Just in case you forgot...

Barry Goff is still in jail and hopefully will be there forever.

The rejected appeal

what did Goff do?

Anonymous said...

Murdered Herman Carson at The Dock, who was mentally retarded, small and a quiet person. Goff said he was chasing someone who had accosted his wife, and went into a dark area where someone grabbed his shirt and he beat and stomped the crap out of the guy.

Kingfish said...

Uggie was autistic. Was a nut about speakers and things related to sound engineering. Would go to the Dock with his notebook and take all kinds of notes on whatever speakers the bands were using.

Was short, like 5'2" or so. Would ride his bike all over NE Jackson. Don't know how many times traffic was backed up, get past the jam, and see it was Uggie happily riding on his bike on the side of the road off in his own world. When I worked at the grocery store in college, he would come through my line every now and then. Was off in his own world, talking about things you had no idea what he meant by them or what they had to do with anything but he would pay his bill, always understood what you were saying, and it was always an interesting experience.

that night at the Dock, from what I was told by Dock employees back then, he bumped into Goff's ex-wife on the walkway by the phones. It was closing time, she started cussing him out, he apparently said something and no telling what it was, and next thing you know 6'4" 240 lb Barry Goff who loved to fight was beating the hell out of a little 5'2" autistic guy who weighed maybe 120 lbs. When Uggie was on the ground, Barry then proceeded to stomp him to death.

He got life for his murder of Uggie. Why did I make this post? I thought about it and wanted to make sure no one forgot Uggie or what this guy did.

Oh my gosh, I remember that. Haven't thought about it in ages. That was another INFURIATING incident.

But you know what's really infuriating.. that Bell and Goff are probably living better than our own troops right now. Hell, or even some of us. They don't have to get up every day, fight traffic, go to a job, stress about paying bills, everything's provided for them. What in the WORLD would be wrong with at least once a month, someone going into these prisons and absolutely beating them to a bloody mess? Tax payer's money to do so? No. I'm pretty sure there would be a few volunteers for this new found program of mine. What's once a month of your time?

They have it too damn easy in jail. It's not justifiable AT ALL for what they've done to get there.

Oh, and I bet Ms. Bell enjoyed some coffee in her own home this morning. Watching the birds perhaps. My program may require house calls.

Goff, Bo Tanner, George Bell - it's amazing how many of these local tough guys end up in prison. There are more than a few of these knuckle-busters still out there who will likely end up the same way.

Unknown said...

I remember the Goff deal. I used to know his younger brother who was a nice guy. Who is Tanner?

Anonymous said...

stilleto, you are a stone-fool if think life is easy in state prison. really stupid statement. and of course, the guy deserves every day of it.

Autogyro said...

Tanner was a ex-jock brawler who wound up with a gambling problem. Broke into his neighbor's house (an elderly woman) to steal jewelry and when she awakened, he strangled her.

Anonymous said...

I doubt any of us actually think that life is easy in prison. Ultimately the point is that they enjoy freedoms that their own victims will never enjoy. Big jacked-up tough guys beat completely innocent and largely defenseless victims. I'm all for the Stiletto Project.

And speaking of Robbie..let's not forget that she enjoyed coffee the morning of September 11, 2007 too. Right at her very own kitchen table.

stilettoGOP said...

Really, 10:54?

Goff is at East Miss. Correctional Facility (I think. Am at work and not going to verify for sure, but..) a quick search shows these programs offered to the inmates:

GED
Life skills
Father initiative class
AA/NA
Behavior enhancement program
Psychoactive services
Smoking cessation
Bible study groups
Computer training
Art classes
Special ed
Therapeutic community
Specialized group therapy
Specialized individual counseling

How is any of that not 'easy life'? Sounds pretty cush to me. When was the last time any of us NON-murders were offered free computer classes? Or special individual counseling to help us feel all better? All while being promised a "therapeutic" community?

Two words, chain gang.

And if by 'life not being easy for them in prison' you're talking about them maybe getting beat up from other prisoners, prison violence etc, um, isn't that exactly what THEY did to innocent people to get in there in the first place?

