Jackson Public Works Deputy Director Carla Dazet resigned and left her position last week. City Engineer Dr. Charles Williams recently announced his retirement as well.
They are running off what few competent people remain.

Who wants to work for an absolute fool?
Carla was great. Hate that she is leaving.
She will be missed. Was upset when she left PW for water department.
Dang.
Only to end up as the new city clerk ? Or maybe personal assistant to KWJ over at Hinds ? Sorry folks but she also knows the part wasn't ordered and could name drop IF she gave a flip about Jackson. She making 6 figures as well ? Getting a teir 4 ?
All part of the plan.
If you're not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. She is not going to rat out anyone or she would never be able to work in the Metro area again.
The rats are jumping ship. Federal investigation taking place? Grand jury?
Damn. Basic services in Jackson may collapse completely if this trend continues. Right now they are barely limping along - sometimes.
Chowke will probably replace them with incompetent fools whose only qualification is their skin color and willingness to bow down to him.
Lots of poor and elderly people will suffer as a result. Not everyone has the resources to "get out"...
Textbook impact from maniacal micro-management. Lumumba will never be able to replace the institutional knowledge lost. Mayor Greenhorn doesn't possess the wisdom to tell the difference between dead wood and live healthy wood. Only the sycophants and bootlickers will stay. They'll all sing from the equity hymnal convinced by their cult leader and his Ridgeland rump that the team now remaining is the cream of the crop.
I am getting really tired of pretending that these charlatans aren’t simply incompetent dipsticks who only got to where they are through corruption and racism.
I'll take 128,000 for a couple years. Pretty sure I can find a plumber/engineer to tell me when and how to order parts in a safe timeframe.
you say that like the city ever had competent public works people to begin with? the CoJ public works has been a failure for the past 30 years
>>> Lumumba will never be able to replace the institutional knowledge lost.<<<
What if that's exactly the plan?
Two city department heads gone. Upward mobility for the incompetent.
Thanks to Charles Williams and Carla Dazet for responding lightening fast to repair my broken water meter last year.
If we could recall our punk mayor, I believe they'd both stay to help Jackson.
People who work their asses off get tired of being labeled incompetent and criticized because they took a job under sorry ass leadership. When a department is vastly understaffed and starved of the necessary resources to meet expanding needs it makes the workers and managers look bad. Who needs that? Take a job making less but minus the aggravation. They will land on their feet.
Today my trash was pick up the same day, the same way WM.
1:32 : Nope. It will be a a family member who once fixed their broken pipes. Most Jackson/Hinds jobs are filled with political favors or lazy kinfolk. It's all public record. Part of the reason so many are leaving.
12:12 - you need to understand more about the division of responsibilities and authorities before you let your fingers do the walking, across the keyboard that is.
The operation of the treatment plants, the distribution and collection of water/sewer, etc all resided within the Dept of Public Works.
So the little matter of the electrical panel you refer to had nothing to do with her, her responsibilities, or her authorities. And the failure to have done so, the lies that were provided by the Mayor and not called to truth by others, were not within her area of knowledge or responsibility. Place the blame appropriately - there is plenty within the operation of the City of Jackson to go around, so don't start putting additional blame on others where it doesn't belong.
The city can do far worse than Charles Williams and Carla Dazet. And they will do worse. These two resignations are a big blow for the city. They will replace Charles and Carla with someone far worse.
However, let's not act like Charles and Carla were highly competent. Their departments had plenty of issues and they did little to solve them. Some of that was their fault and some of that was not their fault. They were average employees, and neither earned the salaries given in my opinion.
Both are solid people, both are solid employees, but neither had any business being in such a high position if the city was operated in a competent manner.
How close is Jackson to getting its own version of Snake Plissken?
They say Fleas will jump off of a dying dog. I believe it.
Rukiah is probably looking for something to do, especially if there aren't any consequences for doing nothing or screwing up what little you do.
2:43 : Relax...IDGAF about the city of Jackson anyway. I am pure trolling but do know a great deal about UNQUALIFIED HIGH PAID city employees. Matters very little at this point don't yah think ?
Carla was actually one of the good ones who gave a shit about making things right. I know she went through hell trying to clean up that department. Congrats to her and her new found freedom. She did a really great job.
Like someone said last week, both Williams and Dazet may only have been 6 or 7 "average" leaders, but they had to manage a bunch of lazy 2s and 3s who would make anyone's life difficult. These trifling city employees (that are in every city department) resist any attempts at making them productive and accountable, knowing that as long-time civil service protected employees (and probably union members) it would take an act of God to fire all of them.
At 12:22pm....you gotta be kidding! When the rats are facing jail time, they rat out anyone! You think she's worried about "working in the Metro area" ever again? Sheesh.
Didn't the mayor hire several consultants - most notably the grifter Marshand Crisler - to develop an organizational structure for the Public Works Department? Surely their report would have included a succession plan for replacing managers in case they left. Or do I expect too much as a city resident? Silly me.
@7:32 Jackson had plenty of studies done. They love consultants. Wasted money if you don’t execute the plan.
I know some don't like Jordan Hillman, but I'm highly impressed with her as City Planner and very afraid she may be next. She turned Rankin Co around and has a lot of good things in the works. IM SHOCKED ANTAR BROUGHT HER ON BOARD. Even goes out on some early mornings raids (I'm talking 2 AM). She is a big time go getter and a 3% er. Stay tuned!
... but I'm highly impressed with her ...
BUT who are you and why should we value your opinion of Hillman?
Same person who majorly screwed over the neighborhood behind the M-Bar on the outdoor 'amphitheater'.
IF she is as smart as you think 4:32 AM (I've met her and I don't share that opinion), she should leave now before this ship sinks any further and tarnishes her.
Jordan Hillman is just another kool-aid drinking Lumumba apparatchik enamored with herself and high on control. She didn't turn Rankin county around.
Why is the City Planner going out on early morning (2AM) raids? Is she an LEO? Shades of Frank Melton.
@4:32 AM, give specifics why you think Hillman is doing good job. She went out on JPD raids? So what?
