Should have gotten her. Sugar Daddy and she wouldn’t be in this kind of trouble. Lawd Lawd Lawd!!!

Goodness Kingfish, is that the sexiest pic you could find of her?

I hope she gets a good attorney and doesn't plea guilty. People always plea and make the prosecutors job too easy.

I understand the law and she’s an adult and he’s a minor child of 17, at the time of the crime. How damn vulnerable can a 17-year-old, competitive swimmer be? If this accuser is not handicapped, he was obviously sheltered enough by his parents, that he didn’t know what was really going on. His parents should teach a class on how to keep your kids from learning about all the bad, immoral things in life.

Anonymous said...

What sort of evidence does it take to get an indictment and then to convict?

Anonymous said...

Are we really going to blame the parents of the victim?? 17 is a CHILD. This woman is an ADULT. I wouldn’t have want my child on her team or especially in her elementary school class.

Anonymous said...

@12:01 WOW! Takes a real special individual to go after the parents of the victim. I will pray for you.

Anonymous said...

He had to be handicapped to be a real victim?!?! Are you serious? Oh and let’s blame the parents!

if she did it, she’s a pedofile. no if, ands, but’s, or coconuts.

@1:02
DNA from a rape kit and medical testimony is the only slam dunk. It is unlikely that this case will have either. So all they have is the accuser's testimony. The testimony of a virile and athletic young man who was 1 year younger than the age of majority. Will that be enough to convince a jury? Only time will tell.

If she has a good enough attorney then the prosecution will have to prove without a shadow of a doubt that a rape in fact occured while she was in a position of authority over the accuser, and it happened in Rankin county. A good attorney would exploit any holes in the testimony and ensure that the jury must be certain that the crime took place. It is all about perception and convincing the jury.

It is why prosecutors try so hard to get a plea.

She still shoulda gotta sugar daddy. She woulda had all the money she needed and he coulda popped 2 viagra and satisfied her

Anonymous said...

She should not have done this given her position of trust and authority, but charging her with a crime is a bit much. A seventeen year old competitive male swimmer has been surrounded by beautiful athletic women for years and I doubt he had much innocence to steal.

Anonymous said...

I don’t think anyone is blaming the parents of the accuser, sorry, victim. Read the damn post and use your narrow minds to realize the poster was saying the parents did a hell of job protecting this child from this world’s evils. That is up until the child predator swim coach came along and took advantage of the vulernable kid. Nor, is anyone saying the coach didn’t break a law. Are you people so naive that you believe a 17 year old did not know what was going on enough to say, No Freakin Way, Coach, we are not going to do this. You people must live under a rock. If a 17 year old is guilty of something, the media gladly labels them as a “17 year old man” or “17 year old woman”.

She should use the Porno Pres playbook. Pay off her victims, then deny the assault, then admit the payoff and deny the assault, then go full moron. It’s fail proof.

I am well aware, being one, that males act really stupid when that blue-vein-throbber pops up and demands satisfaction. I'm just learning that women have the same issues with self-control. If true (knowing I'll suffer incoming wounds), the accused has shit-canned quite a life, as well as the lives of family members, the proposed victim and others.

Battery operated devices are available via mail, so cheaply.

OK....his D.O.B. is posted. Ain't gonna be hard (no pun intended) from here.

Anonymous said...

the reason this has been a hot button topic is the way the statute is written....it lists out specific examples....and it does not mention swim coach....and I bet there is a loop hole in what her role actually was....she may not have been a coach at the time.....she will walk if she takes it to the mat.

Anonymous said...

I don't see a jury convicting her. The women on the jury all know how many men have gotten away with much worse. And the men on the jury will be bug eyed imagining all sorts of kinky stuff. Waste of taxpayer money.

Anonymous said...

@1:52 i just wonder what sort of evidence is around. Maybe there is a picture or a verbatim message that can prove a case. Other than that, it would generally be a he said, she said. It’s basically “MeToo” with the rolls reversed for male and female. Believe the victim or require some evidence? It’s like Brett Kavanaugh. You can’t prove something never happened. But, if there is some physical evidence, that would change the issue.

