Supes re-zone Gluckstadt property

The Madison County Board of Supervisors today unanimously approved commercial rezoning of more than 40 acres located on the southwest corner of Gluckstadt and Bozeman roads. The 40.68 acres owned by the Minnie J. Bozeman Family Limited Partnership was rezoned to C-2.
The Board postponed action on a second commercial rezoning request at the same intersection. An appeal hearing on the petition to rezone about 10 acres on the northeast corner of Gluckstadt and Bozeman roads was rescheduled for the March 16 Board meeting. It was the second continuance on the request by Lucky Town Acres to rezone 9.76 acres to C-1 commercial use. Planning and Zoning Administrator Scott Weeks told the Board that a local homeowners association is close to working out an agreement with the owners of Lucky Town Acres.
Rezoning petitions for both properties are attachments to items 28 and 29 of today's Board agenda at this link:

John Bell has bought a new wardrobe of cargo pants. You know....the ones with nine pockets.

John Bell is going to have a tough time holding on to his seat this next election. Sheia Jones will give him a run for all that money he's been stuffing in his pockets.

Crosby should go ahead and apply for a position with the new Sam's Club.

No Fear, I heard Rudy was hiring!!! Nevermind, they are already on his payroll.

Sheila WHO? said...

Whoever Sheila Jones is, it might be good for her to get on out in front of the public. I've never heard the name before reading it here. You have to have some serious qualifications to run for these offices.

Anonymous said...

@6:11 SERIOUS QUALIFICATIONS? REALLY???? You just have to get the most votes. There are NO qualifications to be supervisor. Heck, there is one supervisor on the board that had to be passed out of high school. Doubt he could have passed GED. Better to put a nobody in office that probably isn't a crook yet instead of reelecting a crook and an idiot

What are they proposing for the 40 acres on the SW corner?

Fairly certain Sheila Jones is a local attorney.

I've been wrong before.

Sheila Jones is an attorney and works as the Chief Hearing Officer in the Disability Department of the MS Public Employees Retirement System. She is also a Registered Nurse and has been active in the Madison County Republican Party for years. She is married to Dr. Les Jones, a pediatrician in Madison who has taken care of lot of kids in the area and is well respected. I've known her for over 30 years and I can tell you that she's going to stand up for what's right, will not take crap from anyone (listening Banks, Griffin, Rudy, etc.?), and will oppose anything the least bit shady. Some will call her a Doctor's wife looking for something to do, but Sheila is the real deal and will be great Supervisor for the people of Madison County - something we haven't had for the last eight year!!

Yelp! Every seat has an opponent. Now all these payed supervisors (by Rudy) are going to actually have to do some work and unsuccessfully try and hold onto their seat. I feel a change a comin. With Sheila Jones, Trey Baxter and the other candidates, maybe some real county work can now be done. They don't need Or want Rudys money.

Petition Z119
Another Subdivision is going up on the corner of Church Road and Stribling Rd Ext. Around 30 smaller homes.

Anonymous said...

There are several neighborhoods with very small homes in the works. It's a shame Gluckstadt didn't incorporate. The area will go to shit in ten years, school system included.

Anonymous said...

@3:18 What does smaller homes have to do with the area going to .....? Everyone does not need a 3,000+ Square Foot home. I guess it's code for undesirable.

Anonymous said...

Smaller homes = cheap = more Jackson residents moving to the area = gradually (hopefully) turn into third world area

Sheila jones might be a good person but being supervisor takes a lot of hard work. Not just a 40hr per week job that ends on Friday at 5pm. He'll most residents are not home to complain and want or can meet until the weekend. So Sheila clear your weekends cause they belong to us voters!!! Supervisors remove dead dogs when called on to do so! Can you load up a dead dog in your Benz Sheila? Better hope so. Supervisors have to go out and look at drainage problems in neighborhoods. Yes their are snakes!! Bring your chaps Sheila. Trust me it's a full time demanding job that never stops. Your cell phone will ring until midnight most nights with people raising hell about everything. Maybe get 1 call in 10 saying thank you. That's only of you can get two other supervisors to vote to help you in your district. Sheila looks like a smart lady but anyone that has ever held the position will tell you what a hard and thankless job it really is. Glad it's you and not me!!

