The Harrison County grand jury cleared the Biloxi Police Department in a May 3, 2021 shootout that left a suspect and a baby dead. The Mississippi Department of Public Safety press release states:
On May 3, 2021, Eric Derell Smith shot and killed Christin Parker, 32, and Brandon Parker, 26, near Baker, Louisiana. Smith kidnapped La’Mello Parker, 3-months, who was the son of both Smith and Parker, from the Parker residence and fled in a blue Nissan Altima. After Smith was spotted, a pursuit began on Interstate 10 heading towards Mississippi. Once Smith entered Mississippi, the Mississippi Highway Patrol and law enforcement officers from other agencies began pursuing him.Black Lives Matter protested the shooting of Smith even though he fired on the police several times. WLOX story. The grand jury report (posted below) sheds more light on what took place that horrible day.
At one point during the pursuit, Smith stopped and exited his vehicle holding La’Mello to his chest. He discharged his weapon at the pursuing officers. The officers did not return fire at this point, and Smith returned to his vehicle, continuing to flee along Interstate 10. Smith’s vehicle was ultimately stopped in Harrison County, Mississippi. It was at this point that Smith lowered his window and again discharged his weapon from the vehicle. With a fellow officer a short distance from Smith’s vehicle, Mississippi Highway Patrol Troopers and other law enforcement officers took action to stop the immediate threat to life created by Smith. The senseless actions of EricSmith ultimately resulted in La’Mello’s death when he was struck by a bullet during the exchange.
“It was clear from Smith’s violent and reckless actions that he had absolutely no regard for the lives of others,” said Mississippi Department of Public Safety Commissioner Sean Tindell. “Although all of the agencies involved took several steps to prevent this tragic outcome, La’Mello Parker’s life was needlessly taken as a direct result of the violent actions of his father, Eric Smith.”
Immediately after this critical incident occurred, the City of Biloxi Police Department conducted an independent investigation into the actions of the Mississippi Highway Patrol and other responding agencies. On April 19, 2022, a partial grand jury report was made public, whereby a Harrison County Grand Jury determined there to be no criminal action on the part of any law enforcement officers.
“While we are pleased with the report of the Harrison County Grand Jury in this incident, the tragic loss of La’Mello Parker’s life was unnecessary,” said Director of the Mississippi Highway Patrol Colonel Randy Ginn. “On that day, State Troopers and other law enforcement officers went to extraordinary lengths in their attempts to resolve this incident in a peaceful manner.
Smith sped down I-10 east in Hancock County with police in close pursuit. Spikes were deployed and "deflated" two tires. Smith got out of his vehicle in the middle of the interstate while holding the baby against his chest in true Hamas style as he shot at the police officers behind his vehicle. Dashcam videos recorded the shootout at this stop. Smith got back in his vehicle and fled albeit at a lower speed.
Attempts were made to contact Smith on his cellphone but he would not answer. A deputy forced him into the grass but the deputy got stuck in the mud and exited his vehicle. Smith fired again at the deputy and other officers, striking a police vehicle. The police returned fire, killing Smith and little La'Mello Parker. The entire shootout was recorded on video.

Your move BLM
As they should.
Thank you for making a decision based on fact, rather than emotion.
Quite sad, that such is becoming increasingly rare.
In order to save the baby, they needed to kill it.
What exactly was the hurry to resolve this situation? He was in a disabled car, and was a danger only to police. He wasn't going anywhere, he wasn't taking additional hostages. Set a perimeter around him, and wait. Let him figure out the shit he's in, and then reach out.
But no, gotta play cowboy.
Any response to this report from the $6 million BLM house in Southern California????
BLM is the MOST racist propaganda machine in the history of the world. All they care about is money.
If they truly cared about black people they would do something about the black on black murders that happen everyday throughout the world.
11:37 : They spent all the stolen money. Nothing left to pay the blue haired fatties .....
Note to the record: Pitt favors dead cops.
I'm sorry, did any cops die? Love your lack of nuance.
The coast has to have overwhelming law enforcement- gambling, prostitution, drugs etc would run the coast like it did in the 50’s.
Bad things happen when criminals do criminal stuff.
The good news is the homeboy won't be a repeat offender.
Pitt i dont think the officers felt like getting shot because, according to you, only they were in danger.
Next time maybe you should show up and give your expert advice.
ACC sucks. SEC is the real conference.
Either way BLM would’ve complained. Maybe the guy shouldn’t have went on a killing spree and taken the child hostage?
"I'm sorry, did any cops die? Love your lack of nuance." The fact no cops died wasn't from Smith's lack of trying. You poor thing, getting your world view from Hollywood leaves you destitute of the way the real world works. Bless your heart, bless your heart. What a pity.
According to the Grand Jury's report, the chase started in Slidell. Smith first shot at pursuing officers at the 10 mile marker, and finally forced off the road at the 40th mile marker.
It wasn't until the guy rolled his window down and shot at a deputy that the officers returned fire. I'd say they were patient enough.
This should have never gone to the Grand Jury, except to CYA from BLM.
11:55, I think BLM is probably more bigoted than racist. Bigots hate the other race; racists thinks their race is superior. For "racist propaganda machine," see the Nazis.
BLM is a scam.
