Latest crime stats

Here are the latest crime reports for Jackson, Rankin County, Madison,  Byram, and the Rez.  No, Jackson is not updating crime reports on the website. Jackson has not posted crime reports since the week of May 19.  JJ filed a public records request for the report and is going to keep doing so every week until Jackson starts updating them on its website. If the Rankin and Jackson reports do not appear, it is probably because they are in flash.  Enjoy.

City of Madison through August 12, 2013.

Byram through August 10.

Thank you for holding Jackson accountable. Someone ought to.

And why did we move out of Hinds County again?? Oh wait.

I see the Jackson report but never a Rankin Report. Please, how can we see this?

The Rankin County report is right after the Jackson report. Just scroll down.

Rest of the media could have filed for them.

Are you a new reader to JJ?

I am an infrequent but longtime (2008ish)reader of JJ. I don't normally look at the crime stats posts.

as a matter of fact,

They are now trying to give pedestrians tickets for walking in the park at the reservoir after dark. Am I the only one that thinks this is wrong?

Thank you for that enlightening post 4:24. I've made a note.

What park at the Reservoir? There's a trailer/camper park, several boat-ramp parks and at least two parks with picnic tables. If they close parks at night, they should gate them. What would be the violation? Walking after sunset? Trespass? Loitering slowly?

A walk in the park said...

You have to be talking about the park on the Madison side by Cock of the Walk also known a Coco Beach.
After entering the park through the open gates to have a walk with my wife along the new walk path just after sunset, the Reservoir Police confronted us proclaiming the "park is closed". I informed him that we were leaving and he continued to repeat himself so I turned to him and told him " We know, we heard you the first time". He then asked to see my I.D. I asked why and was arrested for ASKING why he wanted to see my identification. As I explained to him that we were leaving and pointed to my vehicle, he put his hand on his gun while saying "I'm going to ask you one more time". I showed him my I.D. and after checking me out and having no other cause to arrest me, he came up with a B.S. non compliance charge. I guess he was intimidated by me as he called for Ridgeland backup who actually had sense enough to listen to my wife's story about how ridiculous this was and that we did not know the park closed at sunset. The Ridgeland officer could not convince the Reservoir idiot to release me. On the way down Hwy.51 to the infamous Madison County Jail, the Reservoir idiot took us into oncoming traffic twice while texting on his phone. I was finally released at 2:00a.m. the next day. Looking forward to my court date, I was disappointed to find the idiot didn't bother to appear, the charges were dropped and bond money returned. I made a visit to Chief Perry Waggoners office to discuss the matter with him which was another total waste of time as he just backed his officers position, offered to take me back to court and sucked up all my air. All of this over walking with my wife at the park which had no sign stating the park closed at sunset at the gate we entered.

10:20 Wow. If it had not happened to me as well, I'm not sure I would have believed it. What did they charge you with? I was walking through the park on Northshore Parkway next to the trailer/camper park. I saw two police cars so I assumed I was safe. What a bunch of nitwits. They told me they would give me a ticket next time. They were extremely rude.

They must enforce the law 'equally'. Anyone remember the brawl on July 4th? They are just trying to keep the jackson residents at home. Except they are idiot officers who are to stupid to get a real job because they have a GED. So they work for the reservoir police.

Anonymous said...

Have never faulted the officers on the street as much as I've found their leadership lacking and accountable.

Considering the shit level pay they receive, if the "idiot officers" who are "to stupid to get a real job" are not hired then please, good golly, pray tell, what next to ignorant classification do you want in the job?

Y'all want an experience level of public safety employees who don't come at any less than double or triple what they pay the Res staff.

Put up or shut up. Ain't going to get there with the bozos at the top of the command structure. No amount of bitching and complaining makes it any less so. You PAY FOR QUALITY.

Farted in the Park said...

10:57 I was charged with "Failure to Comply" I didn't know there was such a B.S. charge as that. I later learned that I should have asked the idiot if "I was being detained, or am I free to go" and repeated that until he answered the question. Evidently there are enough of these type B.S. laws on the books to enable the idiots to find something no matter if you just farted in the park or something like that.

6:59, I didn't have a license on me because I had walked from my house. These little pricks think they can get away with anything.

6:36. It doesn't bother me what kind of officers the reservoir police hire. I stay away from the reservoir. It used to be nice. But now it's nothing but white trash.

10:20 if you were able to read you would look at the sign at the entrance to the park. The hours of the park are listed on it. And also, it's people like you who give law enforcement a job.

Anonymous said...

What time, exactly, IS sunset?? Who gets to decide whether the sun has "set". And what does one do if he misjudges the exact minute of sunset and finds himself still a hundred yards from his vehicle? Should he low-crawl back or hibernate until morning...or what?

Anonymous said...

10:51, if you were able to read, you would have read 10:20's last sentence.

The Rez board passed the ordinance closing the the parks at dusk. Case of some bad apples ruining it for everyone.

Anonymous said...

1:42, lol, that's the same thing I asked the cops. They asked me what I was doing when I was clearly walking and listening to music with my headphones. They admitted I didn't look like I was involved in any "skullduggery"

A walk in the park said...

1:50, LMAO!!!at10:51. Its people like that who caused the fees they now charge to enter the park today. 10:51 was probably one of the bad apples there July 4th. If they could read and comprehend it would have been obvious that this instance had occurred when the walking trail was NEW and they had not yet installed signage at the NEW gate areas at the NEW WALKING TRAIL we used to watch the supermoon rise 5/12. When I informed Chief Waste Of Space` there was no signage, his response was " Well the trail construction is not yet finished". This perplexed me as the only thing that appeared unfinished or incomplete to me was the fact there was no signage and they were obviously still training the idiot who is supposed to shut the park down how to lock a gate.

Thugs have ruined it for everyone else. Don't blame the cops- blame the idiots who caused it.
A rape occurs every 9 hours in MS. So if extra law enforcement are put out there to try and protect us,just let them do their job and comply with the rules. If it means closing the parks at "dusk" then sick it up and find somewhere else to walk. It sucks but that's the way it is now because of stupid people who ruin it for everyone else.

I will not be walking in the park after dark again. Other than the cops, all of the lighting has been taken down. I could easily trip on a tree root and bust my head open and bleed to death. I have been going to the park at 8 am, after sunset, and the gates are still closed. I noticed this morning and yesterday that they now have RC SDs instead of PRV patrolmen.

Anonymous said...

10:17 what is RC SDs

10:17 what is RC SDs

Sunset varies on each day. Look it up in the newspaper, if you have to do so. Then remember that dusk is earlier and the discretion of the arresting officer.

/same thing happened to a college buddy of mine in the 1980's, at a state park near MSU

Anonymous said...

RC SDs - let me take a wild guess, using the context of the thread: "Rankin County Sheriff's Deputies"

See - this is how you ace the SAT, youngster - context.

Anonymous said...

So, because of the high incident of rape (8:22) they took down all the lighting (10:17)? Typical brilliance.

A walk in the park said...

Rebekahahahaha, I'll blame the idiot cops for not posting the rules properly for people to know how to comply. Sick that up.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
