JPD issued the following statement.
Jackson Police are investigating a shooting incident involving Officers
of the street level crimes unit, following a traffic stop on Bailey
Avenue near Woodrow Wilson Avenue.
Shortly after 1:30am,
Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction. Moments later,
that vehicle fled from the stop to a nearby neighborhood. Officers
caught up just as four black males bailed out of the vehicle and one
fired a shot at Officers.
Officers took cover momentarily, then gave chase. A short time later,
Officers apprehended three of the four a wooded area.
Two of suspects have since been charged with Attempted Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer.
They are 20-year-old, Quivarious Parker and 18-year-old, Jordan Green.
The fourth suspect remains at large as Police attempt to identify him, with little information known.
Officers did not discharge their firearms at anytime during the incident. There were no reported injuries.
Anyone with information on the identity and whereabouts of the
missing suspect in this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at
601-355-TIPS(8477).
Kingfish note: Green was arrested in January for being in possession of a stolen firearm. He has not yet been indicted. He is currently free on a $5,000 bond.

First let me say that I am not a lawyer. Something smells a little fishy when they catch 3 suspects but only charge 2. Someone's daddy or mommy called in a favor because I've never heard of someone fleeing police and not get charged. Can kf find out who is the third suspect?
Maybe one of these fine young gentleman ratted out his friends, and didn't participate in the shooting.
My concern is why didn't the officers fire at the perps? I hope it wasn't because they didn't want to deal with the media, social justice warriors, and the like.
It is Trump's fault as is everything that people don't like. Meanwhile, go out to eat tonight with the money you still have from the tax reduction.
Sounds like the PD was doing their job.
Thank goodness no officers were hurt.
I only wish a K9 would have been able to catch the other perp.
@5:53,
The reason the officer didn't fire at him is bc our mayor is anti cop and sides with the criminals.
Hey KF
Is Channel 3 now writing some of your articles?
...." A short time later, Officers apprehended three of the four a wooded area."....
four a wooded
Or maybe because it's in the dark and you probably have a dark sight picture and better kknow at what you are aiming.
Maybe he was just about to start college.
Thank you KF. Many scenarios where the police wouldn’t fire at a target they can’t positively ID. I’m so sick and tired of people second guessing the cops without all of the info
sticks and rocks didn’t work??
How dare they release the name of a citizen engaged in gunfire with a Jackson police officer. The JPD officers can't be identified -- so that's a double-standard. Mayor L should request a committee, surveys, hearings and such to determine if a citizen's name should be withheld -- just like a JPD officer -- if there is gunfire with JPD.