Rudy is going to eat Sheila's lunch and make her like it! Hell he has the votes to move her office into the bathroom. She won't get a county car, she will be given a mower. She will need it cause Rudy won't allow the grass to be cut in her District. The man with the votes makes the rules. Good news is you can cut some grass going back and forth from canton!! You think I'm kidding??

Good insight friends. I'm running against JBC. I drive an older modest car. I don't need a county car. I'm not afraid of snakes but I sounds like I need waiders. Im not sure I could pick up a big dog, but a lot of my district is in Ridgeland city and Madison city limits so maybe I can get some help with that. We get night calls frequently anyway so I'm okay with that. I do love to ride lawn mowers, it gives me time to think. And I didn't know I might have an office. I can get along with most folks so long as everything is above board and professional. I love this county and the people that live here and will work hard to better my district and the county.

An honest person with integrity and intelligence and dignity running for supervisor---Thank You Jesus !!!

I noticed a proposed re-zoning sign on the Galleria parkway on the property on the east side at the roundabout on the north end. What is that about?

Anonymous said...

Sheila when can we get your cell number so we can start complaining?

Anonymous said...

So happy JBC will have someone running against him. You already have the vote of this Twin Harbor resident. Also will help with your campaign if needed.

Anonymous said...

@12:27......If you think for one minute any sitting supervisor is going to go jump off in a ditch to look at a culvert, pick up a dead dog to be put in the back of their county provided vehicle or hit a lick at anything other than a rib or a piece of chicken....you need to take a deep breath smell what you're shoveling. The only time the public stands a chance of seeing a supervisor is at a meeting at the chancery court house and that's it. Banks and Griffin control the board along with JBC. The JBC loses, they'll suck Howland in to their little web if he wins....@12:30 Warnock doesn't have a vote on the board.

Anonymous said...

The only candidates that stand a chance of winning are the ones running against white supes. Both Banks and Griffins districts were redrawn a couple years ago to take in more black residents. Griffins district had whitened up to the point he stood a real chance of losing the election.

I admit that I'm biased, but I'm also confident that anyone who knows my mother would agree with me. When it comes to Sheila Jones, what you see is what you get. She knows herself and is comfortable in her own skin. She values what is true and right. She takes pride in everything she does (yes, even beekeeping) and genuinely cares about a job well done. She’s not a whiner. She doesn’t point the finger at someone else for a mistake of her own. She isn’t afraid of anyone, and she’s willing to make an unpopular decision if she believes it’s the right thing to do. She’s that person who turns the car around and goes back to the store to return the extra change from a miscalculated bill. She’s that person who stands up to the workplace bully. She’s that person who refuses to go along the crowd that's willing to fudge data. Instead of obsessing over what’s wrong with the world, she focuses on setting a good example and bringing out the good in others. She sticks to her guns and stays true to her beliefs. She walks her walk. And while I know my mom may not have the name recognition of the incumbents since this is her first time running for office, I hope this post gives you some insight and makes your decision at the polls this August a little easier.

I've known Sheila for only a few years, have been her mentor in beekeeping. I know her to be genuine, honest in all ways. She is dedicated to anything she takes on, and does a great job. Unlike "anonymous", I don't hide my identity!

Sheila Jones is the hardest worker I know. She is smart, honest, conservative with money and will stick to her beliefs. We need her for our district in the worse sort of way. Please vote for her !!!!! KCP

The only snake handling JBC does is meeting, off the record, with Rudy, Banks and Griffin. His knowledge of culverts is limited to photos he's seen on flipcharts prepared by Rudy at 800 bucks an hour. Crosby once claimed to be making more money than any other Kroger manager in five states. Why would he shit-can that plum to ride around Madison County listening to Merle Haggard and ads from Mac's Fresh Market? The answer today is the same as it was the day he was first elected.....'follow the money'.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