Still say it's too easy for them. Right now there are soldiers sleeping in TENTS. On DIRT. Goff gets fresh sheets. That he didn't even have to wash himself. Because he was in ART CLASS.

gee, if we make prison worse than the real world, all the bad guys will come out after a stay all well adjusted and better, right, Stilletodouchebag, your an idiot.

What a powerful conclusion of your post. I think it is clear exactly who is the douche+idiot and it isn't stiletto.

Re 11.:26

I'm with you and StilettoGOP. Bastards do need more than 3 hots & a cot. Classes and group sessions to bide the their time away is all fine and dandy, but a regularly scheduled good old-fashioned ass-wipping would certainly satisfy a whole bunch of victim's families out there. And no need to call people names around here. Everyone has a right to their own opinion on this site, even people like you, 1:28. It's called "an eye for an eye".

Anonymous said...

well, my point is that if prison is to do any good, then vocational rehab, drug and alcohol rehab, and emotional rehab should be in place. If all you expect out of the criminal justice system is to put people "away", then why do you think that once released, most felons who do hard time get in trouble again? Granted, there are some that shouldn't be elligable for parole, but isn't ass-whooping the reason that most violent offenders become violent offenders? Most of you bloggers sound like you live in a Islamic run state and want to see public hangings to right the wrongs in the world. It is the old testament "eye for an eye" that is the problem, violence begets more violence, and so on.

Anonymous said...

oh yeah, and the last time I checked, you have two choices in prison, and one involves sodomy and the other fellatio. Pretty easy eh?

stilettoGOP said...

Ok 1; We're talking about people who are in for life, why spend tax payer's money rehabilitating them? For what?

2; I'm all for public hangings now that you brought it up.

3; "Eye for an eye" DOES solve it. How in the hell are they going to kill again if they're dead? See death penalty.

4; SERVES THEM RIGHT if those are their only two choices in prison. Poor things. I don't remember reading in the Spencer reports where she was asked where she'd 'rather' have that mag flash light.

Anonymous said...

Well, Stiletto, would you feel the same if you gave birth to one of these people you want to put to death.

Anonymous said...

Most of you bloggers sound like you live in a Islamic run state and want to see public hangings to right the wrongs in the world. It is the old testament "eye for an eye" that is the problem, violence begets more violence, and so on.

Yeah, right. Most of the bloggers here think we live in an Islamic state and want to see public hangings.

Please get a clue.

rememberingheather said...

What does it matter how the one feels that gave birth to a killer??? That would SUCK!! "My kid kicked Oogie to death at the Dock. What did yours do?" Well mine stangled the old lady across the street for a $100 bill hoping to get lucky at Ameristar." "Well mine beat and raped a girl to death in the back bedroom. Has anyone seen my lipstick?" Who gives a shit!!! Let's all agree that we'll try to avoid giving birth to a future killer!! Stupid ass question. The point has been made. They need their asses kicked every single day for the rest of their lives until they can prove that they should be treated otherwise.

Anonymous said...

Well 4:54, how would you feel if one of these guys did those horrible things to YOUR son or daughter? I can assure you that you would have a completely different outlook on the subject. Forgiveness IS important, but let's be real here. These sick bastards deserve as much pain as they delivered to their victims and their families. Got to tell ya, we're talking about lifers with no parole chances don't need rehab. They deserve pay-back!

Anonymous said...

"an eye for an eye" would only work for violent offenders like bell. most of the people in prison are in there for drugs. we could sell drugs to them and call it even.

Anonymous said...

But we're talking about Bell, Goff and Tanner...all violent offenders. Take an eye!!(so to spreak...)

stilettoGOP said...

4:54 I think that's a fair question actually, I'll answer it as honestly as I can.

Obviously, as I sit here watching my child do their homework, I'd like to think that this little person I'm raising would NEVER beat a helpless mentally handicapped person (or ANY being) until they no longer had life. I would HOPE raising them in a loving environment and taught to have a close relationship with God would produce a thing called a conscience, and respect for life.

