Is comment moderation now permanent? Can you inform your readers?

Keeping it going for a little while. This site came under attack on Monday by someone saying some pretty sleazy and untrue things about me. Only choice I had was to moderate. The comments are sent to my BB so I can approve them pretty quickly, as I'm sure you've noticed. Sorry for the inconvenience. Not the first time I've done it and am sure it won't be the last.

Dang it, Kingfish, if I had wanted to observe a conversation similar to the one between Tom Head and DonnerK in the comments, I would have simply made a Spam sandwich and given it to the dog. That communication would be more intelligent than the idiocy between those two.

My wife has me under comment moderation.

Well, I was referring to the last comment on the page once you scroll down past all the blah, blah, blah....
After a negative comment, Donna blasted back and then disabled the comment form. NO ONE could comment back. She wanted the last word...
She has really lost it. Being a liberal doesn't justify stupidity.

Ladd in her efforts to demonize those who do not agree with her only contributes to the divisiveness she helps create.

Does she not think the people she says feel left out or ignored have the ability to speak for themselves? After all, they do have a strong voice represented by many who keep a keen eye on the goings on in Jackson and let nothing slip under their radar.

Social Engineer Ladd is apparently blind to the fact that she continually feeds the monster that does not really exist, but I suppose this makes her feel needed and not such an outsider.

Let me spell out for you how stupid Ladd is in her tirades and Ahab-like crusades. Rebekah is a well-known crusader for stopping domestic violence in town. The head of VIP is the best friend of Heather Spencer's mom and is one of several who runs Heather's Tree. She has personally given Donna Heather's Tree checks for domestic violence projects.

None of that matters as all that matters is THE CAUSE. I've said too much but she's the one that made this public and then wouldn't allow any further comments on what she wrote.

Someone should tell her, this is still America and no one will stop her from starting her own VIP type publication and putting it any where they will have it. What she needs to remember is what one old newspaper man said he asked every potential new reporter hire, Why are you here? when they gave their save the world answers he would tell them: no you are here to get out a paper people will buy to make money for the publisher, after that we save the world.

She just posted the comments fromm last night...after she read all the flack she received for disabling the feedback forum. She wanted to make sure her reply was articulate enough before she allowed the other posts to show.

What's funny is her practice of not posting moderated comments until she has her lengthy replies dissecting the comment already written. The two will usually post at the same time.

I remember several years ago when Donner K repeatedly editorialized over the evil Gannett empire, and their underhanded plan to sign up all free paper distribution stands in Jackson with monopolistic agreements to distribute the C-L offshoots and banish the JFP from that location. I suspect her derangement persists from that episode.

I actually used to defend that paper as a needed part of our community. No more. I simply ignore it.

As time went on, and by her continued emotional antics and needless rhetoric, I (along with most of the business community) simply wrote tham off.

Her blog responses used to actually be interesting. No more.

She has NO TOLERANCE for opposing views, slyly insults those that do ("I thought you were smarter than that" or "surely you don't actually believe that" type crap).

Her readers and reporters, save Adan, whom she "governs stories down" constantly, really have no real relevance.

She OBSESSES with other publications, as if defaming them sometimes makes her weekly "better".

One day, this paper will fold or be sold. No crying here.

I am still curious to know if Donna is aware that VIP was copied from other existing markets. The racist past of the Clarion Ledger has nothing to do with VIP. I wonder if Donna would be open to sharing JFP's financial statements with those of VIP's. Does anyone care to guess who is running the more profitable operation? If running a publication is about making money, isn't she the one who is printing the wrong things? If the government were to run either, then yes, diversity would be a must, but since this is a business it is about making money. Look at the difference in the advertising rates for the JFP and VIP. For most I have probably proven my point. For Donna, well?

Bottom line, Ladd will not be happy until it's called VIBP of Jackson and is placed into the hands of every JPS child so that they can then, and only then, know that they, too, can grow up to be something. Because we all know that's every black child's mental watermark for success, a magazine. (-rolls eyes- How about start with the child's parents being over the age of 16 and maybe a positive role model that doesn't report to his parole officer every Wednesday. But no, it's that evil magazine's fault.)

Anyway, let's just SAY, worst case scenario, that VIP 'is' a bunch of peach skinned loving, white race absorbed, one-sided of Jackson representing magazine......

Sometimes, races are separated to hit a target market. Big flippin deal.

I just asked my black friend about this..about if VIP bothered her, if thought set us back, etc.. She looked at me like I was crazy, answer was a firm no. Ladd is race obsessed.

What is ladds opinion of country music radio stations....or shops for women over size 14....or Childrens shoe stores? All of these specific categories of business in fact alienate anyone and everyone that it doesn't target. Does that make them segregated? Elitist? Out of line? It's a business model....nothing more. VIP targets it's customers the same way Mercedes does. No apology required. And the fact that gannett espouses diversity and balance for their news products has nothing to do with VIP...which is not a news product. She is obsessed and herself divisive.

I was at Banner Hall just yesterday and could not find a Jackson Advocate stand anywhere.

Race is a demographic, it does not mean your racist. They put papers where they will sell. Just like JFP ads are all beer joints because that where all the young student "libs" spend their money but the wont buy the JFP.

Market capitalism works. It would work for Donna as well if she quit pissing off potential readers.

It appears implied and if so I would think that retailers would be thinking about yanking the JFP from their stores. I was shocked she mentioned Cups in her list. I wonder if Retailers are aware of what she is implying.

As someone who was a part of the CL free distro program when it rolled out the only thing anyone needs to know is Donna and Todd LIED. Now who owns the free distro monolopy, they do! Who won't let anyone else in, them. All the stuff they said was wrong with the CL scam is now their scam. They were (not sure now) paying to get locations away from CL.

So, is Donna now advocating that everyone boycott VIP and The Clarion Ledger? If it were a true boycott and she really believed what she was saying, she would refuse to advertise the business of those who advertise in VIP and the Clarion Ledger. Maybe she does? Does anyone know?

She actually references Martin Luther King, Jr. in one of her facebook posts from Monday regarding this topic as if to somehow compare herself to him. I'm very disturbed by that, all sarcasm aside. If the magazine changed it's name, would that make everything better? "Pictures of People that Support Charities, Seen at the Parties that Benefit Them". Why does this continue to come under attack? And the word "boycott" is used by one of her readers on the JFP site. It would seem that she's entering dangerous territory. To not remove a comment suggesting such, even though not by her would imply agreement, no? Seems awfully risky to me. I don't think ANYONE could afford a boycott at this point. She might consider caution moving forward at this point.

After reading your post Reb, I did a bit of research about other publications that were not cited in the rants.

What I found interesting is the Autumn 2010 Boom publication. I found the diversity ratio to be WAY out of wack. One would think that the advertisements would show more diversity. Only Tougaloo and a few others actually featured diverse models.

Well...if Donna was SO diverse and SO against VIP then she would boycott the advertisers in VIP and Northside right? No....she is going to take whatever she can get.
She has personal beef with VIP...period...

My thing is, if you are going to go after VIP for not being "racially diverse" then why not WHOA Women's Magazine? They are a Christian based magazine related to Women's issues....Um, why not question why WHOA is not being "religiously diverse" What about the Atheists? Don't they find a Christian based magazine offensive? It is for women and life issues...but...what about the men? Stand up for them too! Come on! Don't just stop at racism....start in on sexism too!
