We are going to the last week of the campaign or as someone else said:
Might as well get this out of the way so here are the latest missiles from the Senate race.
Big news: Former U.S. Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin announced she will campaign for Chris McDaniel today:
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will campaign for Tea Party-backed state Sen. Chris McDaniel on Friday morning, the McDaniel campaign announced on Thursday.
Palin, a Tea Party leader, endorsed McDaniel months ago and will be joining the state senator and conservative primary challenger to longtime incumbent Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS) at a rally in Ellisville on Friday morning. Rest of the article
Cochran camp (and at this point I'm not distinguishing between the PAC and campaign. Their all Coch's. ;-)) can not let a McDaniel campaign day go unpunished and sent out an interesting mailer that when opened, a little recording of then-radio show talk show host Chris McDaniel yapping about an Alabama candidate and her boobies. Hmmm..... very damning until you watch this old video from Keith Olberman to realize what was going on in that election was made for talk radio:
Then Breitbart is touting as some big scoop a quote that the Senator said he will not debate the State Senator:
“This is not a debating society,” Cochran said explaining his decision not to debate McDaniel. “This is a race for the United States Senate.”
Cochran went on to say the voters of Mississippi will decide who wins. “The people are going to decide who wins the race,” he said. “Nothing that I can say is going to make much of a difference. It’s too late in the campaign. Most everyone has made up their minds.” Rest of article
The Cochran PAC shot back with this radio commercial by former Senator Trent Lott:
while McDaniel pushed the endorsement of the other Barbour in this press release:
“I am for McDaniel because Congress spends too much money and Thad Cochran is right in the middle of spending and borrowing money,” Jeppie Barbour told Breitbart News in a phone interview on Wednesday
“I resent my grandchildren having to pay for these politicians to party. I am ready for a change,” he added.
“He’d be able to make a difference if he went in there and made an effort,” Jeppie Barbour said. “And we may send him some help in two years. But their argument about seniority doesn’t hold up when you listen to all of the rumors that Thad’s gonna quit in two years. I’m not much impressed with what ‘seniority’ has done for us anyway.”
“I think if Chris wins, there will be a parade [of GOP support behind him],” Barbour said. “I think the thing that makes a difference to me is his attitude about spending is different [than Cochran’s]. I just know we need a man in Washington who will not throw our money away."
Jeppie Barbour added that while this campaign “is plenty bitter, we’ve had worse,” and he pinned the source of the negativity on Cochran.
“I think the Cochran camp took a poll and they realized they had to do something—and now we’ve got the Clarion-Ledger carrying water for him,” Barbour said, noting however that “by now, everybody [on both sides] is bitter.”
However, the Cochran camp sent out this press release touting their endorsements:
While U.S. Senator Thad Cochran campaigns all across the state this week with conservative Republican leaders from Mississippi, the parade of out-of-state groups supporting Chris McDaniel continues to roll on. They don’t really know Chris McDaniel and they can’t even vote for him.
