The Jackson County Board of Supervisors demanded that the Trustees for the Singing River Health System resign. The Sun-Herald reported yesterday:
Supervisors Monday approved a resolution asking for the SRHS trustees they appointed to step down, effective immediately.
Two members of the Board of Trustees, board president Michael Heidelberg and Larry Cosper, said Monday afternoon they do not know yet what they intend to do. They said they learned about the supervisors' resolution after the meeting. Neither of them had seen it.
About 20 SRHS retirees attended Monday's meeting and applauded when supervisors agreed to ask for the resignations.
Board of Supervisors president Barry Cumbest voted against the resolution, saying he supports his trustee, Allen Cronier.
"I know where his heart is," Cumbest said, though he noted Cronier indicated he'd resign if asked to do so.
Morris Strickland, who had been on the board, already stepped down because he is a resident of Biloxi. State law requires trustees be "adult residents" of Jackson County. Supervisor John McKay appointed Strickland to the position but noted Monday he blames SRHS attorney Roy Williams for not telling Strickland he had to step down because he had moved from Jackson County.
Supervisor Mike Mangum introduced the resolution because he felt it was the "right" thing to do and the "right" time to do it. The resolution says it is meant to "create an environment conducive for repairing and restoring SRHS" in an effort to move the county-owned hospital system "forward in a positive manner."
"I think this is a dramatic step," Supervisor Troy Ross said. "I think it's a step that may correct the ship."
The attempt to get the trustees to resign came just one week after supervisor Melton Harris reappointed SRHS trustee Ira Polk to another five-year term. Harris said he trusts Polk, but also elected to support the move to ask current trustees to step down.
The trustees by law can refuse to step down if they chose to do so. Rest of article.

The SRHS BOT will leave when they get good and ready because the BOS have no authority to remove them. Look for a reply today from these Untrustables, who by a majority vote, decided to kick the pension plan to the curb but failed to ratify the minutes of the meeting/vote as required due to a judges order to cease and desist.
Singing River Board to Jackson supes: Nah.

SR Board should vote to ask the supervisors to resign. They're carrying as much responsibility as anyone. Dumbasses.
Now the DMR frenemy, Sen. Brice Wiggins, is gonna legislate them out.
Senator Red Snapper is always looking for something to act important over.He is one of the best stand up comics in the Ms.Senate.