Let's say that's not the case.. how would I feel about "my" child being put to death for murdering someone? I'd accept it. May not be the answer you were hoping for, but true. I'd have to do a LOT of praying about it. And a LOT of praying for their soul.

But I think I'd look at it as if, I no longer even 'knew' that soul. Almost like I didn't 'know' that person anymore, the one I raised. As if the person I knew already died when they committed such an act. maybe would feel like they were already partly dead. Or was a sick, ill person.. someone who could possibly be a threat to others.

For what it would be worth, I'd also probably have to remind myself that they would be put to rest FAR more humanely than the way that they took another human life.

Still boils down to actions, and consequences. Not saying it wouldn't be the hardest thing you'd ever have to do, God knows. But I think of the victims, the innocent, regardless.

The Bible may say "eye for an eye", but it also reminds us that vengeance and punishment is not even ultimately in our hands (as much as we'd like it to be), but in someone else's. I'm afraid I'd have to let go, and let their real Father deal with the repercussions. Even death penalty. And then try to do everything I could to help the victim's family. Would TRY to create some good out of the horrible.

i googled goff and found an older mississippi court of appeals decision that also involved goff albeit peripherally. he jumped at a guy at a club who came back with a gun. goff was gone but he started firing anyway. one of the bullets struck an innocent passerby (driving a car down the street) in the head and killed him (19 year old). if you find the supreme court opinion that affirmed goff's conviction you can get the full factual scenario. brutal.

all that said, i think life in prison is as tough as it ought to be. if you've ever seen a jury (in any county) you will see twelve people who should not be deciding who lives and dies. and if you need an example of how politics plays into sentencing, take a look at the ryan crick conviction from oktibbeha county in august. its a shame that he will spend the rest of his life in prison along side goff bell and tanner.

Robbie Bell had a welcome home party for her son (who had an active warrant for beating Heather months earlier). She called a judge to come over and help her sick, evil son, NOT the authorities. She actually had the audacity to change clothes before driving away with her son.

Talk about an enabler. An eye for an eye.

NinaS said...

I agree, what ever happened to the chain gangs and hard labor for convicts? Oh, wait, that was labeled "cruel and unusual punishment" wasn't it? The lovely group known as the ACLU has been hard at work for quite a while making sure criminals are not unduly punished and/or denied their rights. If you need to direct your indignation somewhere, start with them.

And regardless of how "cush" you see prison in your mind's eye, I can promise you that you still don't want to go there. No, no you don't, it's not all the brochure makes it out to be. Maybe prison is not all that these monsters like Bell or Goff deserve, but they don't enjoy freedom anymore. They don't freely walk the streets and we are safe from their evilness. They are evil and do not belong in a free society.

As for what they really deserve along with their enablers, as badly as I would love to deliver pain and suffering on them like they delivered on Uggie & Heather, I've got to believe the Lord will handle that in eternity.

Barry Goff has been a bully for YEARS. Since the 70's anyway. As a child he was a neighborhood bully. And I know firsthand. He stole both of my older brothers' new bikes right after Christmas and threw them in a creek. He harassed them constantly and he was their age. He was horrible. And his mother is JUST like him and never seemed to care that he harrassed and stole from people.

I remember Oogie. He used to come into a restaurant I worked at. He would't hurt a fly...at least not on purpose anyway. What kind of monster would STOMP a mentally retarded person to death? I can't even imagine the evil inside of him. It's too bad he didn't get the death penalty. As for the parenting his mother gave him...apparently the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Anonymous said...

I just left the comment about Barry Goff before this. I had to google George Bell because the name sounded so familiar. I am in shock. I knew George. He dated a girl that worked at the restaurant with me and was in there all the time. He was very quiet and seemed "normal". A little on the shy side. This is hard to believe. Can anyone give me details on this case. What happened and where it went wrong? I'm just totally in shock.