Thad Cochran has already been joined on the campaign trail this week by Congressman Gregg Harper, Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney, Transportation Commissioner Mike Tagert, and today with Lt. Governor Tate Reeves—and with other conservative Mississippi leaders who will be joining Thad at campaign events between now and June 3.
All of this highlights another key difference between Thad Cochran and Chris McDaniel: Mississippi’s conservative leaders are endorsing, campaigning with, and voting for Thad Cochran. Out-of-state special interests groups and faraway politicians are helping Chris McDaniel with more than $5 million already spent trying to prop up McDaniel’s campaign.
Below are quotes from conservative Mississippi leaders who are supporting Thad Cochran because they know him personally—they know his record of getting results for Mississippi—and they know he is the best choice for Mississippi’s future:
“Senator Cochran is a pioneer of the Mississippi Republican Party and has been instrumental in helping with my efforts to grow the economy and provide jobs for thousands of Mississippians. After Hurricane Katrina, Thad dedicated his time and influence to our state’s recovery efforts as we rebuilt from the nation’s largest natural disaster. Our state has benefited from Senator Cochran’s leadership for over three decades. In today’s political environment, we need this experience for Mississippi’s future.” --Governor Phil Bryant
“I am glad Senator Cochran is running for re-election and I, like thousands of Mississippians, had encouraged him to do so. He is the father of the conservative Republican takeover of Mississippi, and his wisdom will be an asset to the conservative cause as long as he serves. We as Republicans have a major fight in Washington to unwind the Obama agenda in the next six years, and we need our best minds on the job. I hope all Republicans will rally behind Thad Cochran.” --Lt. Governor Tate Reeves
“The people of Mississippi need Thad’s experience and proven conservative leadership more than ever. Thad’s work on behalf of Mississippi is a testament to his selfless dedication to our state and its future. He has my full support.” --U.S. Senator Roger Wicker
“A true statesman, Senator Cochran has dedicated his life to serving the people of Mississippi. Thad has my family’s full support. And Mississippi needs his leadership in the U.S. Senate now more than ever.” --Third District Congressman Gregg Harper
“Thad never wavers from his principles and always puts Mississippi first. As the first Republican to win statewide office since the end of Reconstruction, he paved the way for the Mississippi GOP, and we are all standing on his broad shoulders. Senator Cochran has consistently carried the conservative banner, and during these difficult times we need his strong voice more than ever.” --First District Congressman Alan Nunnelee
“I look forward to Thad’s continued service to the great state of Mississippi. Senator Cochran has been the epitome of an honorable statesman and we are better off because of his service.” --State Auditor Stacey Pickering
“From the Natchez Trace to the agriculture research in the Mississippi Delta, from Katrina Recovery on the Coast to the University Medical Center, Mississippians do not need to go far to see the work Senator Cochran has accomplished for our State. I look forward to supporting his reelection.” --Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann
Wow. What a mouthful of endorsements. Then there are the outside groups. The Club for Growth posted this ad yesterday:
and the McDaniel camp responded to an ad linking McDaniel to Photogate with this commercial:
Kingfish final note: Some of the people on both sides really need to get laid.