Is there any significance that the arrest was made in rankin county? From all indications, it seems she coached in Madison and the kid went to school in Madison. How’d a crime happen in Rankin - unless it was at her home in Rankin?

Anonymous said...

Her actions while positioned over him were not appropriate.

They are REALLY going to have to prove that she was in a position of authority. He is older than the age of consent. If they met outside the pool and had a sexual liaison then it would simply be grounds for a divorce and possibly an Alienation of Affection suit brought by the husband against the young gun.

But this post isn't about Trump, despite your continued suffering of Trump Derangement Syndrome.

1. It's a crime (assuming the prosecutor can prove all of the elements of the crime beyond a reasonable doubt) because the act for which she is charged is prohibited by law.
2. The young man - not boy - cannot consent (although we all know here that he was probably a very willing participant) because the statute provides he cannot consent.
3. The alleged victim was probably HAPPY AS HELL that he bedded an older woman (assuming it really happened). This probably came to light because like most young men his age he was bragging about it when it got brought to the attention of his parents.

Except for the rigidness of the statute, the only way I really see this as being a real sexual assault/battery/rape (pick your label) is if the young man was somehow impaired at the time of the act. Who knows. . .

QUESTION FOR YOU SCHOLARLY CRIMINAL DEFENSE LAWYERS: Would she have committed a crime, being the young man's coach, if the young man forced himself on her? Remember, (1) he cannot consent; (2) she was his coach; and (3) there was penetration.

Anonymous said...

The law needs to be applied fairly across the board. Would everyone here saying it isn't a big deal because he was 17 be saying the same thing if it were a 17 year old girl having a sexual relationship with her 34 year old married, male softball coach?

There's a reason for these laws that are specific to those in positions of authority. It is too easy for the perpetrators to use their influence to groom children for sexual abuse and then intimidate them into silence. This case may be perfectly consensual, but I for one hope that she gets appropriate punishment if she did what she is accused of simply to reinforce the message to teachers, counselors, coaches, etc. that sexual contact between themselves and minor who they have influence over will not be tolerated in order to protect all students.

Good golly. When I was 17, I would have moved out of the damn house if my parents had filed a lawsuit against someone that was attracted to me. Grown woman, or not. That is what I preferred and was successful, but they didn't look like this predator. Damn it, son.

I get it. She's probably guilty of more than an affair, because of his age. But, his parents making this public will have more of a negative mental affect, than the act of the crime would have.

Kid, hold your head up. It may take a while to forgive everyone, but just know your folks and the justice system thought they were helping you. Instead, they are using your age to say you are a dumbass and can't handle yourself.

It's probably in Rankin County because he drove his ass over there. Unless, of course, he was only allowed to drive to Cypress Lake and straight back home. Poor 17 Year Old adolescent was seduced by an attractive woman. His parents may have brought this to light in fear that Mr. Reis was going to whip his ass or sue for Alienation of Affection and become an heir to their estate. This is a turble situation for the kid. He is going to hate his parents.

@3:40 - I’d be saying the same thing if the “victim” was a girl. This is NOT 1950. I’d wager a bet that less than 10% of seventeen year old YOUNG ADULTS are very experienced in the sexual arts. Hell, a third or more of them already have at least one child. This 18 year old age threshold is NOT a measure of ANYBODY’s maturity. It is an arbitrary line drawn in the sand by some legislator to appease some angry name who just found out her daughter was sleeping with her boyfriend. Further, I wouldn’t be surprised if this “child” was the one who spilled the beans because his girlfriend got tired of him. “Child”, my ass.

If they had matched on Tinder and hooked up in the back of his Tahoe, there would be no crime. Just because she is a school teacher and a swim coach is why this became a criminal case.

Every horny housewife in Madison and Rankin fantasizes about such a rendezvous.

Every middle aged married man wishes he could be 17 again and nail a MILF

Anonymous said...