I KNEW HIS SISTER (1983) AND PARENTS. I READ THESE COMMENTS ABOUT BARRY AND CAN SAY WITHOUT HESITATION THAT WHAT HAPPENED THAT NIGHT WAS NOT REFLECTIVE OF BARRY'S CHARACTER AND WHO HE WAS AS A PERSON....AS A WHOLE. I went to school with Barry myself back in the early 80's at Magnolia Academy. He was a jerk then and a jerk now. Doesn't surprise me in the least he ended up in prison. It also doesn't surprise me he's there for beating up a helpless disabled man.

I knew Barry well and was around many times when the instegator was not Barry.I know what happened that night.I was there.uggie was not stomped and stomped like a dog like kingfish makes it sound.Yes Is was a terrible thing that happened. The person kingfish wishes was in jail as well,Was the instegator that night after uggie had ran out the door and knocked her down and then ran around back of the dock.Thats where Barry was Grabbed and yes,he hit Uggie, more than once I'm sure.It was the area, that if you went to the Dock, to the Lt of the Double door to entrance. It was dark, after he hit the person(not knowing he was autistic)and yes kicked him.He thought the guy might be hurt bad.Well as we know he was and that is terrible.Barry Hates what happened. He did what alot of husbands or boyfriends would have done in the situation. There were many things that were terrible about this incident.I know this wont be allowed on here prob. But should bar owners let autistic people clean dirty ,filthy bathrooms 'til 3,4,5 am paying him in liquer and beer? hmmm I dont. The same person that welcomed Barry in FREE everytime he walked in and whoever was with him.

Kingfish said...

Whatever. I've talked to people that were there. First of all, Uggie was less than 5'5". VERY small man. in his 40's. Very harmless. Barry is over 6'2". Big guy. First he hit him, then he knocked him down, and beat him and stomped him to death. For you to deflect blame elsewhere is disgusting and shows what a scumbag you are.

First of all let me say that while i agree Barry should have been charged with manslaughter, he was drunk in a bar defending his wife. And him getting life in prison was bs. Now let me say that I personally know exactly the conditions of emcf and the unit Goff is on. Because I have worked there. It is one of the worst units at emcf for violence and the most violent offenders are housed there. They don't get clean sheets like someone stated above. They're lucky to get showers, food, and rec time. No he is not buff and tan anymore. He is very thin from malnutrition and lack of medical care. You guys on here talking about something you are completely ignorant to.

Dhw31-----I hope that the conditions he lives in are as bad or worse than you describe. He should be glad to still have his life, unlike his victim.

It's all good that Barry has his loyal friends, just as he did at Magnolia Academy back in the 1980's. many of us that attended that school knew him all to well. We knew he was thrown out of many ball games for fighting, we knew that he contracted a STD (he talked openly about it), we knew he destroyed a sewing machine in the Home Economics Lab, we knew he was arrested numerous times, we knew he showed up for ball games intoxicated and the list goes on. We're these the acts of a juvenile delinquent? Probably. Where does the blame lie? His parents "bailed" him out of many of these acts with little more than a slap on the wrist. He was needed on the field and court. What did this do for Barry? Allow him an overinflated ego where he felt he was untouchable. Well, the law caught up with him, even before he killed Oogie. I just read the many court records about Barry and have seen his many arrest records. Mike, I am your friend. You do a lot off good work at Region 8. You have educated yourself, just as I. But there are some individuals that are un rehabitable. Barry really has few redeeming qualities. I've never seen him remorseful for any act he thrust upon someone, let alone Oogies death. I think if Barry beat your son the way Oogie was beaten, your preaching would be on a different topic. And, may I add, Barry cornered me in high school, alone in a hallway where no one was, and hurled so many insults towards me. I mustered all my energy, even though I was scared beyond words, and told him that if he hurt me in any way, my daddy would find him and beat him shitless. I told him that he would be thrown in a hole that no one would find him. Barry left me alone after that. In fact, he fell over himself to never even be in my presence after that for years. What it that we're one of your girls that said that? Would you preach or be proud of her for having courage to face down a murderer?

Magnolias best said...

BTW Barry hasn't had the best life in jail. By all accounts, he was "loved on" in the Madison County Jail. He also now sports a chest wide tattoo that says REBEL or some sort of nonsense. Gotta love Mr. Magnolia. I know I am proud!

