Ag Commish Andy Gipson issued the following statement.
Commissioner
of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson
encourages those celebrating the holiday season to make this year a
“Genuine Mississippi” Christmas by purchasing a Mississippi grown
Christmas tree.
The
Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce has made it easy for
shoppers to find the perfect Mississippi Christmas tree this holiday
season at MSChristmasTrees.com.
Here you can locate one of the state’s 32
Christmas tree farms; learn about the types of Christmas trees grown in
the state; and how to care for a fresh tree in order to make it last
throughout the holiday season.
“Visiting
one of Mississippi’s Christmas tree farms is an experience the whole
family will enjoy,” said Commissioner Gipson. “It is a great way
to support Mississippi farmers, as well as the local and state
economies.”
Many
farms will open for the holiday season on Thanksgiving Day or
throughout the weekend. Some farms offer pre-tagging services for
families
interested in reserving a tree to pick up at a later date. Contact
information and social media links for each farm are included on the
MSChristmasTrees.com
website.
The holiday season is the perfect time to support other local Mississippi businesses through the Genuine MS® program for products Grown, Raised, Crafted and Made in Mississippi. Visit GenuineMS.com or stop by the Genuine MS® Store located inside the Mississippi Farmers Market for great gift ideas. The store is open Thursdays and Fridays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Darn, I followed Chowke's "support China" by purchasing a tree from the Chicoms. I mean if Chowke can donate our masks to the Chicoms, I can certainly purchase a tree from them, right?
I prefer to purchase from a state who won’t waste my money on retired quarterbacks and good ole boy contracts. If you give money to the state of Mississippi, you are only enabling their bad behavior.
Had a fake one for over 10 years now. Still lights up and is home for several of my cats.
Leave the trees alone ! :)
Do you get a Cowboy Hat with every Mississippi Christmas Tree purchase? Yeehah!!
an old prospector
Has Andy Gipson ever set foot on a farm?
Bought a tree today….slim Pickens it seems.
If you enjoy live trees go tomorrow and get one.
If I catch you stealing my pecans, shooting my cow or cutting my trees, I will shoot your ass! I'm a farmer...and leave my daughter out of this.
The obvious mentality of this man is beginning to worry me. Help me remember who put him in this job in the first place...
Andy may wear a cowboy hat, but shake his hands...they are as soft as a baby's bottom.
