Where there is smoke, there is fire. In any county outside MS he would be forced to resign. This man has issues, and should not be allowed to carry a badge, anywhere.

How much were the legal fees? I bet that amount eclipses the settlement amount. Mason's opponents should include a ticker in their billboards that shows how much his behavior has cost the taxpayers of Hinds County. What could $330,000 do to improve the conditions at the detention facility? How many roads could be repaved for $330,000?

Just like DPS, inexperienced and irresponsible agency leadership costs taxpayers real money and reduces budget for core-mission activities.

Calling it here. With so many candidates Victor ends up in a run off with Spooner.....and you know we ain’t having that! Victor gets four more years.

Anonymous said...

God help us if Mason is re-elected.

Anonymous said...

Did they allocate the money based on their looks?

Anonymous said...

HOOKERS are alot cheaper than that lil bartab.

Anonymous said...

Lawyer fees come out of the settlement or, if a jury, out of the award. Spooner is the only honest man in this race and one who has a goal of law enforcement, not simply four more years and out with a PERS retirement.
The revolving door of sheriff's elections in this county have gone on long enough. Another Jackson PD chief? I doubt it.

This clown incumbent will never make a runoff. Not by a long shot.

Smells like ass in here

Anonymous said...

All of Masons clowns will be scrambling for other jobs on August 7th.
Good thing is, Hinds County's been a joke in law enforcement for the last 8 years because of Tyrone Lewis and Victor Mason.

Nobody will hire them. A run off!
PLEASE. Vance can't walk, or stay awake in meetings with the public, and Victor, just like Yarber, will be lucky if he breaks 8%.

Spooner Strong people..

@9:33 AM - If it flies, floats, or fu**s, it's cheaper to rent.

Anonymous said...

Which law firm defended the case? Was the settlement paid by insurance?

Anonymous said...

Victor's been a huge disappointment months into his Admin, he's lost his votes, his staff, his money and his title.
Another JOKER one and done.

Vance is strictly being pushed by a pinch of another group of the same litigious idiots from JPD.
Sorry, Spooner will be you're next Sheriff people.

There's always one way to clean this all up and to insure Mason's political and economic future for the foreseeable future. Reverend Victor Mason.
It never fails, it's inevitable. God bless you all!

Bet many folks never had any contact with these folks, yet have to pay for someones pleasure. Taxation? Can we claim this on our IRS forms, asking for a friend who didn't get any.

Anonymous said...

Victor has done a good job, and so has the HCSO, personal issues aside. They have caught a lot of bad guys and morale is good. And his personal indiscretions did not cost nearly as much as Tyrone’s riots.

Make no mistake, Tyrone will be back in charge if Vance wins.

Anonymous said...

I don't know who will be the next sheriff, but I don't believe it will be Richard Spooner. It's all about race in Hinds County. I base that on the last election.

Anonymous said...

Lisa Ross was the attorney representing the plaintiffs

Anonymous said...

Yo Mason, I will gladly let you "cop" a feel for $330,000.

("Cop" a feel... LOL)

Anonymous said...

And Hinds county taxes are getting higher and higher while services are poorer and poorer. I bet our state auditor could find a snake in the woodpile if he was ALLOWED to... but we all know it would be racist if he did

Anonymous said...

to 11:14.....not sure if it was paid by insurance , but you can be sure about one thing. not a nickel of it ell come out of masons pocket

Anonymous said...

Dorsey Carson represents Mason.

Anonymous said...

1:46, maybe you just want to chime in with unrelated comments because you are self-smarted, but if you read the releases, a firm in Brookhaven (who's bff is the HCSO atty) is the defense in these matters.

Anonymous said...

The revolving door of sheriff's elections in this county have gone on long enough.

That is an exaggeration. Two sheriff's since the long reign of McMillin hardly makes it a revolving door.

Anonymous said...

There is one sure way to clean up this mess and insure Mason's political and economic future for the foreseeable future. Reverend Victor Mason. Works every time.

Anonymous said...

It is sad that this buffoon extraordinaire is the best that Hinds County has to offer.

Anonymous said...

@10:28 AM....I agree.

Anonymous said...

If Vance does win it'll be in his best interest to leave some of that JPD baggage behind. He has some unsavory retired officers on his coattails. You can't turn the SO into JPD 2.0. The previous 2 have failed this far.

Anonymous said...

2:57 - How many does it take to meet YOUR definition of a revolving door. If Tyrone didn't satisfy your thirst for ex JPD, then I suppose Vance will. Tyrone, Victor, Vance....then following that, I guess we could have Lieutenant Graham? Or maybe we will have forgotten Bracy Coleman's indiscretions by then and elect HIM. Hell, Bennie will soon retire and would make a great sheriff!

Anonymous said...

Well put, @ 1:21a & 6:10a.

Why do we continue to think these idiots from JPD and their tag along known thugs, believe they're going to make a difference.

@6:10 said it best, they're not going into it to make a difference, they're going into this strictly for the money, power and ego. Vances entire support team are all proven and known to be shady, cliqueish, and power hungry.

How's that worked out for us the last 8 years. PLEASE go out and meet these candidates, or at least the ones who actually go out and wanna meet the people and answer our questions.

Not fall asleep during meet and greets and avoid answering our real questions that are based in facts.