My old boss Tony Oswald who recently past here lately (God rest his soul) use to run with Barry Goff back in the day. He told me that one time they were in the Kyrstal on hwy 80 by Metrocenter and Barry took out four Navy guys there. What a bully! I hope he has received his fair share of ass whippins in prison to make up for all the bullying he did back in the day. What a punk!

I know Boman Tanner, and his murder was one where he went to steal from a neighbor but killed her in the process, if I remember correctly he shot her, but I could be wrong. As for Goff, I was visiting my sick dad in the hospital when this happened. I never met the man but I heard from friends of mine that knew him he was nothing but a big bully who took pride on picking on others who couldn't fight back, those kinds of people disgust me. I am saddened and appauled that he murdered a person who had no chance against him, As for Mr. BEll I no nothing of him or his case but from what I read on the internet about him another outstanding citzen of the community I see. Tanner I could see giving life in prison to but the others called for and deserved the death penalty. It saddens me our world is like it is and it is Goff and Bell that make it that way

I just heard a good story on Barry Goff and had to come back here and tell it. As big as a bully that he was, I was just told he got his ass handed to him at Katmandoo's back in the 80's by for real badass Josh Randell out if Flora. Thus was music to my ears hearing this story!

I knew Barry Goff very well. Ashamed as I am, I hung out with him many nights at the Dock. He was known as a badass, but a bully as well. He was not invincible as I too saw him get his ass kicked but someone from Pearl, MS. He was fun to hang out with when we were all young and drinking, having fun, hanging out with all the pretty ladies. But I was never so disgusted the night he committed that terrible act. I was there 100%. And yes he did stomp him when he was on the ground. Barry was always so jealous with his ex, and barry killed a very small autistic guy that we all new was harmless when he did nothing more than be friendly. Barry;s ex was a biotch and Barry was an absolute assswhole. Barry got exactly what he deserved. I also knew Barry;s family and his mom was not as bad as some have put it. Barry also has a brother that I will leave nameless that was one of the best people I knew. He obviously loved his older brother but was totally ashamed, and is today. Barry has big issues but don't blame his family.

Most of you idiots on here did not even know Barry Goff only heard of his "badass" name everywhere you went. I can assure if you did know you know that he was a teddy bear to all the girls and a friend to all his boys. He was a large man. That in itself got him into a lot of stuff by people. he was expected to fight who ever ever it was starting the shit, how do I know this by I am the biatch mentioned in this last post. Aka as the ex. Who ever that post was from is lying bc as I remember it was me who mr oogie pushed me down for no reason out of the blue and called me a bitch. It was me that my husband was taking up for and did what he did for. He didn't know this man. I was with Barry Goff for 10 years and I never saw him start fights. Finish yes. A lot of them. But you people on here bad mouth him for defending me FUCK ALL OY YOU". He did not deserve this life in prison and he did not deserve to be there today. If anything it was manslaughter. It was not murder with Internet . I almost bet everything I have if you did know Barry you thought you were something if he even spoke to you so shame on all you idiots for dissing him
I know for a fact it was only me Barry and Oogie out on the deck that morning so if anyone says they they were there than
I call bullshit. Oh unless it's Dewitt and his ex who were doing coke on the other side of the wall that's all that was there.

Tish, first off let me say this. I'm from the Jackson, Mississippi area and have long left when I went off to college and law school. What happened on that fateful tragic night was horrific for all involved including yourself and I hope you are doing ok from it. I'm not going to get on here and call your ex names, that would be be very immature. I will say this however, reading your reply while understandably you were upset the might this happened and I don't agree with any man pushing a lady down and calling her any names, not once in your reply did I see you offer any sympathy toward Mr. Carson or his family for him being gone. That push came at a very heavy price. Herman Carson us dead, regardless of what he did as you suggest or might have done, he is the one who paid the most severest price. We all can get on here and argue all day long about different things. Mr Carson doesn't have that luxury. Your ex husband is where he is at today because he committed a very. Serious and vicious crime. Your husband had the choice to walk away and get you out of there. Instead he chose to viciously attack another human being and kill him. Your ex husband's actions that night were pure evil and uncalled for. I'm sure he is a nice guy, I personally don't know him but what I read about this case, he had no right to do what he did to Herman Carson. Good people do do bad things sometimes. But there are consequences to bad decisions and with all due respect multiple bad decisions were made by people that night. While I understand you wanting to defend your ex let's not forget there is a victim in this and he lost his life in this. He is the one that really needs defending. One other thing, with all due respect to you, You do know your ex had had multiple violations of rules since his incarceration? Something you might want to think about when you go defending someone.

