Thank you Bobbie Ware for standing up for physicians and pushing back on Dr. Dobbs that has no clue about how to treat a patient nor does he understand economics of medicine. She pushed back to inform him Baptist will not be restricting surgeries and we can handle the load. It's a farce and physicians have been blacklisted from media. I know my patients needing hips and knees will not suffer due to any ban.

Y’all, it’s going to be okay. I just heard Socrates is in the game and is going to save us all!

Somebody summarize it, I don't have an hour to waste. I assume he's still against wearing masks because of a lack of they protect the wearer when the reality is they are supposed to protect those who are around an infected person who may not know they are contagious.

I will point out that right now Mississippi has the 3rd highest death rate in the nation, behind only New Jersey and Arizona. We are also seventh in the new infection rate. Obviously we need to do something different. An enforceable ban on gatherings of more than 20 people, closing bars and nightclubs, and a mandatory mask requirement for anyone out in public would be a good start.

9:15 We probably had the highest death rate before COVID. Take a look at the percentage of Mississippians that die every year from heart disease, hypertension, and diabetes. We are No. 1!

Not saying COVID shouldn't be taken serious, but we were the sickest state before COVID, so it stands to reason that we will be one of the sickest states with COVID. We had a shitty health status before and we still do.

I say we go wide open and let nature run its course.
All herds need to be thinned from time to time.

Let me sum up Osterholm.

The fools will always look for a way to say the rules don't apply to them, from seat belts to DUI laws to public health. Or say, wearing a mask in the Capitol, ahem.

Here's Osterholm: "Osterholm said that his position was not that masks shouldn’t be worn — he wears one in public, himself — but that there is limited data on how effective DIY cloth masks are at stopping small particles, either from passing through or being forced out the sides of the mask. Without that information, he said, physical distancing and isolation remain the most important tools in stopping the spread of the coronavirus."

"It has been reported that I am against wearing cloth masks in public, and that's not true."

IOTW, he early on adopted the "insider who's an outsider" contrarian stance (as he delights "in breaking eggs") on masks, and adopted the bad side of the Perfect is the Enemy of the Good strategy.

And he couches it in terms of "Well, I didn't SAY don't wear masks... " and then deflects by correctly stating social distancing is more important (if it's done WITH MASKS even HE SAYS).

But the TP Sheep and those who isolate at the beach house are worried about revenue, so they sell it as "No Masks, No Shutdowns, No Change, Pack the Bars, Pack the Schools, (cuz I Don't Have a Set and Care Only About Myself)."

It's a win win for the ignorant.

Anything less than Level A (you see Eric T tweeting simpleton memes like that) is not 100%, so it's not worthy reducing risk by 50%.

Or, N95 are the "bare minimum" in clinical settings, and there could be shortages, so you simpletons (he criticized his own OBGYN daughter for "only" having a surgical mask in a delivery room), should not deplete them, and anything else does not have a peer reviewed gold standard study, so don't try. (Even with 172 studies indicating masks help greatly) But when you deal with large numbers, even a small percent of positive effect help has enormous impact. That is always left out, deliberately.

Dr. Osterholm wears a mask.

This is yet again propaganda, portrayed as "independent thinking." Yet, it costs lives. But it "sells" even as it kills. Makes me sick to think what's coming. Well, it's already here, but Cletus can't figger it out.

But the funniest thing with Osterholm is, he's "shocked." "Why is there so much backlash?" Well, Mr. Flat Earth Contrarian. That's how science works. You can spread only so much bull for so long before you get called out. And, he's done that for many years. Loves the attention, good or bad. He's a pretzel trying to contort himself to the get out of the corner he's painted himself into on masks, but it's been years coming. He never surprises me.

Hoax plandemic chicken little's are never going to listen to the opposing facts. This is their latest religion, just like climate change. You can't see any tangible effects beyond the economic damage they create.

But they have the media, an army of experts in lockstep consensus, and they have their faith that the computer models are accurate.

Like all zealots you can't argue with them. They are true believers. So put on your face diaper and BE AFRAID!

A few good points he makes.

1) We are not seeing the increase in cases because of increased testing. We are 27th in the world for per capita testing and we are seeing increasing positive rates in tests.
2) The current rise in number of cases is primarily in younger age groups hence the lower death rates. As the younger crowd passes this back to those more at risk, the death rate will go back up. He says Father’s Day will likely contribute to this.
3) He thinks we should close bars to slow the spread in the younger folks and provide financial assistance to bars even though some will view that as socialism.
4) He says we need multiple plans based on the shifting nature of this. As the virus spreads through different segments of the population, we will require different strategies to slow the spread. Coming up with a single plan now for reopening schools doesn’t make sense because we won’t be in the same situation once it’s time to reopen.
5) He thinks if we dont get a vaccine, we will still reach herd immunity but that will mean around 160 million Americans will get the virus.
6) he thinks that making this virus a political issue has hurt us greatly when comparing us to other countries.
7) we are paying the price for reopening Willy nilly.

10:30 I wasn't clear. Those death and infection rates are just for COVID. They don't include deaths for other things like heart attacks, car crashes, or just old age.

11:24, You are actively making people dumber by sharing your bs and that makes you a true Mississippian. If you aren’t able to understand the science, that only reflects on your own intelligence and speaks to the great challenge we have in fighting stupidity in this state and country.

I did the quarantine as instructed.
Worked from home, grocery deliveries and not one person in my home for 3 months.

Yet I watched as others had “just a few friends and family” over for Easter, Memorial Day, Mother and Fathers Day.
They went to the beach, or the lake or snuck a fishing trip in with a friend or two while I was home.

If everyone had followed the rules we might not be here.
But I have no plans to quarantine again while half the state enjoys life with no restrictions.

And unless you shut down Walmart and churches, y’all need to stop talking about closing bars.
All or nothing.

And you people who couldn’t do it right the first time are to blame because people like me aren’t taking one for the team again, now that y’all are suddenly concerned.

@9:15. Maybe you abd I are reading two different sites regarding Mississippi having the 3rd highest death rate in the nation.

5:19 Yes, we are looking at two different statistics. The one you posted looks at total deaths from the virus since the beginning of the pandemic. The one I was looking at in the Washington Post covers the current death and infection rate using just the past week.

Mississippi's infection rate is rising quickly and we are near the top right now compared to a state like New York that has gotten their rate under control even though they had a lot more deaths in March and April. New York is #1 on your list for total deaths while it is #34 on the list for deaths in the past week. You have to look at what is happening right now to determine mitigation procedures.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
