The Mississippi Highway Patrol issued the following statement.
Beginning Wednesday, May 26, 2021, the Mississippi Highway Patrol, in conjunction with the Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Louisiana State Police, will conduct the “Line to Line” traffic safety initiative on Interstate 55.
This high visibility safety initiative will precede the Memorial Day travel period and is designed to keep motorists safe during peak travel times. Troopers in their respective states will be placed statewide on Interstate 55 to reduce the number of crashes, promote seatbelt usage, deter speeding and remove impaired drivers.
“Our goal with “Line to Line” is to raise driving safety awareness as we approach the Memorial Day holiday travel period. We encourage drivers to remember that their actions behind the wheel have consequences, both good and bad, for themselves and others,” said Colonel Randy Ginn, Director of the Mississippi Highway Patrol. “If everyone will simply slow down, buckle up, put down their phone and avoid driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, we can all have a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend.”
The official MHP 2021 Memorial Day enforcement period begins on Friday, May 28th at 12:01 a.m. and will conclude on Monday, May 31st at midnight. During the 2020 enforcement period, MHP investigated 157 crashes including two fatalities.
Safety checkpoints will be established to detect impaired driving and the enforcement of seatbelt laws. Motorists preparing to travel during the enforcement period are urged to include safe driving as part of their travel plans.

Remember these phrases when interacting with law “enforcement”
No I don’t consent to this search!
Do you have a warrant?
Am I being detained?
If I am not being detained then am I free to go?
You aren’t required to roll you window down at a DUI checkpoint.
Place your ID and proof of insurance against the window.
You don’t have to consent to their unconstitutional searches, and they know it.
"Safety Checkpoints" my a$$! Harassing the free travel of citizens in hopes writing a few tickets stinks of a police state.
I walk the line-
Two weeks ago, on a Saturday morning, I was actually shot at, on 55S with either a .40 or .45, by a black Dodge Challenger/Charger with a "Bully on Board" sticker in the back left part of the rear windshield. About a minute later, near the Adkins Blvd crossing near C.O.L., I saw Vance himself on patrol. No need to say what the driver looked like (check that new Ford ad with the blue mustang). Maybe Mason needed to send a Lagos-Monrovia Special Agent out on one last extra-judicial mission before he croaked and had W-F clean up that moustache.
He forgot to mention that "blinker fluid" is now widely available for purchase.
They'll write a bunch of angry tickets. They do hate to work and this is forced on them.
AMEN ...first commenter 0850.
Amen.
This is a money grab , show of force, and harassment only.
"Safety Check"? yeah, right.
Pro Tip: If you drive in the left lane you can go as fast as you want and they can't give you a ticket. It's State Law.
0850 is a liar and would be cry'n like a little bitch try go up against MHP....
Rather than patrol north and south of Jacktown, the MHP ought to send all those troopers into the city and let them patrol from Byram to Ridgeland. They would have a fuckin' heyday!!!
How in the heck can you stop for a traffic check on I55? This would create more danger!
They could post up between Canton and Jackson as the constituents commute between the two sister cities. Those who's destination is either Jackson or Canton drive 100mph+ regularly. I see at least one person heading either direction with no stop in Madison County flying recklessly. No MHP in site.
With this cannon on my hip I don't take no lip. By the way boy it ain't no toy.
@10:20
I don’t drink and drive so what would I cry about? The potential payday I could get from suing the shit out of the MHP for violating my constitutional civil rights?
No. They will just wave me through like they always do because there are so many ignorant fish like you to catch.
Don’t drink and drive.
No donut will be safe!!
Want to avoid checkpoints? Stay the hell out of South Texas. Recently in Harlingen on business and the Federales are everywhere chasing those Biden loving invaders from south of the border. Checkpoint on 77 around Sarita was a real eye opener.
Revenue enhancement
No donuts were injured during the typing of that press release.
@10:32 - Several years ago I went through a traffic stop on I-55 South down near McComb. There was a large sign on the side of the highway announcing a traffic stop 2 miles ahead. There was an exit from the highway between the sign and the anticipated traffic stop location, and everyone concerned about the traffic stop exited the highway there before they reached the designated location. Well, guess who was waiting around the curve out of sight on the exit road? MHP, dogs, troopers, etc. pulling over people who attempted to evade the stop. LOL. Heard they bagged bankers, preachers, truckers, doctors, lawyers, moms and pops and a whole lot of others. Hehehehe.
Man y’all jump to conclusions on here like white on rice. Nobody said a damn thing about a safety checkpoint or a dui checkpoint.
Where did you Defund the LEOs live?

You definitely trying to get someone a ticket this weekend, LMAO!!!!!
The left lane is specifically for passing, stay your butt in that right lane. Most troopers will let you slide if you are 5mph above the limit. But anything more than that, you are on your own.

You obviously believe in a police state if it has the (perceived) effect of increasing your safety. I'd be willing to bet the number of traffic tickets and unreasonable/unnecessary searches far outweigh the number of impaired drivers apprehended.
But hey, screw any personal freedom if it makes you feel the good government is watching out for you. Bet you are a huge fan of mandatory vaccinations and masks too.
10:18 is just kidding. If not, he’s a dumbass. I swear some people will believe anything they read. Just stop.
@1:45
10:20 AM here
I am also 8:50 AM
And I was responding to 10:20 AM
I bet @10:18 pays taxes on both lanes.
Don’t mess with smokie or he’ll throw you in the pokie!
@8:50 AM (tough guy) is likely a "sovereign citizen," who would wet his pants when put in handcuffs for trying out the stupid stuff that he suggests.
" You aren’t required to roll you window down at a DUI checkpoint.

Well Gomer Pyle, it's a tad bit more complicated in our current world.
Perhaps that is a law on some dusty 1932 legal document ... but pulling that stunt in 2021 almost guarantees what would have been a twenty second checkpoint encounter, now may become hours of your worst headache (even if you are sober).
Jeez.
Anyone with a grain of common sense will comply with LEO at a routine DUI "roadblock".
Hell, if one is not driving drunk or stoned . . . why are they worried ?
Try that shit with the Louisiana State Police, they will handcuff, Tazer, then drag your ass until your dead, cover it up for 2 Years and still retire with their Pension.
@3:20
Why would a free citizen fear the exercise of their civil rights?
Do you admit that we aren’t free?
Remember that the police state barely lifts a finger to fight criminal street gang violence and the invasion by illegals.
But they have a hard on for trampling on the rights of law abiding citizens.
Well @3:50 that’s because law abiding citizens have jobs, for the most part don’t shoot back and can pay fines and court costs. Why would they go after street gangs or illegals? They have the federal government providing them with attorneys and expenses. Where’s the money in that?
The app WAZE you can download to your phone allows to share real time information with other users about the location of speed traps as well as road hazards & traffic conditions. Worth its weight in gold. The more users the better.
@8:50
And don't forget:
This some old bull sh** right here!
You only pulled me over because I'm white/black/female!
My taxes pay your salary!
Why do they only do this on holiday weekends and not year round?
