Police Chase Ends in Shooting

A Richland police chase into Jackson ended in a shooting of the suspect Saturday night.  WAPT reported:

MBI is investigating the shooting.  Sawces say the officer was chasing a stolen vehicle.

One question that should be answered is whether the suspect was armed.  Sawces say the suspect was not armed.  Stay tuned.  The suspect was taken to a hospital in Warren County.

Just a criminal coming home to roost. No News Here!

From what's reported here, whether the suspect was armed is not automatically relevant, and whether that question "should be" answered does not automatically follow.

A plea to the people of Jackson. The next time you see a policeman from another city chasing a thug from Jackson please throw the thugs that have been hiding in your house out into the street. Maybe the policeman will take a few of them along with the thug he is chasing. Your state will thank you.

Assuming the Police Chase started in Madison County or on County Line Rd. (covered by both Ridgeland and Jackson PD's) then came into Hinds County, why is the suspect in Warren County Hospital? Not adding up to me.

RICHland

RIDGEland

I believe this was a Richland officer (Rankin County).

I watched the interview with the Mayor. Is his message that when the perp reaches the City limits in Jackson that Rankin or Madison officers are not allowed to follow? So it is home free and back to a safe hide-out.
Optics look bad.

Jackson is sanctuary city for criminals. When is the mayor & his appointed city police going to address this.

So you have no problem with a cop shooting an unarmed suspect if he does not have an actual reasonable fear for his own physical safety or life? Just asking for a friend while I chill at Fresh Market making fun of the idiots who shop at Whole Foods and refuse to leave Jackson.

So will the Radical City be doxxing this officer?

Just a perception of police violence. NEXT!!!!!!

It is my understanding that when the suspect jumped out of the car it looked like he had a weapon. After he ran, there was indeed a gun found on the ground by the car, a loaded AK-47 in the car along with drugs. AND the car was stolen out of Jackson. But of course the news isn't reporting this.....

I thought the MBI said they weren't going to investigate Jackson police shootings anymore. That sure didn't last long.

Good question: Was the suspect armed?

Good reply: It shouldn't matter because he was a fleeing felon. However, it does, thus reducing the fear a criminal has when committing a crime.

Personally, I would support a law that allowed the use of deadly force to stop high speed chases. It would save some lives and the thugs would know they could be killed for evading police while endangering the public.

How can it be considered stolen? He be entitled to your ride.

All of the facts are relevant, especially whether the perp was armed. High speed chases make both cars, the perp's car, and the police car, potentially lethal to the general public. The first duty of the police is to "serve and protect". Protection from lethal danger even extends to the policeman's own car which the officer drives with concern and discretion. Officers are taught and expected not to shoot into a crowd of people even if a criminal might escape. They must also be expected not to endanger the public with a high speed chase unless absolutely necessary, even in the city of Jackson where only criminals live. It's a case by case determination and sometime the chase goes too far.
In this case the perp must have had a criminal history as armed and dangerous or was an active shooter since the officer felt his apprehension was a life and death issue outside his jurisdiction. This is coming from someone who supports police.

As a citizen with no criminal record and no intention of ever pointing a firearm at a police officer, I feel pretty confident that I won't be shot by a police officer. I also pull over when a police vehicle is behind me with the blue lights on. I think anyone who does the same is pretty safe from getting shot by a cop.

Seems simple to me. But I also feel like people are responsible for the actions and not everything ahold be blamed on someone else.

You got it Dub! Just follow the officer's commands, and everyone lives to see tomorrow.

It wasnt a JPD officer that shot. What part of Richland did you not get?

I'm disappointed in you, Kingfish. I don't care if the guy was armed or not. It's high time we return to the premise of 'armed unless nekkid and obviously NOT'. I don't want two cops showing up at the front door of another to tell the wife and kids their man ain't coming home. Fuck armed! Leave that shit to Tom Head and Y'all Politics.

It amazes me how everyone can comment on a situation they no nothing about cuz if they did they would no there was 2 people in that car one of them being the owner of the car. But I've not heard anyone say anything about that. R the fact that the person was shot in his back by richland police while being unarmed. His only wrong was running from them but that's a lesson to learn do run cuz richland will shoot u in the back crazy. Ricland just goes to far with their law. I mean they threaten people freedom if they don't snitch on somebody now they shooting somebody in the back for just running it's sad

My biggest problem with police chases is when the chase goes through residential areas. Byram chased a car to my street in south Jackson. The criminal ran a red light and slammed into an innocent citizen's car. The criminal ran, and I don't think they found him. The innocent citizen was hurt, and his car was totaled. Glass was all over the street. My teenage son went into street and cleaned up the glass because all the responsible parties (the criminal and the police) just left the scene. Police chases should end the minute it reaches a residential area.

If the police were free to shoot the criminal that was running you would have a lot less police chases. The criminals would quite running

@12:10 Police DON'T "chase" a criminal into a residential area. Criminals purposefully DRIVE into residential areas.
You must be a special kind of stupid....smh!!

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
