State Auditor Shad White issued the following statement.
Today State Auditor Shad White announced that Special Agents from his office have arrested Felisa Suggs, Nathanial Coleman, P’Trance Fields, and Kavisia Blaylock for allegedly submitting and obtaining fraudulent unemployment funds by using the stolen identities of various inmates incarcerated within the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC).
“My office found that over half a billion dollars in illegal unemployment claims were given out during the pandemic,” said State Auditor Shad White. “That’s why my team started Operation Payback to recover as much of that misspent money as possible.”
Agents with the Mississippi Office of the State Auditor discovered four unemployment claims submitted to MDES using the names of inmates incarcerated in the full-time custody of MDOC. Coleman and Fields allegedly took the identities of inmates to which they had close proximity while incarcerated and used their information to submit fraudulent unemployment claims. Blaylock and Suggs then allegedly used various CashApp and bank accounts to launder the fraudulently obtained funds.
Suggs, Coleman, Fields, and Blaylock each face up to $35,000 in fines and 40 years in prison if convicted. All persons arrested by the Mississippi Office of the State Auditor are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Suspected fraud can be reported to the Auditor’s office at any time by clicking the red button at www.osa.ms.gov or calling 1-(800) 321-1275 during normal business hours.

Ah, yes, some of Mississippi's brightest and best citizens.
notice Shadrick doesn't provide the total amount of unemployment dollars these fine citizens acquired in their transactions. Probably because the dollar amount is insignificant -- yes, he does comment on the total amount of unemployment funds he claims were misspent during COVID, using the BBBBBillion dollar number, but on this particular bust, he doesn't do as he normally does and show how much was stolen. Probably because the amount an incarcerated inmate might be entitled to doesn't amount for much, even if they stole the full entitlement.
But then again, political posting is always of value, especially when it is done as a public notice and gets run for free.
But they learned a trade in prison.
"Low hanging fruit" comments in 3, 2, 1...
5:45, what I notice is people like you shitting on Shad no matter what he does. He’s doing his job, and doing it well, so go somewhere else with that sour attitude.
Isn't it amazing that State Auditor White can make these arrests, and make these announcements, while he is away on his arranged overseas assignment! Damn, double pay and still taking the credit for all his great works. I guess just shows that we need to promote him
Damn right 6:55 - he's doing his job from remote. Found FOUR unemployment claims! Four. Wow, wonders never cease. Couldn't find who directed that payment of $77 million, but could find who ripped off a couple of hundred.
Rhodes Scholars no doubt!
5:45 is a “low hanging fruit” and getting scared.
For those of you who believe Shad is a slacker, WHY don't you run for State Auditor and recover all this money from the fraud you mention and ignore all this "low hanging fruit." After all, they stuck it to THE MAN!
@6:55 He is not doing his job. If his office can arrest these clowns, his office can arrest the Leflore County Supervisors who have been thumbing their nose at Shad for years.
Yup. 6:55pm doesn't seem to want to accept that Shad's using lots of low-hanging fruit to cover up his primary sin: Helping Phil Bryant "turn whistleblower" on himself.
We won't ever forget it, Shad. Not. Ever. It's what you did, no matter how you spin it.
7:02, I guess you’d like to see all of the fraudsters in the state get a free pass until the investigation into the new volleyball stadium is concluded to your satisfaction?
It’s coming up on an election cycle, you will see a lot of great things the Agency Leaders are doing! You will hear this phrase a lot also, “Great Stewards of the Government’s/taxpayers money”. I heard that shit during my 30 years of State service. “Do something that makes us look good”.
Im going back to sleep with the covers over my head!
Every time Shad does something, 11:08 whines about the Leflore County BOS. Clue us in on what they’ve done.
