Seattle is Dying

Once a Mecca of the American west coast, Seattle is now descending into a climate of lawlessness and hopelessness.  KOMO asked if Seattle is dying in a recent hour-long show.  Residents of the Jackson area will recognize some of the problems and complaints.  Enjoy.

The narrator sounds like darth Vader narrating a horror film.

Sinclair throwing out more scary spooky things.

Boo!

Seattle has more going on biz wise in its ghettos than Jackson has all together.

Click bait

I watched it. Reminded me of Jackson in so many ways.

I've been trying desperately to find work out West. Anything to get away from this backward ghetto shithole. Anyway, I think they are unsettled by the Southern accent and consider us a liability best contained in the South. As someone who has made half a dozen trips to Seatle, it is lightyears ahead of the Jackson Metro.

Seattle and Jackson are completely different worlds. Income levels for Mississippi is nothing similar to Seattle. Seattle is nothing but a city of white guilt filled citizens. You can go days without seeing a black person on west coast. Especially Seattle and Portland. White hipsters are all the rage.

No expectation of accountability in the home? No healthy children and future citizen adults....and ultimately, no civil society. The disease of socialism is what America is succumbing to.....not just Seattle. But very good video demonstrating the "love everyone" government with no expectation of you being a contributing member of society.

This is what cities run by the leftist and liberals become. This video is worth watching.

This is what cities run by the leftists and liberals become
You mean more successful than any conservative enclave could ever imagine? You can't name a single successful right-wing city. Face it, leftists are more creative, productice, and draw more like minded white collar workers than Brandon, Flowood, or Madison could ever dream of.

The side effect of this enormous wealth is that it attracts the poor and indigent seeking compassion. And those "leftists" give 100x more compassion than right-wing so called "christians" provide.

And before you start replying "Mississippi is more charitable" you need to know that tithing to your mega church doesn't count as compassion. That's just buying a new luxury SUV for the preacher's wife

Only solution is re-opening mental institutions and relaxing involuntary commitment laws, like the good old days.

That white liberal on their city council may as well have said "Next!".

While some people may not like it, the population is voting by moving. Some people like Mississippi, others like Seattle. Any place experiencing 28% growth will have problems. The growth happens because people want to live there. Before you throw stones, watch the Sinclair expose of the Mississippi Delta. Oh, wait, there isn't one.

Seattle population year 2000 = 564,000; 2019 = 724,000. 28% growth.
Mississippi population year 2000 = 2,787,000, 2019 = 2,987,000. 7% growth.

I visited Seattle a couple of years ago and had a good time. The people were enamored with me, a white republican male from Mississippi, being able to sit in diners and cafe's with white/black liberal/progressive, openly LGBGT(and any other abbreviation), and carry on normal conversations with them without casting judgement or prejudice. I've learned that if people would stop listening to what the media tells you and get out and experience life, it's not so divisive or doom and gloom like the media likes to portray it.

PS, I would love to have the outdoors stores that call Seattle home. But they sell channel catfish at Pike Place Market for like $12/lb. We are sitting on a gold mine folks!

Mississippians throwing stones a Seattle is the perfect study in burying your heads in the sand. We don’t have the problems of Seattle because this place is draining like a new sink.

Rod Knox said...

All the flotsam and jetsam that develops across the country seems to recognize that it is much easier to survive on the streets and off the grid in areas where the weather is somewhat mild and the home folks are somewhat reluctant to throw them out as opposed to Mississippi which vilifies even those who live in poverty despite a great deal of effort to succeed and a climate that discourages camping out most of the year. So it is likely that Mississippians make up the state's fair share of the homeless in Seattle, San Francisco, etc. And aren't we proud! But in reality what is the long term solution to the problem? That "Work = Freedom" plan turned out bad all the way around.

Anonymous said...

People should watch YouTube videos of the poverty in Los Angeles too. So glad I live in a state which is affordable.

Unable to respond intelligently? Resort to an ad hominem attack!

Ad Hominem is a fallacious argumentative strategy whereby genuine discussion of the topic at hand is avoided by instead attacking the character, motive, or other attribute of the person making the argument, or persons associated with the argument, rather than attacking the substance of the argument itself. Typically employed by mouth breathing aimpletons

Leftist drive out lower income families. Look at San Fran all black families fled because they couldn't afford to live there anymore, same is happening in Washington D.C. Austin Texas. Your not looking at the top 10 states with population growth all red states. California and Ny have lost more population and businesses. Even the pro sorts teams in those, states have to make up for the amount of taxes players will pay. Look at Lakers Dodgers Yankees etc.

By the way, KF, the reCAPTCHA function on this form has gotten ridiculous!

Ever wonder why reCAPTCHA has you solving problems identifying things a self driving car or drone would need to identify?

You are training Google's AI and they pay KF for the service.

Jackson MS. and Seattle are at the opposite ends of the urban spectrum. One is tax base rich, run by rich liberals who let the world know that their table is overflowing and they owe the poor because of it. The other is tax base broke, run by people dependent on their government jobs, who feel that others owe them support for years of systematic oppression. If you know which is which, you should also know that neither is headed in the right direction. There are thousands of miles between the two. The sad part is, the people in between do not give a damn.

You must know that calling people a snowflake has never actually bothered anyone.