Here we go again. Yes, the roles are reversed with the female being the predator, but the rules are the same. My problem with it is the same problem I have when it's a male softball coach and a 17 year old female - the 17 year old is not a child. Period. Male or female, not now, not in the past, not in the future. This should be handled in civil court if the kid thinks he has been damaged, but sex between a 17 year old and someone older than 17 should not be a crime unless it's forced. Children need to be protected, but older teenagers aren't children anymore. I don't know the magic age, but I know it's not 17.

Anonymous said...

Why is everyone picking on male softball coaches by using them as the example. Why not use a male swim coach as the example instead? I'm feeling bad for all the innocent male softball coaches.

The only thing that has her on the hook is she was in a position of trust. If her attorney can muddy that water she has a chance. If it goes to court it will get ugly. The parents of the 17 year old might not to want to take the chance of putting their child through that. The sands through the hour glass thing.

This woman is facing 30 years in the penitentiary. Also, if convicted, she will be classified as a violent offender, which limits where she can be housed, and whether/when she qualifies for release. Most likely, any visitation with her family will require them to travel to the women's facility in Greenville, Ms., and that's if her husband doesn't divorce her and a chancellor deny in-person visitation with her children.

Here are a few statutes to chew on, and "consent" is nowhere in them:

"A person is guilty of sexual battery if he or she engages in sexual penetration with a child under the age of eighteen (18) years if the person is in a position of trust or authority over the child including without limitation the child's teacher . . . or coach."

Miss. Code Ann. § 97-3-95(2).

"Every person who shall be convicted of sexual battery under Section 97-3-95(1). . . or (2) shall be imprisoned in the State Penitentiary for a period of not more than thirty (30) years . . . "

Miss. Code Ann. § 97-3-101(1).

“The following shall be classified as crimes of violence . . . Sexual battery as provided in Section 97-3-95 . . . ” Miss. Code Ann. § 97-3-2(K).

3:40, you still want to throw the book at this woman just to send a message to others? It's a very large book, and it carries a great of deal of force.

@643, if what you say is true, that is certainly something that will have to be dealt with through evidentiary proceedings. There may be a lot of things out there that never make it to the courtroom in front of a jury. This will play out over the next 6 months to a year. I will not be surprised if this gets pled down or dismissed altogether. While the parents may want a pound of flesh, they better be prepared to have their son cross-examined and all of his character laid bare. It may not change whether there is guilty verdict, but very much matters regarding sentencing. Not saying the boy has bad character. I don’t know. But I do know that defense attorney will be trying to do all he or she can to defend their client and have the least amount of jail time, if any. And a 19 year old male at the time of trial will look vastly different in front of a jury than a 17 year old with a baby-face.

Anonymous said...

Text messages were only about a "mutual fantasy" -- the words were not about reality, and didn't amount to anything more than sexting, so no penetration occurred. Sell that to the jury.

Anonymous said...

@6:43. That’s been going around town. Who would have gotten that out? Would the accuser have done that or are people just saying that without actually knowing?

What did those messages say? It would have to be very specific and explicit to be enough to prove a physical act.

Accuser and evidence will eventually be public if it moves further along in courts.

Mom is going to ruin this kid's head. This really does need to go away for the kid's sake. Can you imagine the crap he is enduring at school because his parents are trying to send this woman up the river? For sex? Do you really know what 17 year olds are exposed to in these times? Geez. What a non-event.

She shouldn’t have done it. And I don’t condone it. But, having been a red blooded 17 year old not that many years ago, I’d use the word “victim” loosely. When I was in high school my buddies and I would’ve walked across coals to tie up with that for just one night, much less an entire summer. We’d have laughed our asses off if someone called us a “victim.”

Just saying.

If she’s guilty, bar her from teaching and coaching. Make her do community service and go through counseling. But I can’t fathom her getting hard time unless there’s way more to this story.

17? I bet he hit on her constantly until she did the act with him. Was he an adult? There are hundreds of 16 and 17 year olds who have knocked up several girls. I say this to say, she violated the law with a technical minor, who was likely acting like a full adult.

Would he ever admit that?

What 17 year old would? None that I know.

Anonymous said...