I will defend Barry to the day I die. Barry did not serve this depraved heart murder charge, manslaughter yes but not depraved heart murder. I have since that very day grieved for this man. This man was a cousin to a woman who used to be one of my moms very best friends at cLavary baptism church. We all felt so terrible as to what happened including Barry. But if you truly knew Barry Goff like so many of us did he would have never hurt a autistic man. I know Barry progress I the system to. Can you imagine trying to defend yourself left and right just because of a reputation you once held. Know. None of us can. Look I'm happily married now for 11 years and my husband is great but even knows it's pisses me off and upsets me so bad bc people talk shit on Barry when they rely didn't even know him just heard his name being thrown around everywhere. You 10:57 obviously know me so ok, then t
You know I will always defend him forever. We will never know why oogie did what he did but he did it and Barry was only protecting me. That says a lot for me. He DID NOT JUST BET THE MAN TO DEATH. He hit his once and yes he stomped him but he didn't know who oogie was and didn't realize he autistic and had a pin in his brain that hit the just in the right place for it to to damage. Barry aGoff should be home by now when you have all the crime out there today getting less than what he did. Anybody want to come after me that's fine. Come on. I'll say the same thing to you. You weren't there I was I know what happened. And I will defend my ex husband always. 😊👀

Tisha, bless your heart. He’s in jail for a reason. He was a very mean out of control human. To this day, when someone asks me where I attended high school, when Magnolia Academy is said, most assuredly the person, if he’s my age, will laugh and ask if I knew Barry. It’s embarrassing for our school to only be known because of Barry when there were a lot of good people that went there besides Barry. Barry is a black mark on us all. By all accounts, Barry’s parents raised your daughter after you both went to jail or were on drugs. Thank goodness they did because she is a great person from what I hear. You need to keep oogie’s name out of YOUR mouth.

I was there the night of Oogie's murder. I did not witness the attack until it was over with. It was bad. DeWitt was shook up as well. Oogie was autistic and EVERYONE knew this including Barry. I know Barry very well, and I know you too. I will leave your name out of this because I can only imagine how traumatic this has been for you. Barry was a lot of fun, and I have enjoyed a many nights with him. But when he drank he did like to fight. It wasn't like he went around and started fights, but his temper was bad when he drank. I too witness Barry loose a fight at Katmandoo to a guy from Pearl, but that was Jeff Burrell that won that fight. The argument first started with a punk from South Jackson that Barry got involved in. Next thing I knew we were headed outside to the parking lot. Jeff kicked Barry in the throat which knocked Barry down and Jeff jumped on top of him and it was over. I don't think Barry expected Jeff to kick him like that. Jeff could fight too. I still remember the Jeep we went to Katmandoos that night in that belonged to Jeff. But I can also state that I saw Barry win a many fights as he didn't loose many. Barry was big boy. His brother that I will leave nameless was one of the nicest human beings you would ever meet. He was younger than I was, but I knew him well and he was an awesome guy. I remember how much he struggled with Barry's arrest because he did look up to Barry. That night was horrible and Barry was drinking a lot. If I remember you were drinking a fair amount as well. In fact all of us were. The fight happened as you leave the doc by the payphones. It was absolutely horrible Barry was very defensive when it came to you, and Barry completely over reacted and went crazy for a moment and killed that poor guy. He never had a chance. I saw his brother about 5 years ago and he said Barry was doing well in jail so I do hope Barry can get is life together. Look T, I am glad to hear you seemed to be able to overcome this traumatic event in your life and move on. Oogie did not deserve that, but I do hope Barry can become a better person for it.

