Motorcyclist killed

Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey issued the following statements.

(1) Rankin County authorities received a 911 call Monday evening in reference to a deadly motor vehicle accident. The accident was reported around 8:30 p.m. on Riverbend Drive just off of Luckney Road near Flowood.

A passing motorists observed the red glow of a motorcycle tail light off the roadway and returned to investigate. The Good Samaritan stated he could not initially locate the operator and hoped he had been taken by someone to a hospital. Moments later, he located the operator laying in a water filled ditch nearby.

The Samaritan was able to pull the operator from the water and immediately began administering first aid. Shortly after beginning first aid, a local first responder arrived on scene and began to assist life saving measures.

Medical personnel from Langford Fire and Pafford Ambulance arrived on scene and took over rendering aid. Although medical personnel worked diligently attempting to save the life of the motorcycle operator, he succumbed to his injures while still on scene.

The motorcycle operator did not have any identification on his person. The motorcycle, a Suzuki GSXR1000, was registered to an individual in DeSoto County, Mississippi. The registered owner was contacted and advised he sold the motorcycle the pervious day to a Rankin County resident.

Rankin County Coroner, David Ruth, transported the operator from the scene and is working with law enforcement to make a positive identification.

Based on evidence at the scene, it is believed speed played a major factor in this accident.

(2) Rankin County Coroner David Ruth contacted the Sheriff’s Department this morning to release the name of the individual killed last night in the traffic accident on Riverbend Drive, Brandon. Coroner Ruth confirmed individual to be Johnathan Chadic W/M 36 Years-of-age from Rankin County. Chadic’s mother was notified last night by the Sheriff’s Office but was unable to make a positive identification until this morning. Chadic was known to be race motorcycle on an amateur circuit and had years of experience riding. He purchased this particular motorcycle Sunday April 8.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and co-workers.

Sympathy for the family and a regrettable loss of life.

Having said that, he was driving without a license, speeding, and speeding to the extent that his driving was obviously reckless. I don't care if he raced motorcycles on the amateur circuit; this was on public streets. If you don't develop good judgment by 36, it ain't coming.

Natural selection....

What a tragic and unexpected loss! He was a great guy. We will be praying for his family.

Some people don't know when to keep their mouth shut. doesn't sound like you've developed good judgement yourself, 10:46, and especially 11:01.

Horrible tragedy and loss of life. Thanks to the person who stopped and tried to save him. Prayers for his mother and other family and friends.

It's a terrible shame, but no matter his experience it sounds like he wasn't acting responsibly. I know that stretch of road and I can only imagine he was taking it at high speed to lean in to the curves and test out his new bike, but doing it at night on a stretch that is not well lit is just asking for trouble. It sounds like he misjudged a curve and laid it down.

Hopefully this can serve as a lesson to other riders. No matter how experienced you are, if you behave recklessly on a bike you will eventually pay a high price, and the the ones who truly suffer are those you leave behind.

What 12:05 said.

Sorry 12:05

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I am thankful no one else was injured as a result of his recklessness.

Very sad. Being an experienced rider makes it worse. Maybe unfamiliar with the new bike, tire conditions/temps, issues with pavement and speed of course. Rest in peace.

On a somewhat related note, why is it that we NEVER see JPD or MHP in pursuit of the crotch-rocketeers on I-55 north and southbound, day and night, reaching speeds of what must be 95-100 in groups of three to six? It's a miracle any of these boys live past the age of 25.

I knew him well enough to know he managed a high pressure business almost flawlessly at a very young age. He was humble and kind. He was valued by his employers and respected by those whom worked under him. He was a rock and delight to his mother. I can’t imagine his younger brother’s grief when they notified him at his college. They were an extra close family which has been shattered. They don’t even know if he was speeding, but they did find a dead deer close to the accident. I though I might quickly go here to check for more details. The callousness of these comment are beyond comprehension.

He was a business client of mine and personal friend also. Can't speak for whatever speed he was/was not doing, but I would be surprised if it was excessive.

He seemed to have enough respect for the bike(s) to drive them at the track. I never heard of him being careless on the public roads.

It's obvious some of you have no clue what a GSXR1000 is & can do. Having said that, he was a great rider & mentor that offered advice on & off the tracks to anyone. Jonathan was respected by many. To those of you saying he was driving reckless, I'd hate for a deer to run out in front of your vehicle causing an accident. Someone may accuse you of speeding & reckless driving.

My prayers are with his family, friends, racing buddies & biking community.

Motorcyclists die quite frequently and predictably. As long as they don't recklessly endanger others, I am nit sure why anyone needs to kvetch about them. I hate the noisy things, but to each his own. Wear a helmet and observe the speed limit. Make sure you are a registered organ donor as well, as you may have several usable body parts intact after the crash.

@10:58 Since you speak with such authority, one can only assume you obey all traffic laws in whatever method of transportation you use, also can assume your organ donor status.

'There was a dead deer nearby'. Now there's a red herring. It would be mighty simple for the authorities to prove or disprove that the deer was involved. Blood/deer hair on the bike, apparent day of death of the deer, damages to the deer's body.

To insinuate that a deer might have caused the accident is just as careless as insinuating speed or reckless driving caused it. No difference.

12:10, yes, you can assume all of that.

He was a great guy who would do anything for anyone. For all of you great investigators who seem to know what happened: This was in a long straightaway, a slight tire mark, and an abrupt right turn into a ditch. Not a move an experienced driver makes without a reason. He was avoiding something-- we will never know what. Whatever happened was out of his control. RIP.

Some of you have no shame! You simply cannot stop yourselves! 6:48, what kind of human are you??? Why are you and those making similar comments even making this your business. This does not affect you. If you have nothing nice to say, move on.

I'm so sorry for this young man's family and friends who have had to come to a site such as this to defend their loved one.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