Uhh, why are you campaigning in your hometown (Ellisville) on the Friday before the election?
I hate everything.
Thad took your advice to heart!
Congress has a 15% approval rating. 15.%.
What should be said is that Thad can beat the Democrat and McDaniel can not. If Thad does not win in the primary the Demos will hold the control of the Senate..
Jeppie ever backed a winner that was not Haley??
Jeppie Barbour would endorse anyone for money. Everyone knows this. When I see someone saying that it means something that he has endorsed McDaniel it lowers my opinion of them. All it means is that the campaign has written him a check.

Polling says otherwise.

Enjoy your anonymous opinion. It don't mean shit.
I can't wait for this to be over. No more daily tea party robocalls. And to think, I almost signed on when the tea party got going, but I thought better of it and decided to see how things played out. Glad I waited and avoided being associated with this bunch of screwballs.
When McDaniel loses on Tuesday, will y'all promise to go away so we can have this blog back?
Speaking of getting the blog back, KF, we could really use some jackassery on Wednesday, Thursday at the latest. And I mean jackassery of the fullest, plumpest, firmest, NSFWest kind. Excuse my laziness for the time being. Can you oblige?

9:18, and you Anonymous opinion does?
It amazes me that a so-called adult cannot post in a public forum without using sophomoric vulgar words. Must be ol' Kangaroo or one of the few other children who post here. Not hard to spot. They are in the same league as that disheveled goober from JFP.
...will y'all promise to go away so we can have this blog back?
We? You mean you and the other RINO rope sanders?
Does anyone not realize CM will be indebted, obligated to the out of state pacs that have sponsored his campaign?
All of these peons and underlings that the tea party has rallied will get an "Atta Boy" and sent back to the boonies. Why does CM want to be Senator? Answer: follow the money. All of the campaign rhetoric doesn't overcome Cochran's experience and knowledge, regardless of the picture the baggers have tried to paint. I haven't spoken with a tea partier yet that can give me a sound reason for supporting CM. All they can say is we're tired of the system. CM is part of the system. I don't believe CM will win, but I hope the tea baggers will think about this election, and do the right thing for themselves and the state.
McDaniel needs to be elected. This out of control spending is leaving nothing for our kids and grandkids. All you Anonymous bloggers quite texting and go have some children. Then you will have a different view of America future. Or maybe this all you are good at blogging.
"Does anyone not realize CM will be indebted, obligated....?"
Shit, are you kidding me? How do you think Cochran became a multi-millionnaire? Saving green stamps and clipping coupons? Cochran is at the very head of the trough when it comes to indebtedness in D.C.
First of all, he owes his soul to the democrat party. Next in line come the lobbyists.
SHEESH!........
I haven't spoken with a tea partier yet that can give me a sound reason for supporting CM.
I haven't spoken to a single Thad supporter who can come close to providing a reasoned justification for the generation killing national debt Cochran has voted to inflict on the future of our country.
I don't believe TC will win, but I hope the RINOs will think about this election, and do the right thing for themselves and the state.
What is a rope sander?
Yes, 10:22, because referring to folks by the pejorative "tea bagger" label is absolutely the best way to bring about thoughtful discussion on the pros and cons of various senatorial candidates and political philosophies. You're a regular Dale Carnegie, ain't ya?
What is a rope sander?
Apparently, reference to those who are not masters of their domain.
Seems to me the vote comes down to whether a person wants a senator who will represent Mississippi's interests or a senator who will represent the nation's interests.
I haven't seen anything in campaigning from either side to suggest anything different.
Seems to me the vote comes down to whether a person wants a senator who will represent Mississippi's interests or a senator who will represent Haley and Henry Barbour's interests.
I've never heard over the last several days, " I was going to vote for McDaniel but since his campaign has gotten so nasty and he has all those crazy people and outsiders working for him, I'm sticking with Thad. He won't embarrass us.

Don't be such a cheapskate. Go buy some new girlie magazines to replace your well-worn old ones.
It must be difficult to be a middle-age man who still has to shave the palms of his hands.
You should have listened to your Mama back when you reached puberty MANY years ago.
Sarah Palin?? Really???? No offense to Chris McDaniel, but she is completely irrelevant and is as much a public servant as a Kardashian. Her involvement is enough to make me reconsider my vote.
Kingfish final note: Some of the people on both sides really need to get laid.
This senatorial campaign is like watching a Laurel and Hardy movie.
Classic ending begins at 8:25
And I was going to drive a 320 mile round trip to vote ABC. I'm voting for Shaw O'Hara...a snowball stand on every block.
Jeppie was the mastermind behind the highly successful Charlie Ross for lt governor and Dave Dennis for governor campaigns. The last win he had anything to do with was when he was elected mayor of Yazoo City 50 years ago.
re: "I haven't spoken to a single tea partier yet who can give me a sound reason for voting for McDaniel."
I can and I am not a tea partier (used to be republican until the Barbours co-opted the party).....at least one "sound reason to vote for McDaniel" is because he is NOT COCHRAN!!!!!
Jeppie Barbour = Billy Carter. Does he have his own Jeppie Beer yet?
" (used to be republican until the Barbours co-opted the party) "
Amen. Power has thoroughly corrupted Haley, Henry and Austin. They've arrogantly deluded themselves into thinking that they own/control the Mississippi conservative vote. SCREW THEM. Vote against anyone they support.
How much federal gubment money did Palin turn down when she was governor?
Well lets see... hhmm who do I vote for? Thad = debt, get self and others richer, backed by "insurance? commissioner" and tate reeves (which is disappointing) -or- Chris = fresh blood , backed by tea party and barbours and sarah palin. This is difficult. I will have to vote for the lesser of the two evils. I will take a nap and think about it.