Stop avoiding your voters. YOU know who you are and stop bulling voters with other candidates signs and waving their fans.

It's really been showing your true character.

Vance will be your next Sheriff.

"Victor has done a good job, and so has the HCSO..They have caught a lot of bad guys and morale is good."

I never thought Victor was smart enough to be on a computer. That sentence represents a 'cluster' almost as laughable as the jail at Raymond.

Anonymous said...

Victor, Vance, and Tyrone are all cut from the same cloth. The voters aren’t so shook up about the piece on the side situations, but they have realized that they don’t have the political leverage with these 3 idiots that they had with Mac. They’ve learned this for almost 8 long years. And just like that you’ll have a different Sheriff. It’s running like wildfire all through the community.

Anonymous said...

Victor has never investigated or charged anyone in his whole career with a felony. He’s never worked in the jail. He’s never done anything of accomplishment ever in crime fighting. Why are y’all so butt hurt about the poor job performance? Lee Vance has the same skill set that Victor has. I think he has a few settlements pending his on self

Anonymous said...

Ole Victor is the “tool man”. Give him your wife or daughter’s number and he’ll text them a pic of his unit...come on man, you can’t make this stuff up

Anonymous said...

God help this County if anyone other than Mason is elected. If the county had to pay for the lawsuits the board of supervisors would have said so and they havent. You people kill me with this. Victor is doing great. Besides I wouldn't want anyone that has purchased sex from prostitutes either Rodger Dodger. Keep on and we are going to expose you.

Anonymous said...

@10:44 & 10:51
those candidates people, don't want to hear facts, they just wanna push Vance ( Admin) 38 years, as with Vance as well. Several settlements behind his name, but were not suppose to mention that, act like they didn't happen, run a clean campaign.

Victor, 3 sexual settlements ( $330,000 )
A 4th pending and possible others in July.
But let's not mention those. Mason hardly attending any functions, as with Vance, they're running on their names only.

Change is comimg people, the impossible is about to happen..

Tick tock, tick tock .

Hinds County SO was the best it’s ever been under Mac...Tyrone and Victor are not even close.

They movin foward alright, just in the complete wrong direction.

Anonymous said...

Current administration says they are running a strong campaign...they didn’t file their report on time, and didn’t report much support, I think it was a very distant, as in VERY distant fourth place on the funds received. The only people that will openly support him are his top brass. His rank and file guys and the regular citizens all say he hasn’t done anything worth supporting.

Anonymous said...

I have studied all the candidates in the sheriff race and other races. I personally, think Spooner is an ok guy but he does not have the experience. These are days that too much is going on;therefore, we need someone with leadership and knows how to work with ALL law enforcement agents , I think the only candidate in the sheriff race that can get the work done is Vance. He is well known and have worked with a lot of other agents. Nothing against Spooner but safety is so important! In times like this ,Vance is the stronger candidate. Again nothing against Spooner!

Anonymous said...

Best candidate in the race, but is getting little attention, is Juan Cloyd.

If you really want to get competent leadership with good experience, you ought to check him out.

And no, I'm not on his campaign team. In fact, won't even be voting for him in August, because (unlike Bill Waller) I wI'll be voting in the Republican primary.

@1:22.
If Vance was so expierenced, why did the mayor fire him? If he had sucha great working relationship with other agencies, why didn't he PUBLICLLY come out against Stokes with him making the statement, throw rocks, sticks and bricks.
Under Vances command, the crime and murder rate was at their highest in 25 yrs..

I personally know the Sheriff's in Rankin and Madison and Mason, along with Vance had absolutely NO relationship with them.

Vance is doing this for his boys and ego. He's more than financially secure in his retirement. All lies my friend and the community knows it.

But he needs OUR vote now, instead of hiding behind his mayors..

Not 3 times in a row.

@1:22

“Spooner has no experience”

Respectfully, you may need to polish your glasses and re-read everyone’s platform and experience.

Spooner is the only candidate that not only has experience in all facets of the Sheriff Office, but he’s also successfully supervised most of them as well...it’s too late for OJT now at Hinds SO. Spooner is the only on who will be able to hit the ground running.

Hell, just compare his campaign to the others. He is running circles around them all the while he’s maintaining a family and a full time job.

Kingfish said...

Mayor didn't fire Vance. He resigned. Mayor told him to replace a Deputy Chief with someone who had no supervisory experience. Mayor micromanages the department. Just as Bear Bryant quit Maryland, so did Vance.

As for Mac, he was a mediocre Sheriff at best. He couldn't manage a budget. Did nothing impressive law enforcement wise. However, he talked tough all the time so everyone fell for the act. At election time, he would play the race card so all the Republicans would jump over and vote for him. Department was way behind Rankin and Madison in terms of training and technology. He comingled the jail and operations budgets so no one could see how he spent his money then would scream bloody murder and try to intimidate anyone who tried to do so.

Then there is his tenure at JPD. Crime got much worse under his tenure. Worst thing that happened to him was that job because it put him under the spotlight. Tried to rig one high profile case and got called out for it. Naturally he threw a tantrum and tried to get everyone who questioned him fired.

Mac may have been behind Rankin & Madison County, but Lewis, Mason & Vance are all way behind Mac

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