I don’t know any of the parties involved, but I am just posting an alternative “theory” here. Until I recently talked to friends, I had no idea that competitive swim could be so cut-throat. I learned that there can be a lot of drama within/among swim teams. As with anything involving sports and kids, some parents get too involved. Parents will yank their child off one team and join another, bad-mouth coaches, and backstab their children’s teammates. Yes, we all know this can, and does, happen in other sports as well. However, I just wonder if there wasn’t some ill-will between this parent and the coach in question. Maybe her son was pulled from an event, etc. and this is some type of retaliation move. Perhaps mom and dad knew of the closeness between the swimmer and coach, but chose to ignore it until something happened that they didn’t like. Bam. Expose the coach. I am not saying she is innocent for I have no idea. Just something to consider.

Talk about a bunch of dumb asses. Get your heads out of your horny asses and try to understand there was actual harm done even if it’s beyond the scope of your dated frat boy perspectives. Grooming begins years prior to penetration and yes there was penetration, there was more than sexting going on, the abuse was physical and emotional. There are rumors of other boys on the team who were abused as well that may come forward. You may not be able to wrap your neanderthal heads around a sexual predator being female but they exist. It is tragic, not some archaic rite of passage for a young man, try to be respectful of that. It may be difficult to comprehend for the peanut gallery, but she needs to be treated fairly and just as the law would treat a male predator.

I'm amused that so many of the males commenting admit, in effect, that you have no self-control or judgment and are helpless if an attractive female makes sexual advances.
It appears that loss of judgment continues throughout life since you know nothing of the facts in this case beyond the ages and appearance of one of the parties.

The possibility that the male's parents may have seen negative impacts on their son's life never occurred to you. Nor do you have any concerns about ways this relationship could have affected the boy's entire life starting with his schoolwork and STDs including HPV and he could have been a father.

I don't see you excusing ALL teen age boys from running the risk of impregnating girls and women and taking no responsibility. I'll bet you complain about children born out of wedlock to teens.

And, while I suspect most of you are sports fans, "the special attention"to one member of a team by a coach impacting the entire team didn't occur to you either.

Perhaps, males shouldn't be in charge of anything. After all, a woman is at the mercy of her hormones for only short periods while you guys seem to admit your hormones short circuit your brains daily and for some of you, apparently, for your entire lives.

Try to settle down, take a cold shower, drink some coffee and try to imagine being the parent. What bad things could happen to your son if a mature adult with little interest in his long term future had more control and influence over your son than you do? What bad outcome could lead to him revealing that influence years later? Get your "little boy" under control and try to use that other body part, your brain.

@9:19 am. Very well said. All these posts saying that someone IS a sexual predator seem to be premature. The only way someone would KNOW what actual evidence there is would be the accuser spreading information. Or, the other possibility, is that people are making things up. There is no telling what the evidence is, but spreading things that ultimately may not be true might be considered slanderous.

12:26: We would all like to think you had good intentions and meant well with your post. It’s obvious that we aren’t all dumbasses. If you really believe this is Neanderthal, you have also been sheltered for way too long. While most of us have enough self control over this kind of situation, some don’t and they are eventually exposed. If the 17-year old’s parent wants to exploit their kid over this, the long term affects will be astonishing. It’s done now, however. Reis is probably guilty of breaking the law. But, the parent should have handled their son’s problems more carefully and with a little more thought. Your comment about something actually happening is disgraceful. You probably got off on typing the word penetration, even more when JJ let it through. Please stop spreading rumors. It is disgusting.

You obviously get your feelings hurt when others don’t have the same opinion as you. You exposed yourself as the real peanut gallery.

We’re all human and there exist laws and rules because some humans don’t act the way other humans expect them to act. Rules and laws were invented because humans don’t like making decisions about individual scenarios. You know.... (bang chest) it’s the law, now watch me enforce it???

Humans harm other humans all the time. Lock her up for a while as an example. The kid will probably have emotional setbacks, because his groomed relationship didn’t work out. Guess what, most relationships are groomed by at least one side of the relationship, no matter the age of the individuals. (Toddlers to Adults)

He will have additional setbacks because parents felt violated and exposed their son as victim, to the whole damn world. Just sad.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
