Wow. Don't have time to write much about this now but Chris Coates, former Voting Rights Section Chief at the Department of Justice, testified against his former employers today.
Start on page 3. Its worth reading.

Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

Trollfest '07
Jackson Jambalaya is the home of Trollfest '07. Catch this great event which promises to leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Sonjay Poontang and his band headline the night with a special steel cage, no time limit "loser must leave town" bout between Alan Lange and "Big Cat"Donna Ladd following afterwards. Kamikaze will perform his new song F*** Bush, he's still a _____. Did I mention there was no referee? Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell. Sid Salter of The Clarion-Ledger will host "Pin the Tail on the Trial Lawyer", sponsored by State Farm.
There will be a hugging booth where in exchange for your young son, Frank Melton will give you a loooong hug. Trollfest will have a dunking booth where Muhammed the terrorist will curse you to Allah as you try to hit a target that will drop him into a vat of pig grease. However, in the true spirit of Separate But Equal, Don Imus and someone from NE Jackson will also sit in the dunking booth for an equal amount of time. Tom Head will give a reading for two hours on why he can't figure out who the hell he is. Cliff Cargill will give lessons with his .80 caliber desert eagle, using Frank Melton photos as targets. Tackleberry will be on hand for an autograph session. KIM Waaaaaade will be passing out free titles and deeds to crackhouses formerly owned by The Wood Street Players.

Kingfish, this is absolutely unbelievable. You need to read an editorial from the washington times.
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/sep/3/scandal-at-justice-enabling-vote-fraud/
good lord, so my reverse-discrimination feelings isn't a conspiracy theory?!
I remember when Ike Brown ran an ad in the Noxubee County newspaper listing the names of all the people who had voted in the previous Democratic primary who would NOT be allowed to do so in the upcoming one -- every name on the list of several dozen belonged to a white person.
I FULLY believe that what was done (and, some places, still is done) to minority voters is a crime and should be prosecuted. But allowing the Ike Browns of the world to do the same stuff doesn't create some sort of cosmic justice, it just perpetuates the divide.
where is jerry mitchell on this?! it could earn him another grant or 2. oops, wrong pigmentation
Awww, poor white people. Always being discriminated against. boo hoo hoo
Assmunch @315. Discrimination is wrong. Period.
I can't even finish the transcript...it's disgusting how discrimination is rewarded now under the guise of, what? You did it to my peoples 50 years ago?
I'm sure Donner K would rather this testimony never occur, wait... in some recesses of the world it didn't.
That hypocritcal bitch won't touch this. Nor her minion of young, stupid mushheads.
3:15
ive been robbed 2x , burglarized 2x, and assaulted 1x by blacks, and once defrauded by a white. i fight back. but once the 70/30 line got crossed, harvey lost it. jxn blacks complained that they were abused by the majority whites, and when they get in power/majority, what do they do? same thing they complain of.
we have moved family out of hinds, my business out of hinds, and my wife's business is moving as soon as we can. so you can boo hoo when the whites don't foot all the bills.
I seriously doubt the JFP or the CL would touch this testimony. It runs counter to their recurring theme that only blacks are oppressed.
Revenge isn't Equality.
Perhaps we should consider a march to the capitol on the weekend. I work during the week and need to keep my job.
I was appalled at the testimony. The failures of bureaucracy at the highest level are disgusting. To think that educated administrators cannot see past color does nothing to promote equality. When I read who was involved, I was shocked, immediately. Really. It is one thing to think it and debate, it is an entirely different thing to hear direct knowledge of the social engineering promoted with respect to voting based on personal agendas. Do we really understand a participatory democracy? Voting is an inalienable right, I hope.
9:53 PM... Yep, got a job, can't afford to lose it. Forget showing up to political rally's of ANY sort. Your humor is deep. The reality of every American still evades political discourse and actors. I share your frustration.
While I harbored secret hopes that this President would keep his word and try to bring the races closer together, I believe that the contrary has occurred. The divide between the races has widened under Obama, and practices like the ones outlined in this testimony are simply a reflection of the attitudes of the leadership. No one seems to want a level playing field, and nothing will change until black people quit blindly voting people like this into power. Bill Billingsley
What did you expect? Obama belonged to a church that sent out newsletters claiming Israel got nukes so it could wipe out black people.
Bill -- seriously? The "races" were so close during the GWB administration?
You are right, no one wants a levelplaying field -- no one, whether they are black, white, Asian, Persian, etc. We all want advantages because we are messed up, selfish humans.
Things will improve ONLY when people a) quit using race as an excuse for their own bad behavior and b) quit blaming bad behavior of others on race.
Sometimes an asshole is just an asshole. I guarantee you that if those morons at the DOJ saw any personal advantage in protecting a white person, they would do it. And vice versa.
PEOPLE are messed up -- the skin color happens to be incidental.
9:28, I never said that the races were close at any point. Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case in my lifetime, and I'll probably go to my grave without it getting much better. I simply said that I had hoped that Obama's election would help bring blacks and whites closer together - you know, change, yes we can, Scarlett Johansson, Chris "Tingly" Matthews, all that pre-election hype. I agree with almost all of your post, though, other than your assertion that no one wants a level playing field. I do, and I think there are plenty of people who think like I do, both black and white. We'll take an advantage if we can get it, but we want it to be earned through education and hard work, not because of the color of our skin. The point of Kingfish's post was to show us that certain people in the Department of Justice are only after justice when it is applied in favor of blacks or people who speak English as a second language. White minorities, like the one in Noxubee county, need not apply. That's racism, pure and simple, and just because blacks have traditionally been victims of racism doesn't give them the right to give it back. Yes, they're assholes as well, but their decision seems to have been based on race and nothing else. Behavior like this is what gives ammunition to white racists who also would rather see the races driven apart instead of brought together, so that's how I came to my conclusion. Bill Billingsley
I am glad - but amazed - to read the indignation of the commenters here. As one that has worked in elections most of my life, this is no shock. I am just glad that finally someone from the VRD division of the CRD of DOJ is finally "spilling the beans". For decades the VRD has been acting this way - enforcing the law only in one direction. The Ike Brown case was monumental - and those that take shots at Pres GWB should remember that it took courage to appoint people to this division in DOJ that would enforce laws "equally" - we finally got DOJ to realize that discrimination goes both ways.
Judge Lee's (federal) order restricted Ike Brown from participating in elections - but Ike violated this in the 2009 Canton Municipal Dem Primary when his nephew ran. But (State) Judge threw the election challenge out on a technicality not involving Ike, that prevented the evidence from being presented.
Ike - and his tactics in multiple MS counties - continues. And the Federal Government is going to do nothing about it. At least not under this administration. Hopefully in 2013 we can get a DOJ that will enforce all laws equally.
In the meantime - demand repeal of the VRA that allows 30% of the states of the USA to be discriminated against. Pete Perry
