The Mississippi Highway Patrol issued the following statement.
Wrong way driver causes fatal crash in Rankin County.
At approximately 11:38 p.m., Mississippi Highway Patrol troopers
were advised of a 2-vehicle crash on MS25 north of Holly Bush Rd.
Preliminary reports indicate that a 2004 Toyota Sequoia, driven by
Kyle T. Dixon 54, of Jackson MS, was traveling southbound in the
northbound lanes of MS25, when it collided with a northbound 2008
Chrysler PT Cruiser.
3 occupants of the Chrysler PT Cruiser, identified as Tamaria
Shumake 32 (driver), Ambrosia Isaac 8 (female) and Zylan Shumake 5
(male) all of Carthage MS, died as a result of injuries sustained in the
crash. 2 other occupants in the Chrysler were transported
to UMMC with serious injuries. They were all wearing their seatbelts at
the time of the crash.
Mr. Dixon, the driver of the Toyota Sequoia was transported to
River Oaks Hospital with non life threatening injuries. He was not
wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
This crash is currently under investigation and more information will be released pending the outcome.

Damn, not wearing a seatbelt. Wonder what his Insurance status is. At least this tragedy occurred in Rankin County. In Hinds he'd be looking at Non-Adjudication with Probation at best.
Holly Bush Road is already dangerous without being a drunk driver. He either lived in the area or had a death wish to take that route while intoxicated.
How can this man be able to take a mugshot after a head on wreck that killed and maimed numerous others while not wearing a seatbelt. He does not look very injured in this mugshot.
Did they check for Mad Dog 2020?
...lives 2 blocks away from Eudora Welty's house, and was born in Brooklyn, New York. Maybe someone can chime in with this guy's story? You can bet there's a VERY interesting story, here.
In the meantime, I'm going to be thankful I sold my Belhaven properties, decades back, and didn't buy any more.
Whatever his insurance status is, he most likely doesn't have enough. Not too many people would when it comes to killing 3 other folks. What a tragedy!!!
How can you be allegedly drunk? he was fine enough to go to jail and take his mugshot, I'm sure they made him blow at some point before. Prayers for the family involved.
@9:39 i get its the cool thing to do one the internet to troll but have some damn decency. Three people including two children are dead. As my college football coach you say to me "what **** is wrong with you today?"
Mr. Bailey - You don't seem at all knowledgeable of the statutes. He's been charged with DUI. A charge doesn't equal a conviction. You don't 'blow' when a death is involved. That requires the mandatory blood analysis which was no doubt acquired. His case has to be adjudicated (which will no doubt result in conviction). He won't have enough insurance but will not need auto insurance for many years to come.
9:31, hope to improve your reading comprehensive skills.
The accident occured on Highway 25, two miles NORTH OF Holly Bush Road
So the conditions of Holly Bush had nothing to do with this accident, or with this post.
No blessings in Rankin. AMF.
@10:40 you must be a lawyer. Don’t talk to me like a child. I know the law. I’m just saying you’re drunk or you’re not. This post leads you to believe he was, and now 3 people are dead.
If you DRINK DON’T DRIVE! You have Choices but don’t involve innocent people in your wreck less criminal behavior! Whether it is drugs or alcohol follow the directions and be Respectful of the law!
@12:02pm - Apparently you don’t know the law. And didn’t you know everyone on this board is a lawyer? Besides you of course.
@2:13 you were probably chasing after the police car trying to hand him your business card...good luck getting paid.
12:02 - No. You do NOT know the law if you think a 'blow test' is used when a death is involved and if you think a charge equals a conviction. Brush up, then come back. Later...
Prolly headed from the Hill
Headlights off?
If he was headed the wrong way on Holly Bluff Road, he could not have been on Highway 25. Basic reality would verify that.
Damn, for the past year or so I thought everyone on this site was a Doctor.
@9:51
you don’t have to be particularly bright to be a doctor or lawyer. you merely have to be able to memorize and recall. Keep in mind that there are more billionaire software engineers than billionaire doctors and lawyers.
In response to Matt Bailey, 2/26/21, 10:40am. In my humble and sometimes wrong opinion, the use of the word "(alleged)" in the header for this item is a commonly used attempt by our humble scribe Kingfish. The media in general have used this term for years to avoid being accused of making a "conclusion of fact" that the party of interest was DRUNK for sure. Kingfish isn't in a position to have ascertained that as a fact, nor would a television reporter on the scene.
To put it another way, your alleged knowledge of when someone is KNOWN to be intoxicated or just suspected of the same condition...is lacking.