Seattle and Mississippi are a tale of two extremes

O.k. you can swing at Seattle and judge off this video saying they have an issue with crime, drugs, etc etc. But, New York City and its 5 boroughs is way bigger and they had the same issues Seattle is facing now back in the late 60's to early 80's. I would say NYC is a moderately run city and they've overcome a lot of obstacles in regards to crime, homeless population, drug epidemic, etc etc

Seattle just has to find ways to overcome that stuff and I am pretty sure they will before Mississippi will have a majority of the bridges fixed in this state.

Now with Mississippi, the pros and cons of living here!? That's a whole other story. The politicians hate the citizens and the citizens treat them like royalty. Quality of life sucks here, it's quiet, you won't have a problem finding a church, but you will have a heck of a time getting there on these roads? You get charged an arm and a leg for having a late model vehicle in regards to car tags? You can't buy liquor in some places, hell you can't have a drink in some cities?

Pros of living in Mississippi? Well, there are a lot of good cooks. You can't beat the fried fish or fried chicken down here. If you live in the Jackson Metro area - we are literally a heartbeat away from some cool city's in the southeast region - Memphis, New Orleans, Birmingham, Mobile, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, the Florida Gulf Coast are all within a 6-hour drive. I still don't understand how we are not capitalizing on that in order to bring events and attractions here to drive in some out of state revenues.

There are some cool things about Mississippi, but too many people are comfortable with the status quo. The love affair with futility continues.

This is false. I'm a former Jackistan resident living in the PNW and I am here to tell you that Seattle is rocking it (Boeing, Amazon, the list goes on and on). Housing cannot keep up with the demand as a result of the economic explosion.

The homelessness issue is real but that's because the PNW culture tolerates and in some cases encourages it (by throwing more and more $ at the issue).

Comparing Seattle and Jackson is like comparing spam and filet.

@9:31 AM here. No ad hom attack. Based on your comment I concluded that you must live a miserable hateful life. My comment was stating an opinion, my opinion, that you and others are free to consider, or not.

Agreed, it's hard to take anything like this from Sinclair as even remotely credible.

You need at least $150,000 per year to live in Seattle, Austin, San Diego to name a few to have a middle class exisyance in those cities. Been there done that.

@8:10am & 3:56pm - Nashville. Read up on the Metro govt model and remember TN has no state income tax. I’ll hang up and listen.

Seattle has more active construction cranes right now than any other US city. So yeah, that story is total bs.

Anonymous said...

If a prosperous, philanthropic, liberal haven like Seattle is really interested in helping some of the poor people living in backwoods areas like Mississippi, why aren't they be making efforts to relocate as many of these poor folks to their area as possible so they could help them ? Looks like that would be a win win to me.

9:25; Mississippi and Alabama have more orange cones than the rest of the universe combined. Can you draw a correlation with that too?

Mississippi wishes that they could have Seattle's problems like Toe-Bob Hickman down in Florence wishes he had the same problems as the plastic surgeon on Madison doing breast augmentations every day.

Construction cranes mean economic activity, bozo, which generally is the opposite of death

Anonymous said...

So as of July 2018 Seattle had the most construction cranes. The status "right now" is unknown.

Your chicken’s name is Collin, he is a heritage breed, free range, fully organically raised, fed a diet of sheep’s milk and hazelnuts.......

Fuck the west coast. I hope the San Andreas fault ruptures and the whole goddamn lot slides into the ocean kicking and screaming. We have nothing in common with those dirty smelly hairy hippies.

Passed through downtown Birmingham last November. Construction cranes everywhere. Yet, who the hell wants to travel to downtown Birmingham? Or UPtown, or WESTtown Birmingham.

Anonymous said...

“So as of July 2018 Seattle had the most construction cranes. The status "right now" is unknown.”

Find more recent stats, prove it’s changed in 8 months.

Anonymous said...

Prove it hasn't changed in 8 months. You laid down the "right now" marker. The onus is squarely on you.

Anonymous said...

Ok Mr. Pedantic, I guess you showed me, huh? The linked article also said Seattle has had the most active cranes for the last 3 years running (as of mid 2018). Hardly the sign of a dying city, which was my point.

Anonymous said...

6:33 - Please stop needling us with that Seattle crap.

Construction cranes in Seattle are trying to shore up crumbling buildings and putting lipstick on pigs. Anybody who has been there knows that. Some of you fools want us to believe cranes equal new buildings and progress.

Rod Knox said...

Seattle and the state of Washington can laugh off all the criticism from Mississippi

https://taxfoundation.org/states-rely-most-federal-aid/

When Mississippi is rated #1 it's because the rating is from worst to least. And look at the company we are in at the (?)top.

“Construction cranes in Seattle are trying to shore up crumbling buildings and putting lipstick on pigs. Anybody who has been there knows that. Some of you fools want us to believe cranes equal new buildings and progress.”

So renovation is not economic activity and progress? Got it.

Anonymous said...

@ 11:54: patching potholes is economic activity (spending money) and it is definitely progress.

Eureka...Jackson's problems are solved!

Kingfish said...

Yes, Jackson and Seattle are vastly different cities.

It is interesting to see how two cities, one rich, majority white, with a thriving business community, is getting the same results as a crumbling city, majority black, dwindling business community, and dirt poor is getting the same results with similar criminal justice systems. That was the point of the post.

The last part of the video is intriguing as it shows how drug treatment programs at prisons in the Northeast are used. Meanwhile, at MDOC, our prisoners get hooked on drugs while in prison.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
