The city of Jackson issued the following statements.
(5/17/2021) The Siwell Road and TV Road wells on the Jackson Maddox Well Water System remain offline. The Department of Public Works crew together with outside contractors are onsite today at the Siwell Road well working to determine what repairs need to be made to bring this well back online first. The Siwell Road well is a larger well that distributes more water into the system.
Based
on the current best case scenario assessment, Friday, May 21 is the
earliest the Siwell Road Well may be back online and fully operational.
Draining of the
well and additional assessments are needed before a more definitive
timeline can be shared.
The
Jackson Maddox Well System serves approximately 16K well water
connections primarily in South Jackson and the City of Byram. As the
system continues to operate
on only four wells, customers, particularly those at higher elevations,
can expect to experience low or no water pressure in the impacted areas
near these wells.
Precautionary Boil Water Advisory & Conservation Notice:
The
precautionary boil water advisory issued on Monday, May 17 as a result
of the TV Road well disruption will be expanded to also include areas
impacted by the
Siwell Road well disruption. These updated details will be sent
separately.
The previously released conservation notice for the entire Jackson Maddox Well Water System remains in place.
(5/18/2021) Due to the recent loss in water pressure, the City of Jackson Water/Sewer Utilities Division has issued a precautionary boil water advisory until further notice for the following area:
· [2200-2299] TV Road; 39209

This advisory does not affect surface water customers.
THIS ADVISORY AFFECTS APPROXIMATELY
2000 CONNECTIONS ON OUR DRINKING WATER SYSTEM.
This is a precautionary advisory.
This
notice does not mean that your water is unsafe, but it does mean that
you must take precaution and boil your water before use. All customers
are advised to boil their drinking water until adequate
pressure is restored to the system. Water should be brought to a
rolling boil for one minute for the following: cooking or baking, making
ice cubes, taking medication, brushing teeth, washing food, mixing baby
formula or food, mixing juices or drinks feeding
pets, washing dishes and all other consumption.
RESIDENTS WILL BE NOTIFIED IMMEDIATELY WHEN THE ADVISORY IS LIFTED. For more information, customers may call 601-960-2723 during business hours or 601-960-1778 (or 601-960-1875) after 4:00 p.m. and on weekends.

The race is on! Lake Caroline and areas around Highway 22 have been under a boil water notice since Sunday. Let's see who responds more quickly - Canton or Jackson. Canton's last "update" was Sunday.
This is too sad for words.
I think I would operate under the assumption the water is S&$t all the time in Jackson.
I feel for the South Jacksonians ( actually all Jacksonians) ... hopefully this will motivate the voters to elect somepne else.
But I doubt that will happen.
@4:47 PM - correct. The default setting in Chowke's progressive Jacktown should be "don't drink the water, ever."
In other news, Tijuana, Mexico IS NOT under a boil water notice.
4:37, CMU fixed the problem on Sunday. I was there. Game over.
No sympathy from me. Why? They'll keep voting for the same people.
Continue to elect liberals/socialists/progressives and expect different results.
There are tons of issues at CMU. Tons. But Sunday was simply a breakage. CMU got it fixed and issued a precautionary boil water notice. I don’t see a huge problem to throw stones at based on Sunday. They were a little slow, and their notification could have been better. But not a bad job.
What do the Jackson City Council, Jackson's plumbing and the Jackson Police Department have in common?
None of them work!
The water in Jackson is a great example of what is wrong with Jackson. There is a problem so they fix it with duct tape and can say they tried our best and the same people can stay elected. How people are content with the lack of true leadership and the lack of wanting actual change is mind boggling to me. Figure out the root of the problem, figure out how to fix it, and fix it or let the people elect someone who will.
And while Rome burns, Nero plays his fiddle.
Where oh where is Baby Chock? Why, he is in Hattiesburg campaigning for the Democratic candidate for Mayor there - along with city consultant Marshan. This is after he was in Goodman campaigning for Marshan's friendgirl's campaign.
Maybe Baby Chock should be in Jackson taking care ohf business here - but that would mean that he was actually earning his salary and deserving his half a dozen protective guards in the entourage
7:10 and 8:43, I didn't say the problem wasn't fixed, I said we are under a boil water notice. We are still under a boil water notice - at least I guess we are. CMU's latest post is from Monday. We'll see Wednesday morning. The race continues.
At least when we see who Chowke is campaigning for other radical progressives are identified. These are people that if elected would also destroy their respective cities.
The post about CMU fixing their water issue has me thinking. Maybe Jackson should hire Rudolf Warnock to take over and lead the charge.
Jackson's financially troubled water system could get worse if Byram builds its own water system, & stops getting its water from Jackson, as WJTV reported.
https://www.wjtv.com/news/byram-eyes-its-own-water-system-after-numerous-malfunctions-by-jackson-pipelines/
I live in the Terry/Byram area and I am not included in the specific affected areas listed above, yet for several days I have had very little to no water pressure. As to those affected re-electing the same people, not all of us can vote in Jacktown elections yet we have to live with their incompetence.
Just read another shit screed from Laddco apologists Nick Judin and Ashton Pittman decrying how Jackson's water woes are all the result of racism, with no mention of how badly managed it has been largely under black leadership for the last 25 years as an equal contributor. I'm over being guilted into thinking it's my fault that Jackson has incompetent leadership, poor financial management, lousy public schools, and failing infrastructure, not when as KF has pointed out recently, they are collecting more revenue than ever.
Two separate wells went down at once? Or was one down anyway and then another failed.
Byram is going to use the old fashioned birth-control method. They will be pulling out.
If Jackson can just hold on until the next hurricane comes through and the fed will contribute, Lamumba can get it fixed, and the people will forget about all of the missing funds.
Byram water customers are probably the only ones paying Jackson for their water. Chowke will soon blame Byram for Jackson's money problems.
" I'm over being guilted into thinking it's my fault "
I honestly feel for ya 9:15.
You are what they call a product of childhood indoctrination.
The fact you felt "guilted" ( whatever that means ) ... is sad fact of many school systems. Primarily public schools.
But you now understand the reality of the left.
Good for you my friend ... you understand the reality of the left's agenda.
