Paying people to register to vote...is that legal?

Anonymous said...

If the age limits are 11-19, I doubt any high school seniors could attend.

March 8th has passed.

Anonymous said...

Surely they're not gonna require ID... akin to voter requirements?

Anonymous said...

9:52, I think that means high school seniors who fill out a voter registration card will only pay a $2 cover charge instead of $5.

I think it is a novel idea that this community/church group is trying to increase voter roles amongst the youth in their community. Maybe more community entities should give this a try.

10:35 - You're might astute to catch that. However, you reckon that's why the headline says 'last week'?

I heard that the forms are partially pre-filled out to make it easier for the yutes in attendance. This is helpful in the event that they are unable to readily recognize "democrat party."

The Republic dies when the elected are able to bribe the electorate with their own money.

And most of the individuals being registered to vote at this even are multi-generational cradle to the grave recipients of tax payer funded benefits. Which means it is actually not even their money.

@12:26, racist much?

Anonymous said...

Yes, this is a crime: 52 USCA § 10307(c). MS has combined registration so registration for state and federal are the same.

Anonymous said...

Wait till they get their jury summons. What do you mean civic duty!

Sam, point out to us where on the form "the yutes" select party affiliation. You either don't even live here in Mississippi or are ignorant or, maybe, both.

Way to show your ignorance Cynical Sam. Mississippi doens't have party registration. If you had bothered to look at the application, readily available online, you would of known that. Why don't you keep your racism to yourself?

Anonymous said...

@12:54 I don’t think your understand what “racism” is.

Hermit King said...

@12:54
I wasn't really taking race into account in my statement. I'm not a racist, but I am a race realist.

I counted the number of single parent (most often fatherless) homes. They have an extremely high statistical probability of dependence on government benefits, regardless of the race of the recipients.

The prime contributing factor to crime and poverty in this state is the single mother dependence on government benefits. Once again, that is also independent of race.

Another nega5ive factor is a single mother with no relationship with her father. Thus depriving the children of an additional male role model.

This is paying to register. Ask the Canton aldermen if it's legal to pay someone to vote.

Yeah, if there is anything more important than the upcoming elections on the minds of 18 and 19 year olds on the first Friday night of spring break, I defy anyone to identify it. I suspect that voter registration forms were about as popular as a 2-hour lecture on temperance and abstinence.

Illiterate and racist is no way to go through life, Kingfish.

@1:56 PM & 2:48 PM - Someone has been using my handle. Of course there is no mention of party affiliation on the voter registration form.

4:39 - That's not the point. The point is, for those of you who can connect dots, is.....trick kids into showing up for an event that offers free food and the possibility of poontang afterwards, and get them to register to vote. Then the next objective is to contact them (of course they had to sign in with cell number and address) and get them to vote democrat.

9:52, this has been going on for years up here. Money, beer, liquor, cat fish and chicken. Years.

Kingfish said...

It's Griffin's church.

12:54 - Playing the race card has not worked in fifteen years, so you can stop now. What you objected to was the truth. But rather counter the point or debate with facts, you have no more sense than to throw down the race card. Sorry; Calling people racist no longer causes them to slink into a corner.

Soooo, its Griffins church. Who is this suppose to benefit? Paul, Martina or both? Paul's district has moved farther down and the southeast side of the county and there are quite a few new subdivisions in that area. Paul will be going back in regardless since he has no credible competition. I'm quite certain Mathews doesn't stand a snowballs chance in hell.

As for Martina, she has one opponent in the primary in Walter Johnson then if Courtney Rainey isn't convicted of voter fraud Martina faces her and Bill Featherston in the general election. If Rainey is in the mix that could not go well for Martina.

Aside from the fact that spring breakers are not really a sought-after voting block, if this little twerkathon was an attempt at a, um, constituent appreciation event, why did they not only charge any admission, but also sold food and drinks AND actually barred same from being brought in? It sounds more like a for-profit event with a very amateur attempt at grassrooting tossed in for whatever reason.

What's the current Canton-Headcount for arrests for voter fraud? I've lost track. 6, 8, 12. And don't forget that the master of voter fraud in Mississippi, head of a local NAACE, Ike Collins, serving prison time, has a nephew in Canton who has been fired by the city but is now working at the, ahem, alternative school out on 22. Compliments of several city councilmen.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
