The city of Jackson issued the following statement.
Due to the extreme cold weather and low temperatures, the City of Jackson Water Treatment Plants are experiencing an inability to maintain pressure in the distribution system. Until adequate system pressure is restored some areas may experience low to no water pressure. The City of Jackson Water/Sewer Utilities Division has issued CITY-WIDE precautionary boil water advisory until further notice for the following area:
• ALL SURFACE WATER CONNECTIONS
THIS NOTICE DOES NOT INCLUDE WELL WATER CONNECTIONS
THIS ADVISORY AFFECTS APPROXIMATELY 43,000 CONNECTIONS ON OUR DRINKING WATER SYSTEM.
This is a precautionary advisory. This notice does not mean that your water is unsafe, but it does mean that you must take precaution and boil your water before use. All customers are advised to boil their drinking water until adequate pressure is restored to the system. Water should be brought to a rolling boil for one minute for the following: cooking or baking, making ice cubes, taking medication, brushing teeth, washing food, mixing baby formula or food, mixing juices or drinks feeding pets, washing dishes and all other consumption.
RESIDENTS WILL BE NOTIFIED IMMEDIATELY WHEN THE ADVISORY IS LIFTED. For more information, customers may call 601-960-2723 during business hours or 601-960-1778 (or 601-960-1875) after 4:00 p.m. and on weekends.

The default setting in Jackson should be Boil The Water. At times when it's actually not necessary to boil the water, the city issues a "No Boil" notice.
Boil for one minute ,hell I wouldn't drink the water if it was boiled for a year.
Virgi has it Belhavcen. She knows how. She can do
Third world problems.
Along with Covid, illegal guns, gun shows, conflicts, and upticks, boil water notices are another cause of violence in Jackson.
Isn't "extreme cold weather and low temperatures" one reason and not two, I mean aren't they the same thing; wouldn't think you could have extreme cold weather and hot temperatures....
Low pressure is not a result of low temperature, that's just a way of saying the pipes are broke or the equipment is frozen up.
At least Jackson has some water, Greenville had non for a couple of days.....they had to truck water to the hospital
Low pressure is a result of low temperatures, 2:48. The low temperatures cause the surface water coming from the resivoir and the Pearl to reduce input and thruput at the treatment plants. Thereby reducing the amount of water that can be put into the system. Thus, low pressure
Any system in Mississippi that is dependent on surface water will face this problem, as Mississippi plants are not designed for this continued low temps. Jackson being what it is, this only affects 60% of its households - most of those in the southwest section get their water from deep water wells.
You OK, 2:32? Can we getchu some water?
@ 2:39 PM, you forgot signs.
Paint me shocked, not really
Kingfish, you practice some unusual censorship. Hard to figure out your triggers. Hopefully this gets through.
People living in Jackson should invest in a Big Berkey water filter. It can save your family when you need clean water. No electricity required. Just uses gravity to purify just about any water.

Even on a hot day,
I will buy safe water before I get within 100 miles of Jackson. mis'sippi.
Mentioning Alex Jones probably had something to do with it.
