99% of Jackson murders and shootings are Black on Black in West and South Jackson. Why shouldn't road block searches be where the shootings occur?
Jackson's method of clearing the court docket - remand to file. Works every time.
A friend is currently a patient at UMMC hospital. Nurses told her that 7 gunshot victims came through ER last night (Saturday), and early Sunday morning. But media and the public will never hear about that.

Hahaha. Errtime. Trust
Just to be clear after reading some of these insensitive comments: the victim, Jackie Davis, Jr. was unarmed and 5 men conspired to rob him. He had just cashed his check, bought his very pregnant wife something to eat and was headed home to eat and prepare to have their child the next day. Not everyone is a thug and there is a reason the article says “almost” all of them were known by JPD. The victim was a wonderful man and father with family in the department. Whomever wrote “3 on 3” had that completely wrong; it was 5 on 1 and purely based on jealousy/greed. He never did get to meet the baby and also had a 2yo and 1yo with his wife.
“We” live in Jackson and the man needed gas.
He was an activist who spoke out often and publicly in his music and online about how disappointed he had become in his city and the high level of violence and esp black on black on violence.
Look him up.

Wonderful man husband and father.
Wonderful person and a tragic loss to several communities.
Not just “sucks lives were lost but he was asking for it by daring to go to a gas station to purchase gas. “
When do we start holding people accountable? The businesses not providing security safety or lighting as is their duty?
The people not monitoring parolees at least bare minimum enough to make sure they aren’t armed?
His life was the ONLY one lost that day and he was the only one whose name isn’t listed.
He just wanted to come home to his family.
He loved Jackson and wanted to see a change.
He wanted to meet his daughter who was born the next day.
SAY HIS NAME. Jackie Davis Jr. Countyboiclyr as an activist and musician on social platforms.
A life was lost and it is not an “oh well he should have known gas stations are unsafe where he lives.”
The article doesn’t list his name or accurately describe the incident because it came quickly after before the surveillance footage had been pulled or he had been identified. Look up the ensuing news stories.
Look up this wonderful soul who was taken though he tried to defend himself against being robbed.
Pray for his family and let’s ask ourselves WHEN DOES IT STOP. When do the robberies and murders and ignorant victim-blaming STOP?!?
