What great news ! This man is a hack in all senses of that word. Abusive, unprofessional and just plain incompetent , A disgrace to law enforcement. Ridgeland is a safer, better place after 7/24
The Haute Pig in Madison has closed, so he will not be able to have his retirement party there. That's a shame!
The abuses of Daniel Soto will follow Houston wherever he goes.
One must doubt whether his replacement will be an improvement. Police act like an occupation force, as opposed to public servants.
my gawd ya'll! where in the hell do you shrill hacks come from? I would imagine Jimmy has become weary of battling the ever encroaching crime cancer oozing like the blob from the bold new city turning ridgeland into a ghetto. In case you missed it these vermin actually turned up in cypress lake the other day.
I have never met Jimmy Houston, but odds are it's more about dealing with City Hall rather than the criminal element(s). Too bad Jimmy doesn't have the necessary "ace in the hole" that retained Charlie Newell as chief for so long. Even after Charlie was too ill to fulfill his duties, he remained the chief.
I don't know Mr. Houston personally but will congratulate him on a long career in law enforcement. I've watched his name be sullied on this site for years by anonymous turds who float to the tops of punchbowls. If he goes to Holmes as an employee, he can continue his state retirement contributions. If he goes as a contractor, he can enjoy the retirement benefits he's earned with many years of public service.
The rest of you cheap-shot,lettuce-heads can continue your pissing and moaning lives of non-contribution.
When Jimmy Houston was chief in Flowood I had a problem with vandals (unattended utes). After a couple thousand dollars of damages, I called Jimmy. I said I had a problem, he invited me to the station to talk about it right then. He put a plan together and executed it and I never, ever had another problem. I can say without any hesitation that I have not seen this level of service and problem solving from any other police department in the metro area. I wish him well in whatever he does next, too bad we don't have many effective people in government.
Being a Ridgeland resident. I will miss Jimmy very much. I have felt safe ever since he started as Cheif of Police. I dont understand why people would say such horrible things about people they dont even know. I wish you well Mr. Houston and you and your professionalism will be missed dearly.
You have a problem noel with unattended members of a local Indian tribe? In Flowood?
What did you think Ridgeland resident about Daniel Soto's abuses of police power while on the RPD force? Is that the sort of law enforcement that makes you feel safe?
Not anymore! They would cross the street when wandering past my business (post Jimmy Houston problem solving). I don't have any business interests in Flowood these days but the problem stayed fixed up til the time I left. Now that I think about it, I don't have any business interests in Jackson these days either.
Notice KF breaks another story before the lazy and unethical "mainstream" press.
Houston is/was a polarizing figure. Either you love him or you hate him. I personally look forward to seeing who his replacement will be. Congratulations, Ridgeland!
It will be Randy or possibly John.
Well anonymous, Daniel Soto was a black eye for all of Ridgeland and its police force. And knowing Mr. Houston myself he did not like what Daniel was doing no more than you did. The chief had to catch him in the act and finally did. Now, if your wondering why he was not convicted of anything maybe you need to question your district attorney. Personally I was upset he was not brought up on charges myself. But that was out of Mr. Houstons hands at that point. I think Mr. Guest is a good DA, but I think he should have made an example of Soto since he screwed up several of my friends lives with false DUIs. Anyway, now hes Tennessee's problem. As far as Im concerned Mr. Houston has done an admiral job as chief, but nobody is perfect. And he would be the first to tell you he did make some mistakes during his time as chief.
Houston moved @ a glacial pace to fix the Soto problem of which he was FULLY aware early on. Good spin @ 12:20 but nowhere near factual.
The Soto alarmists brought the same crap up six hundred times on this site during the Madison County Sheriff's race. If that's all you got to bitch about, you were in good shape with law enforcement. Sounds to me like Chief probably asked 10:52 to stop hanging around the entrance to Victoria's Secret and he's got a burr in his craw.
...during the Madison County Sheriff's race.
How'd that work out for Jimmy?