Im amazed at all the comments that did not know Barry. Im also surprised of those that claim to know Barry and defend him as though this wasn't very bad. I was there and Barry did stomp on Oogie. And you can't Blame DeWitt for allowing Oogie to be there. We all knew Oogie as did Barry. Maybe Barry reacted without realizing who it was, and the area by the phones right outside the doors is not lite up very much, especially around closing time when this happened. Barry was a lot of fun to hang out with and normally was a pretty good guy. But as soon as he got a few drinks in him he turned into a crazy person that wanted to fight everyone. Heknew he was a badass and his temper got him in trouble. Even if he didn't realize it was Oogie, as soon as he saw the dude was roughly around 5'2", he should have stopped. But he did not, and even kicked and stomped on him while he was on the ground. Im not trying to upset his X who I do know very well, but its the truth. I am glad to see she has moved on as she really struggled after this happened and had to deal with her own problems. Good Luck to you T.

Bo and Barry use to fight after they ball against each other at MRA and Magnolia, respectively. Odd that the two brawlers end up in prison. I don’t care how much liquor or drugs you ingest; that is not any excuse to subject your anger on another person, especially if they are vulnerable. Pathetic men.

I worked at the Dock as a bouncer and Goff pretended to be a bouncer there for a while. He was a bully and a prick. He got what he deserved. Fuck him.

What happened to Bo Tanner? Why isn't he showing in the MDOC database anymore?

Anonymous said...

Tanner was pardoned by Haley Barbour on the way out the door!

I knew Barry very well. We lived together for a short time in Clinton. What happened yes was terrible. But like some have mentioned on here Bary did have a very kind side. You can believe it or not but that's your issue. Pray for Barry and his family as well as the family of the deceased.

Bo Tanner was not pardoned you idiot. Don’t comment on something you know nothing about.

No reason to call anybody names. Bo Tanner had his sentence commuted by Governor Bryant. I think he has some serious health issues. His conviction stands but he is not doing time

I was in high school and a brand new driver when this happened. I remember riding down the road alone listening to the radio when they were discussing this on the news. As a 40 year old man now, I am really intrigued that this comment thread has endured for all of these years. I (obviously) didn’t know any of these people, but Barry just sounds like a typical jackass tough young dude who liked to trade blows. It’s a damn shame that Oogie lost his life , but Barry has been in prison for over 25 years now , he in essence lost his too (which is more than fair).

As adults we discuss this case and can’t look over the fact that these were basically kids.

That’s my two cents anyway

Oogie Rest In Peace man.

Bo was released from prison to go home and spend time with family after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
His mother was so excited and happy that she was going to get her baby boy back home again after all those years and
She died right before he was released. She had his room ready for him and had his clothes ironed and folded for him and
Everything a mother loves to do for her boys. Bo actually was handling the pancreatic cancer and treatments better than
anybody I’ve ever seen but he was fueled by finally being a free man again so I’m sure that was how he pulled it off for about a year I believe it was then it took a toll on him and he got down and bed ridden. Once he was confined to the bed it wasn’t long at all after that. Not exactly sure on length of times but it was around a year after he was released and just a couple weeks or so after that once he couldn’t get back up anymore. Bo was a good guy, he liked to play rough in his younger years but it ran in our family. Not mean people just the rough and rowdy type on Friday night that’s all. Gambling and drugs can get you in a place you never intended on being in a moments notice. I know because I had the drug problem and ended up in prison myself. A few racks down from Bo for about a year. When I saw him I told him I just came to visit him and was going to stay for a little while if he didn’t mind! He laughed and we had a big old family reunion at visitation every other Sunday for a while. Bringing familiy together through our bonehead mistakes and hardships! Try not to be so critical of people’s mistakes and misfortunes.
I used to make fun and be hard on drug addicts myself and then years later I made the mistake of trying them out and I ate those cocky words and was humbled big time. Karma don’t care who you are, and she’s ruthless! God bless you guys. I’m out

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
