Lum announces run for the House.

That is run for the House, not run to the House.  Bradley Lum announced his candidacy to replace Kevin McGee in this press release:

BRADLEY LUM ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR DISTRICT 59 HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVE’S SEAT

Bradley Lum, a lifelong Mississippian and a fourth generation Rankin County resident, is pleased to announce his candidacy for Mississippi House District 59 today at Flowood City Hall. “I am honored to have the opportunity to run for this position. After much prayer and counsel, my wife and I felt God was leading us through this open door. We are excited about the opportunity to serve the residents of District 59 in West Rankin County.”

He was raised by a Baptist preacher and elementary school teacher. It was his upbringing that led him to dedicate his post collegiate career to being a teacher and coach at Brandon High School after lettering at Ole Miss in baseball. He would later move on to Hinds Community College where he continued coaching baseball while working as a liaison between student-athletes and their professors. His experiences will carry him in making important decisions for West Rankin County families. “I believe in quality education. We must maintain our high standards for education in Rankin County. The 2013 legislative session will be focused on education reforms in this state and as a former teacher in the Rankin County School District; I understand how important it is for every child to have a quality education.”

Bradley subsequently enrolled at Mississippi College School of Law to broaden his education in the legal field. While attending school, he was President of the Republican Lawyers Association, a 2011 graduate of the Jackson Leadership Initiative Program, active in Mission Mississippi and held two jobs. In August of this year, he became President and founding partner of a local firm that advises and manages professional athletes and entertainers. As a businessman, he knows what it takes to keep the quality of life strong in Rankin County and across the State. “I believe that business, education, and family work together to build solid communities. Our standard of living should remain at the top. If elected, I will to keep the state government out of our pockets and from interfering with economic growth.”

Bradley is an avid deer and duck hunter and enjoys spending time in the outdoors. He is a member of Pinelake Church in Brandon. He is married to Celeste Lum and they have a newborn daughter, Annie Monroe Lum.

So, he is still a student?

Everybody's a critic.

says he prayed and God told him to do this. methinks it was more like, you pray honey while I fill out this election paperwork. charter schools in Rankin County, bet he will not take a stand.

I hearing Gibbs & Whitwell are his employer and backers?

Are they defense attourneys?

Anonymous said...

He's a practicing attorney, not a student. Nice guy, he's got my support.

Anonymous said...

He'd be wise to keep Whitwell behind the scenes because Whitwell is a major RINO.

Has he told you he was attorney?

Bradley is a good guy. Down-to-earth, reliable, hard-working, self-made, capable. Politics seem to reflect the Rankin County district. Social conservative, but not a firebrand. Doesn't have immediate name recognition of the son of a Powell or a Swales, and that'll be a disadvantage for him with the abbreviated campaign schedule. The

I'd like to see him pull it off. Definitely would be a lot better than the typical rep.

Lum is a fourth gen Rankin co. resident but went to Hillcrest?

@3:32, just kidding. Lum's a good guy, but I suspect he's behind on name id. Maybe he can run a solid ground game.

6:30,
He is not an attorney.

My bad. He is not practicing law, I was mistaken. He does have higher education though, which is a plus.
Time for rankin county to have some new blood. I hope he does well.

He finishes MC law school this month. Very intelligent, honest, and moral.

Nice to see he meets all of the qualifications for Rankin County and the gang around here: REPUBLICAN, WHITE, BAPTIST, BREATHES, EATS, WALKS, TALKS ABOUT PRAYING...

Oh yea, he will make a fabulous statesman, leader, prophet, hero of Gallo and Supertalk, probably raise Mississippi's GDP in one quarter by 4 points, a true visionary!!!

Oh yea ... a true visionary!!!

Anything is better than a scum sucking liberal lying Yellerdog and/or toilet seat height engineer.

8:37, you friend must truly be a product of Mississippi's education system, no doubt.

@8:26, if you want to compare, Rankin county seems to be doing just fine.... So maybe our "qualifications" seem to be working.

May be a good guy, but with Whitwell and Reno being his main support and mentors this race will be like running a marathon dragging a truck tire. His campaign "speech" doesn't say anything that any other candidate running in Rankin County would say. What it does do is dance all around the 'charter school' issue without answering it. Guess he is afraid Weathersby has the same kind of political heft that Nelson thought Kuykendal did in DeSoto. Hope he learns the same lesson Pat did!

I understand Scot Allen will also run

Anonymous said...

Scot Allen will not pass the 50 signatures test

Anonymous said...

Thats funny he was first to get them

Anonymous said...

is that the same guy who ran against Wood Brown?

How many votes did he get ?

Anonymous said...

I understand it is the same guy I asked a
Rankin elected official about him he said he
Got to know him and he spent less than
$1000 on that race and got 1300-1400 votes
Less than 1$ per it cost wood $9 per
He also said don't under estimate him
He said he was called out state to work most
Of that race he said this guy has deep pockets
But doesn't want to buy the job also he was
Going to vote him he told me you've got to meet this
Guy said just a good person

Anonymous said...

He came by my house when he was running
For sup not really the political type but really
Informed prob should have voted for him
Now we got tax hike

Anonymous said...

came by my house and I thought he was a idiot, he didn't know any of the issues.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.

Kamikaze will perform his new song F*** Bush, he's still a _____. Did I mention there was no referee? Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices.
