David L. Archie picked up where he left off this morning. The Hinds County District 2 Supervisor called District 3 Supervisor corrupt and a few other adjectives at a press conference this afternoon on the steps of the Hinds County Courthouse.
Mr. Archie immediately started blasting his colleague as he charged Mr. Calhoun was "involved in corruption, nepotism, and power and control." Mr. David L. threw quite a bit of shade at the Board President:
* He said Mr. Calhoun tried to illegally give $60,000 to Hinds County District 2 Election Commissioner Toni Johnson for municipal elections.
* Mr. Calhoun allegedly refuses to hire women for county positions.
* The Board voted to withdraw $2.8 million in state aid road money from District 2. Mr. Archie said the money could not be reallocated to District 3 because it had no county roads while District 1 only had one county road (West County Line Road).
* "It is our understanding Supervisor Calhoun walks around with a big stick since he became President of this Board, threatening employees, calling employees out, saying he has all the power here in Hinds County. Mr. Archie said he told County Administrator Kenny Wayne Jones not to meet privately with Mr. Calhoun until "some of these investigations are over." He said Mr. Calhoun directly "instructs" county department heads.
* Mr. Archie accused the Board President of orchestrating last week's firing of Public Works Director Thelman Boyd because he would not illegally pave a road and parking lot near Metrocenter.
* The retention of Florida-based company The Integrity Group for management of the Covid-19 rental assistance program was questioned. (17:00). He complained the company did not hire a local company to help administer the program.
Mr. Archie ended the presser with a warning to Mr. Calhoun: "He's not going to run around Hinds County, doing what he chooses to do, in terms of spending Hinds County and the taxpayers' money."

Did this baffoon, mentally unstable idiot actually beat McQuirter? I wish we hade election qualifications as we did in 1790.
This Frankenstein was created by Peggy Calhoun and Robert Graham despite the fact that they hate each other. Peggy hated that McQuirter rose to prominence and Graham smelled opportunity. They took down a good man (McQuirter) and cast their lot with this nut. Serves Hinds County and its voters right.
David Archie is one of the biggest fools in Hinds County and the people who elected him over McCoirter. are to blame! Money Powell
Same Supreme Court that ruled against I65 ruled in support of David L Archie over Mcquirter
Thanks Waller voters! Great job!!!
I don’t know either supervisor. Many people agree corruption reigns in Hinds County. But, no one should get away with baseless accusations. So.... What did Archie say that is clearly wrong?
The traveling Austin businessman was more right than he knew.
It was bound to happen sooner or later. The three stooges, Graham, Archie, and Calhoun are either crooked as a corkscrew or crazy as shit-house rats. They were bound to turn on each other and the feds should keep their ears
open for some juicy info.
Damn. I did not know that Congressman Bennie was responsible, or controlled, state aid (state dollars) money.
Archie wants Bennie to get involved because money is going from Supv District 2 ' which is in Bennie's district to other districts - either 3, or 4, or 5, or parts of 1 -- all of which are also in Bennie's district.
But in his press conference, and in the meeting - Archie claims he is going running to Bennie to get it fixed.
Guess David knows who controls him - cause he has to use his name as God that all are supposed to bow down to. Lots of good local politics explained here.
Far be ot for me to agree with David Archie - and for the majority of his rant here I don't agree with him. (Calhoun moving money from one district to another - no different than the supes have been doing for years, generally led by his comrade in arms Lt Graham.)
But his opening comments about the corrupt movements by Election Commissioner Toni Johnson are spot on. She thinks the pot of gold deposited in the EC chambers is hers to use as she sees fit - including campaigning across the state with her radical new Mayor, Baby Chocke.
Those monies are not hers to shake out of her private piggy bank to support her favs, or those favs that someone "on high" directs her to support. Archie is correct on this one point although it seems to have little to do with his pissing match with Calhoun.
717, yes. You are correct. But in both cases, the Supremes ruled on the law as it is written.
The problem with the Archie case was not with the Supremes, but with the idiot judge from Copiah County that doesn't understand the law. Or his role as a judge. Just as he didn't up north in Madison County.
But the Supremes had to follow a stupid law that includes the election commissioners as part of the court- and an inept attorney (Begley) that did not poll them.
At least many of the Supremes noted that the facts should lead to a different answer regarding
Archie if the law wasn't so screwed up. Same Justices that recognized what the law said about initiatives.
Judges gotta follow the law. Even when the law is poorly written.
I'm 65 years old...lived my first 42 years in Jackson, then moved to Ridgeland. Wife and I are now contemplating a move to northern Arizona, if so I will most certainly stay tuned to Kingfish because we all have to admit the overflow of antic's that Jackson provides is beyond entertaining!
Hey 7:28, get your facts right. Bill Waller Jr. wasn't on the
Supreme Court when the Archie case was heard.
John in Brandon, I believe he is referring to the primary election McQuirter lost to Archie. Many Republicans or independents who would have otherwise voted in the Democrat primary for McQuirter instead chose to vote for Waller for governor in the Republican primary.
Credell , you better look out!!! Archie will throw all of your clothes out by the street!!!
Hey 'John in Brandon'. Its obvious the reference to Waller voters went COMPLETELY over your head.
7:12, spot on as usual. Worked with him at VA. He speaks the truth.
Today's exercise in reductive nonsense:
Archie from video: "It takes someone like myself, who's, who, who's not a, as they say, politician. But I see myself as a civil rights activist, as a community activist, and now a political activist. So I pay close attention to these matters that take place."
My question is where was all these McQuirter supporters when McQuirter was fighting the Bennie Thompson/David Archie/Robert Graham and Lamar Pickard!
