Do as I say...... the Brother Kali edition

Remember Brother Kali Akuno, former director of special projects and external funding under Mayor Chokwe Lumumb?  Here he is on video gnashing his teeth over Octavian's loss (:28):

He engaged in quite a few conspiracy theories over why Octavian lost:

Well, that's the essential question that we have been studying since the election finished on the 22nd. And a couple of things that clearly stood out. Number one, Antar won over 65 percent, 68 percent to be exact, of the black voter turnout. And normally in a city like Jackson, which is over 80 percent black, that would give you a landslide victory. But the black voter turnout was low. And we'll--going to--go into--I'll go into a few of my own explanations as to why.

But the other kind of flipside of that was that there was a record white turnout for this particular election, and that that was really the difference in terms of the sheer numbers. It was 75 percent of the white voting age population in the City of Jackson, those who registered, turned out to vote (KF note: That is a damn lie. White precincts didn't even get to 50%), and it looks like only about 35 to 40 percent of the black electorate turned out. And Antar only won 10 percent of the white electorate. So that shifted the balance in the favor of now mayor Yarber significantly, who only won 32 percent of the black vote. So it was a very odd vote, but it spoke to kind of the times and conditions that exist here in Jackson, Mississippi, and the campaign, really, of fear that Tony Yarber ran on and some of the dirty tactics that his campaign used to really try to paint Antar not only as a radical, but as someone who was going to turn the city's finances and budgets over to a number of unsavory characters was kind of how it was portrayed. And this wasn't public, and we didn't get all this information until a little bit after the campaign was over, but that is basically how it stood.

DESVARIEUX: Let's go back to your first point, though, Kali. I want to ask you: why was black voter turnout--was so low? Why was it so low?

AKUNO: Well, the reason I think it was so low: number one, folks knew Chokwe Lumumba very well from all of his years of service in the community, you know, over 40 years of the Jackson community. So there's a tremendous amount of respect, understanding who he was, his character, what he stood for. He was tried over time. So people knew that. Antar being so young, being his son, people didn't know him just personally or know his reputation as well, and I think that hurt him a bit, particularly with the older voting population.

Complaining about low voter turnout? Well, perhaps Kali should lead by example. As in actually voting. You see, The Kingfish checked with the Election Commission and found out our dear Marxist brother is not registered to vote in Hinds County. Advice to Kali: If you are going to complain to the media about your guy losing due to low voter turnout, why don't you get off your ass and register to vote? And then of course, actually vote.

And that, my friends, is the bottom line.

There might be some reason why he cannot register to vote. Lots of people can't. Some not having proper residence, criminal record, no proper id so on. No idea why he didn't but maybe he couldn't.

I know lots of people who vote and aren't registered. They are all democrats though.

WAH! WAH! WAH! gasp... WAH! WAH! WAH!

Somebody ought to check as to whether Chokwe Sr. has recently voted.

Who cares... It's over. Did someone not get the memo? Moving along now.

Kali goes 5:11 to where he will be paid for his agitation. The Chuckster put him on Jackson's payroll but he was working full-time on non-city business.

At the conference this weekend he exhorted the attendees for 'resources', meaning money, to allow the Jackson area 'organizers' to continue to work here.

Kali has to eat Jackson.

Kali is sober and truthful here. It was a fast cycle and the tax and water bill hikes hurt the Lumumba brand. Felon population is large here. The white population was electrified by the special election--voting at 75% vs 35% for the black?!? Amazing mobilization of the minority voting block. Ok, I'm over it. We lost it on the ground.

As an COJ employee, he went by "Kali Williams". I wish I knew what ss# he used, and if he used this fake name.

There was no 75%

When you really think about it, the fact the Mississippi is a "solidly red" state is ridiculous. Dems SHOULD have 35%of the vote (blacks) coming out of the chute in every election, needing only 17% of the white vote to win, but noooo. They don't vote!

Somehow this equates into our state being sooo conservative, when if AA's would get off their collective asses, they could have a Dem win in every statewide election.

What was the turnout for whites?

Municipal voter rolls need to be cleaned up. I saw a Clintonian vote and a Madisonian told me he still voted in Jackson. I estimate that type of illegal voting is worth hundreds of votes.

The deadwood on the rolls would be thousands.

I just want to know when "Gentrification" became such an evil word. Just skimming Wikipedia, it seems to me that both the left and right use it to reverse inner city urban decay, abet using different models.

The white population was electrified by the special election--voting at 75% vs 35% for the black?!

Flat out Bullshit. You can't prove it and BS Artist Akuno can't prove it because it didn't happen.

Anonymous said...

Tell us May 5, 2014 at 6:01 PM how you'd like to measure that. Seriously.

Anonymous said...

Well 6:07. Read my lips. VOTER ID. Duh. Course his diatribe is total BS.

Anonymous said...

Hell whites could be 100%, but we are still 18%. Octavian and his Detroit fools and shoulder chip losers got their asses handed to them.

Anonymous said...

5:30 I find it hard to believe the vote was 75% to 35%. But where else can you have 110% of the counted vote??

The loss proves that people vote their pocketbooks. They think Yarber will repeal the water hike. Tony Yarber in his JFP video interview says right of the bat that the Lumumba water hike shocked him because he "knew Lumumba was not interested in a second term". Yarber had the Mayor's Office on his plan from that point on. He is a professional politician in the mold of Harvey Johnson Jr.

John Stuart Mill said...

"Gentrification" got a bad name in these parts because the corrupt municipal government of New Orleans Mayor Ray Neagin wanted to oust the poor folks from the Treme because it was high ground. The same gentrification occurred near Lee Circle for the same reason. The Lumumba movement that propelled him into Jackson municipal politics started with the Hurricane Katrina refugee and recovery issues.

Reading the last 2 comments makes me realize how futile it is to discuss "real" on this blog.

well, the long and short of it is chokeweed, sr is gone, chokeweed, jr. is on the run, kali baba is off the payroll and the plan to paint city hall red, yellow & green has been postpone indefinitely! it's a good day!

Apparently, Khali Akuno's mother never taught him the value of being gracious in both victory and defeat.

I seriously doubt voters held Lumumba's son responsible for his father's actions as mayor nor did they believe he would be just like his father if they approved his father's actions in office.

The biggest failing of Chowke Antar Lumumba's campaign was taking credit for things his father had done and suggesting he was a clone of his father. There is too much human experience of sons not living up to their father's legacy for that alone to be persuasive. And, he failed to run on his own .

He would have done better to say, " This is what I learned from my father" instead of " I helped Daddy with this.".

Actually....when the Fondren Bugle endorsed the young man, you could hear the water circling the bowl.

You made my morning. haha

Kingfish said...

So if he isn't registered to vote because he couldn't register to vote, then the question that must be asked is why?

Either Khali is a convicted felon or he hasn't paid his poll tax.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
